In Wendy McMahon’s first major executive hire since the CBS News chief took oversight of CBS Media Ventures, she has brought in veteran producer and development executive Stacy Rader as SVP, First-Run Development and Brand Extensions at CBS Media Ventures.
In her new role, Rader, who will be based in New York, will work with senior leadership to create and coordinate Cmv’s content strategy across platforms.
She succeeds Elaine Bauer Brooks, who departed her post as EVP, Development and MultiPlatform Content at CBS Media Ventures in August after nine years at the company on the heels of CBS Media Ventures President Steve LoCascio’s retirement amid a corporate restructuring that saw the division become part McMahon’s portfolio.

From Oprah to Ellen, daytime TV has found its own array of talk-show stars. But clearly the format isn’t for everyone.
Harry Connick Jr.‘s syndicated daytime talk show, “Harry,” was canceled by NBCUniversal Television Distribution in 2018 after only 2 seasons. It had aired on Fox-owned stations for a total of 299 episodes, though in the end, it failed to find its footing.
Jane Pauley was the widely admired cohost of “Today.” A natural fit for her own daytime show, right? Nope. “The Jane Pauley Show” premiered in 2004 and was canceled after just one season.
Everyone loves Tony Danza, right? Maybe not. The irrepressible former “Taxi” star premiered “The Tony Danza Show” in 2004. Audiences were apparently unimpressed by games like “Extravadanza!” and the show was yanked after two years.
“The Wayne Brady Show” arose out of his work on ABC’s primetime improv hit, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” But...

ABC has tapped veteran comedy writer-producers David Richardson (Two And A Half Men) and Ian Gurvitz (Frasier) to write the script for The Guys, a multi-camera comedy starring and executive produced by Tony Danza and executive produced by Vince Vaughn. The project revolves around three longtime male friends in Act Three of their lives. Danza is set to play one of the guys, with John Goodman eyed for another lead. The Guys reunites Danza with Gurvitz who created/executive produced the 1997 Danza sitcom The Tony Danza Show on NBC. ABC originally bought The Guys, based on an idea by Danza and his manager Dan Farah, in April for this development cycle. Vaughn is executive producing the ABC Studios-produced comedy with his producing partner at Wild West Picture Show Prods. Peter Billingsley as well as Danza and Farah. Richardson is with UTA and Industry; Gurvitz with Apa and Brillstein.

N.Y., Philly stirred into Ray's mix
ABC O&Os in New York, Philadelphia and four other markets have sealed deals with King World Prods. to carry the upcoming syndicated daytime talk show hosted by Food Network personality Rachael Ray. The deals in New York and Philadelphia -- the No. 1 and No. 4 TV markets in the country, respectively -- for the untitled Ray strip raise questions about the future of Buena Vista Television's The Tony Danza Show. Danza airs at 10 a.m. on WABC New York and WPVI Philadelphia. It's understood that the Ray show will be moving into those periods in fall 2006, though representatives for King World and the ABC-owned stations declined comment late Monday.

'Danza' lands Windy City slot
Buena Vista Television has just secured another daytime slot for its syndicated talker The Tony Danza Show. Chicago's WMAQ-TV, an NBC owned-and-operated station, will begin airing the freshman strip at noon starting in the fall; the show now airs at 1:40 a.m. on ABC O&O WLS-TV. (The distributor had said in January that Danza would be heading to a daytime slot in Los Angeles in the fall on Viacom's KCBS-TV/KCAL-TV from a late-night slot on ABC O&O KABC.) In Chicago, Danza will be taking over the time slot currently occupied by NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution's The Jane Pauley Show, but it's unclear where that show is headed. NBC Universal declined comment.
