Too many cooks spoiled the broth!!
nadkarnisumeet17 January 2021
Dushmani review :

Shekhar Kapur's incomplete film which was much delayed and finally completed by three other directors - writer Karan Razdan, Sanjay Khanna and ofcourse Bunty Soorma who was the co producer of this ill fated venture with the Morani Bros. 'Too many cooks spoil the broth' perfectly applied here and Dushmani turned out to be an unmitigated disaster. Best forgotten!!

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

Sunny Deol wasted by terrible direction!
valyriansteel-683495 February 2022
So many scenes without logic. Sunny Deol chooses to fight with the goons instead of taking his friend to hospital. The make up and hair do of Sunny and Jackie changes every other scene which means the movie was completed in later after major chunk was shot first. Sunny Deol who's is terrific in his dialogue delivery in movies like Ghatak, Damini and Ghayal is not given any meaningful dialogues. The movie could have be decent with some slick editing and proper reason between two enemies. It's very difficult to understand the reason for hate - there's no strong point anywhere in the plot. 1995 marked the end of action movies. The romantic era began with Shah Rukh from 1996 onwards. Nevertheless, we missed Sunny's powerful performances until Gadar happened.

Average until interval but gets worse again
superindrajit19 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Sunny Deol before and after Vishwatma 1992,went on doing more nonsense action movies where he only shouts and beats up the villain and his bad guys, dances like an idiot, but after the blockbuster Damini 1993, he did more nonsense movies which were worse than his earlier craps like Yodha. Coming to this movie Dushmani, the movie is another typical Hindi flick where their are two rival families and they hate each other so much that their is enemity(Dushmani) all over the city. Everyday killings happen, people die. But, the police don't do anything which surprises me because I thought the police would surely arrest Deol and beat him in prison like they did in 1990 blockbuster Ghayal and 1991 flop Yodha. The movie drags with corny and mediorce comedy, stupid loud laughs that Sunny Deol did like he was being tickled or something. Then, when the enemity was re-introduced and the problem with Jackie in hospital improved Sunny's character. His style of action is too good, the way he handled all those crooks was fabulous. However, the on goings with more village drama and comedy is boring and it drags with the problems given less attention. Until the point where finally everything patches up with a final action scenes with shooting only. However, the ending is crap making it another typical ending. In Yodha, the Dutt who was the killer dies and here the Shroff who was the gangster dies. Same element and Sunny assault rifles the villain. Acting is good, action is average. Overall, another average movie which sort of gets better after the interval and then again falls flat. The film was a hit at the box office but it should have been a flop!

Usual Hindi mas ala...
tsar_ina10 April 2005
Usual Hindi mas ala. Friendship, love, vengeance, hatred, fight, killings, ending. Story goes very interesting for the usual Hindi movie lovers. Jackie, Sunny, Anupam have all done a good acting. I got to see this movie in Sony Entertainment today. It was a Sunday afternoon and thought why not watch a Hindi movie. Long time you see. It has been a long time watching Hindi mas ala movie. So why not go for it. If you feel anytime like that. And if you get a chance to watch this movie then give it a shot. Nothing to loose. The score for this movie is 50%. Screenplay was good. Acting was good. Good Direction. The songs in this movie are average. I am not sure if any would sing again in you mind after the show.

Warning: Spoilers
Shekhar Kapur left 2 films midway, first being Joshilay which was completed and released in 1988 and it failed, This film however was stuck for 5 years and finally released after being completed by many directors, Karan Razdan, Sanjay Khanna, Bunty Soorma(though only 1 got credit) The film released in 1995 and flopped. The film has a very age old story, it is about a love story between scions of 2 underworld eniemies The film starts well, but the romance between Sunny and Manisha could be better, also the film gets predictable. There are some good scenes in the film sprinkled perhaps which was directed by Kapur.

Direction is inconsistent due to the different directors hndling the film Music is okay

Jackie Shroff has played similar roles before, in Parinda(1989) perhaps he signed the film at that time and he does a good job Sunny Deol has inconsistent looks at places and does a decent job Manisha Koirala's dubbing by someone else ruins her performance make her sound artificial and kiddish Anupam Kher is terrific as the villain, Deepti Naval is good, rest are all okay

Good movie
raju-476816 February 2021
This is a very good movie from the late 90s. Jackie Shroff as Jai, and Anupam Kher as Oberoi take the cake. You.literally hate Kher for his kameenapanti. Deepti Naval is also good.in the screen time she has
