Worth it if you can find it
ryan_nyburg26 June 2001
Night of the Beast is an interesting and imaginative film if nothing else. A priest discovers when the anti-Christ will be born and attempts to sell his soul to the devil in order to be at the birth so he can kill the anti-Christ and save the world. Or something like that. Along the way he enlist the help of a record store clerk with a heavy-metal fetish and a taste for acid and the host of a local TV program about the supernatural.

Well made and acted, and with an intelligent, if occasionally vague, script that adds elements of mystery and humor into the horror mix. It should have played around with its ideas a little more though. The best scenes are in the beginning when the priest attempts to become evil in order to contact Satan.

A Local New England Horror Movie
caspian197830 June 2002
The above comment on Night of the Beast is wrong. Maybe since the title is catchy, there could be more than one horror film out there with the same title. The horror film that was edited by Thomas A. Ohanian back in 1997 was directed by Bruce Haas in his home state of Rhode Island and surrounding states. Yes, it is hard to find a copy of this Independent Horror flick since it hasn't been purchased by a distribution office. Shot on 16mm, it is my opinion that Night of the Beast is the only Horror Film shot in Rhode Island. Yes, there have been several Independent Horror films shot on digital video, then again, Night of the Beast holds the honor of being shot on film.

A priest saves the world by listening to death metal
guitarphil8 January 2002
As a film rented out by me and my friends on the off chance this was indeed a little gem.

A priest starts to do evil as a way to summon the devil with the help of a drug quafing heavy metal fan obsessed with death metal.

Madcap adventures ensue as they end up recruiting a vain TV Psychic to assist them and the old devil himself turns up at the end.

This is a cracking little movie that anyone who enjoyed the likes of delicatessen will lap up.
