Sex & Nudity

  • A character is discussed being in the pornography business, but none of his possible exploits are shown onscreen, and there is virtually no discussion of it onscreen either.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shot in the back of the head (We see blood spurt from his face). In an extended slow-motion scene, two men are ambushed and shot numerous times (Blood sprays). A man is beaten and thrown to the ground, where he is shot twice in the chest.
  • A man shoots another man in the shoulder (Blood spurts); the victim begins to crawl away as the attacker puts the gun to the victim's head and fires (Blood leaks from the top of his head and spurts).
  • A man is attacked in the street (He is punched several times and thrown to the ground, where he is kicked repeatedly). A man threatens another with a baseball bat. A twelve-year old boy is hit by a car (Abruptly), while riding a bicycle (We see him slamming into the windshield and him being thrown away).
  • A man attempts to shoot another man; the gun misfires. The attacker throws his victim to the ground and pistol whips him, before throwing sandbags on top of him. He attempts to fire again, but the gun doesn't work; he punches the victim and then is able to shoot him.
  • Two men are killed by a car bomb. A man is shot several times in the chest. Throughout the film, many discussions involving killing are depicted in a very calm mannerism. Killing is one of the chief topics of discussion throughout the film.

Profanity

  • Numerous uses of "fuck" (Bordering on a hundred). Milder language such as "son of a bitch", "bastard", "goddamn" etc. are also used.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character snorts cocaine briefly. The discussion of drug trafficking and dealing is a main topic throughout the course of the film, and several characters are discussed being in the business. Characters drink in several scenes.
  • Many characters smoke cigarettes (Not constantly however). A character who smokes is constantly berated by Gotti (Armand Assante) for doing so (It should be noted that the character later gets lung cancer in the events of the film).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some violent murder scenes pepper the film, and most are abrupt, intense and bloody.
