- Derek Bradshaw: [his hands on Amy's face] You are so beautiful. So sexy!
- [kisses her]
- Amy Miller: [thrilled] I am not.
- Derek Bradshaw: Oh, you don't even know it; that makes you all the more!
- [kisses her again and hugs her]
- Derek Bradshaw: Agh, come here, come here, come here,
- [mumbles]
- Derek Bradshaw: come here.
- [brings her down to sit near fireplace and kisses her again]
- Amy Miller: [realization] Oh, no.
- Derek Bradshaw: [looks out window slightly disinterested] What?
- Amy Miller: I have to be home by ten. My mom, you know. But this Saturday, I can stay over and I can say I'm at Dana's.
- Derek Bradshaw: [caresses her head] I'm not free most weekends. Pro bono case. I don't think I can get away 'til next Tuesday.
- Amy Miller: [laughs in happy disbelief] So I have to wait five whole days to see you again?
- Derek Bradshaw: I'll be thinking of you the whole time.
- [kisses her]
- Derek Bradshaw: Which reminds me.
- [dangles keys in front of her face]
- Derek Bradshaw: So you know that I'm not bringing anybody else here. And feel free to bring your friends anytime you want, okay?
- [caresses her face]
- Amy Miller: [smiles] You are so sweet, you know that?
- Derek Bradshaw: [smiles; slightly nods] Yes, I do.
- [chuckles a bit and proceeds to start making out with Amy while a shaky camera shot from the window indicates someone is watching]
- Dana: So, he takes me rollerblading. And we're having an awesome time, right? But then, he introduces me to his friend Ryan, and oh, my God, one look, and I'm ready to dial 911.
- Amy Miller: Dana, you have got to stop falling in love with every guy you meet.
- Dana: [shakes her head] Who said anything about love?
- Dana: Speaking of "to die for," I hear Justin Parker asked you to the Coolio concert, Saturday night.
- Amy Miller: I have to finish that college admissions essay this weekend.
- Dana: Wait a minute. You blew him off? Justin Parker is only the cutest guy in the whole school. I mean, his dimples should be registered as weapons.
- Amy Miller: [smirks] Along with his hormones and shoe size IQ like all the other dweebs our age.
- Dana: So we mature faster than them. Doesn't mean we have to sit around waiting for them to catch up.
- Amy Miller: Mm.
- Dana: [her phone rings, and she checks] My Dad. Reminding me I'm still grounded for getting a tattoo. Hey, you wanna come over tonight?
- Amy Miller: I better make an appearance at home or my Mom's gonna rent out my room.
- [both chuckle merrily]
- Amy Miller: The way she looked at me, with her husband right there!
- Jennifer: If that was me, I probably would have passed out or something.
- Amy Miller: I have this feeling that she *knows.* You know, that maybe she's the one that trashed my locker.
- Jennifer: I think you should drop this guy like a ton of bricks.
- Amy Miller: Oh, come on, Jen!
- Jennifer: He's practically twice your age, and he's... *married.*
- Amy Miller: He told me he was leaving his wife.
- Jennifer: Well, obviously, he hasn't said a word to her about divorce.
- Amy Miller: Well, it doesn't mean he's not going to. He will, when the time is right.
- Jennifer: And that's why you came here, to tell me this, right? Because you thought if you actually said it out loud, you might convince yourself?
- Amy Miller: Jen, I really love him.
- Jennifer: I know how it feels, but there's no future with this guy.
- Amy Miller: Yeah, it sounds easy, but it's not.
- Jennifer: I've been there. Who hasn't? But you'll be going off to school in a few weeks.
- Amy Miller: I know.
- Amy Miller: [after the sauna incident] Don't touch me!
- Derek Bradshaw: Why would I hurt you? You're the most important thing in my life.
- Amy Miller: Look, we already talked about this.
- Derek Bradshaw: This isn't about words. It's about caring.
- Amy Miller: If you really care about me... then leave me alone.
- Derek Bradshaw: You need some space. Okay.
- [nods]
- Derek Bradshaw: But that doesn't change the fact that we're still in love with each other.
- [his lips blow her a little kiss, then he turns around, leaving the locker room while Amy stares after him]
- Ruth Miller: You know, I remember when your Dad left and... I was so hurt and... angry. Let me tell you about angry! And yet, I - I hid it inside, because I thought if you saw that, I'd lose you too. You'd tell me you wanted to live with... And then one day we were... driving back home from one of your ballet classes - you must have been seven or eight - and you said "Are you all right, Mommy?"... and for some crazy reason I told you...
- [shakes her head]
- Ruth Miller: I told you how lonely I was, and... how afraid, and... I will never forget what you said. You said "I'm scared too, Mommy, but... isn't it better being scared together?"
- Amy Miller: [shakes her head] God, I said that?
- [sniffles, sighs]
- Amy Miller: I was smart, huh?
- [smiles tearfully]
- Ruth Miller: You still are.
- [nods]
- Ruth Miller: Look, I just wanted to say that whatever it is that's eating you up, Amy, I wish you could just tell me. Talk to me about it.
- Amy Miller: Thanks.
- [voice thick:]
- Amy Miller: But everything is fine.
- [Mom gives her a pat on the shoulder]
- Derek Bradshaw: [to Amy] Do you even know how exquisite you look? Of course, I wish you were wearing something I had given you.
- Amy Miller: What is this, some kind of lawyer thing? You think if you butter me up, I'll be your little mistress again?
