A bit of fun...

Warning: Spoilers
SUHAAG (1994) is a bit of fun based around the creepy drama of a rich guy's gang that uses a charitable hospital to harvest and sell body parts. People are mysteriously dying on the operating table. There's a fairly ghoulish scene of a room piled with cadavers all with stitches over hearts and kidneys, etc.

With this 'stealing body parts' a the main plot, Suhaag is also rather comedic, sometimes even a little Monty Python, with Akshay playing the same sort of ape-ish goof-ball slap-stick routines that he does in INSAAN. I have no idea why anyone sees Akshay as a goofy comic …? He is very athletic, a good dancer, and he also is apparently quite good at martial arts, at least the 1990's BW style. He and Ajay make a nice double high-kicking' fist-smacking' pair - fighting mobs of evil guys.

There's one really nice scene where Ajay begs to embrace his Dad who has been falsely imprisoned - and who just happens to have the same looks as in hair & make-up, the shakes, and an almost identical blanket as SRK did in V-Z. Hmmm… Is this the BW classic "falsely imprisoned old guy" heroic male look?

There are a few good songs – one called Tera Liye Jaanam which sounded very familiar ... and is shot in and around the beautiful turquoise waters of Mauritius with Karisma. There is a fun scene with Akshay in the bubble bathtub, clad in only a scant bikini, doing a sort of shake-your-bootie dance number, with a towel and not much else. He looks good!

All in all Suhaag is a true blue everything-but-the-kitchen-sink BW romp through comedy, danger, violence, horror, I-love-Mom, prison & court room drama, and romance.

Decent

Warning: Spoilers
Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar team up for the first and last time in the 90's and brings a hit film known as Suhaag. The film is an original film made by the awesome Sandesh(Kuku) Kohili. This guy made Devgan's debut Phool Aur Kaante and a few other hits with Ajay Devgan. Akshay Kumar and Kuku's first and last film is also this. The story is typical yet it is well handled and the use of comedy in the first half is effective and the twist is good, not great though. The film is average-good in the first half, second half become good. The story is like this, Akshay and Ajay are two good college friends(typical), they are living their lives and getting into trouble as time passes through college. Akshay's dad wants Ajay to become a good worker in Canada if he wants all that good money. Ajay agrees and to get him a passport, he needs his birth certificate. Now, from here after all the romantic and comic stuff, the movie picks up and thw twist is revealed. Ajay learns that his dad is not dead and his mom has lied to him. His dad is in prison in Canada for selling illegal organs. Now, the duo go to Canada and solve the problems and bring Ajay's dad to justice. The movie becomes an action film and the climax is well handled with a decent action scene. Amongst actors, Ajay and Akshay both impress and entertain in both halfs, heroines are decent, supporting cast and Aruna Irani is good. Everyone is pretty good. Direction is good but not as good as Phool Aur Kaante and Haqeeqat for Ajay Devgan. Music is decent, too many songs though. Overall, another movie that worked and was a hit.

Typical 90s masala

Warning: Spoilers
after the success of PAK, Kuku Kohli and Ajay returned with Suhaag. The film released in 1994 when Ajay had other hits too as Dilwale. The film teamed him with Akshay Kumar That time Ajay had a relationship with Karisma and he did many films with her this was the last film of theirs, there had a break up before the film it seems. The first half is more on comedy where Akshay and Ajay have a game of one man upmanship, Akshay is introduced dancing semi nude to It's my life, his scenes with Nagma are funny, Ajay's scenes where he puts Akki in trouble are funny, there is also some drama in between but the real drama begins in pre-interval when Ajay finds out a twist in his life and the second half shifts to the hospital where kidneys are being illegally removed from people. We have a gory flahback where Ajay's father Romesh Sharma was tortured after he decided to tell the truth. Ajay scenes with Suresh Oberoi are well handled, In between there are lot of action scenes and some funny scenes too like the AIDS scene lol But the climax when they bring a dead Dalip Tahil to the court to testify is really stupid

Direction by Kuku Kohli is good Music is decent, Gore Gore is most remembered, picturised on Akshay and Nagma, they are rumours that the producers had a problem with Karisma and hence the song was not picturised on her. Rest songs like Wah Wah Yeh Nakra is good too rest are okay

Ajay Devgan is good in his rogue act in first half, he is known for being a prankster though lil ill at ease at times, but he is superb in second half in dramatic scenes Akshay Kumar too provides a good support act though he was raw in emotional scenes those days and not too good in comedy yet he does brings some laughs in this film. Karisma Kapoor is okay(her voice is dubbed)while Nagma is decent Suresh Oberoi is fab, Romesh Sharma overacts, Aruna Irani is as usual Dalip tahil is okay rest are okay

Great movie packed with action and comedy.

Suhaag wasn't a Big hit and is very underrated. To my opinion this was a hugely exciting movie with just one or two unrealistic scene. Ajay Devgan in a serious role does a great performance. Akshay Kumar is fantastic as the womaniser and slightly dim character. (Count how many times he gets slapped by a girl in this film = almost 100.) Karishma Kapoor doesn't get much scope, the less of her the better. Nagma is hardly in the movie since it is more related about the two friends and the life of Ajay Devgan. The movie has a good script about a Hospital with a few corrupt Doctors led by the man in charge Suresh Oberoi, who kills the poorer people and takes out their organs and sells them for the richer customers. Suhaag does have some breath taking amazing scenes which include Dalip Tahil using a Chain saw on Ajay Devgan and Ajay and Akshay using Dalips corpse as a witness in court. Sounds daft but has been executed tremondously.
