Sex & Nudity

  • There is a scene near the end where we see Richmond and Elizabeth in bed together after their honeymoon. They are both naked, and we get a brief glimpse of Elizabeth's breast. This scene is relatively tame compared to the other sex scene.
  • This film has one extremely graphic sex scene involving vigorous foreplay, bondage, and oral sex. It is extremely graphic, and it also ends with a very violent death right as the man orgasms.

Violence & Gore

  • The opening scene depicts an army bursting into the headquarters of the king by driving a tank through the wall. Soldiers then jump out and gun down everyone in the room with machineguns. Richard then bursts into the king's bedroom and shoots him in the head. This is scene is very violent and bloody.
  • A hospital/morgue shows several people severely injured and bloodied (many of them missing limbs) as a result of the recent war, as well as dead and mutilated corpses lying on tables.
  • Clarence is killed in this version by a murderer drowning him under the water while he is taking a bath. The other murderer then takes a knife and slits open his throat. Very gory, and the bathwater turns dark red from the blood.
  • A person is shown being hanged and his neck snapping
  • The two princes are shown being murdered in the tower by Tyrel. He ties a scarf around the little boys' faces and smothers them to death. Brief but very disturbing.
  • Queen Anne overdoses on heroin (supposedly intentionally). We see her dead, ashen-white corpse, as a spider crawls over her face.
  • Buckingham is brutally tortured and covered in blood while he cries in pain. We then hear him being executed by gunshot.
  • The final battle is very graphic and violent, portrayed using WWII vehicles and artillery
  • The very graphic sex scene (mentioned above) is also the most violent scene in the film. The man tied up during this scene is suddenly and very graphically murdered while a woman is performing oral sex upon him. We find out that he had been seduced and restrained for the intention of murdering him.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One extremely graphic scene where Queen Anne injects heroin into her leg. We see a close-up of the needle going into her skin.
  • A very great deal of alcohol consumption by adults, as well as constant smoking consistent with the era in which it is set

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A very frightening and sudden scene depicts a nightmare in which Richard's face distorts into that of an enraged, boarlike creature.
  • Strong and disturbing violence throughout
