Violence & Gore

  • Only a few violent scenes but they are super graphic as well as the gore in this film however it is part of the story, Violence 6 / 10
  • A flock of birds fly into a plane propeller. Some of the birds explode into showers of gore and some splatters of blood are seen over the plane. A plane hits the edge tip of a cliff which crashes the plane into the water. One man died in the plane (blood seen) while three other men survived.
  • A bear attack results in a man having a chunk of his leg bitten (with a lot of blood) and then killed. He is dragged by the bear and eaten by it.
  • A man cuts his finger to attract bear to blood wanting to kill it. The bear charges at them wanting to surround themselves with fire so the bear cannot pass through.
  • The men have several encounters with a large bear that tries to attack them. They run from it several times, and in another scene they try to cross a fallen tree over a raging, river-filled gorge that one man is nearly swept away in.
  • The men, encircled by their own fires, anxiously watch for the bear that's hidden somewhere in the nighttime darkness. The next day, they similarly wait for the bear to show up and then have a rather dangerous encounter with it.
  • A man is shown with a bloody leg after falling into a bear trap where we see a sharpened stick jutting out of his leg. Later, as his friend takes off the tourniquet, bloody squirts out and runs from his wound and one of the other's hands are also soaked in his own blood.
  • A man and another man fight a bear by jabbing it with spears while it hits both of them with its paw. One gets sliced in the spleen with little blood. It then charges at the old man who impales the bear, killing it.
  • A man threatens another man with a shotgun and accidentally falls into a deadfall, luckily impaling his leg on a spike of wood; we see some closeups of the wound. He is sent in a cabin and treated by his wounds and sent on a boat. He dies from an infection.

Profanity

  • 13 "f" words (2 used with "mother") and the word "screwing" is used sexually, 14 "s" words, 5 hells, 3 S.O.B.'s, and 9 uses of "Jesus," 7 uses each of "G-damn" and "Oh God," 3 uses of "For God's sakes," and 1 use each of "My God," "Lord," "Christ," "Oh my God," "By God," "God" and "For the love of God" as exclamations.
