Selena Gomez has been in the public eye ever since she was very young. Starting at the age of ten, the actress starred in the hit children’s television series, Barney & Friends, which was followed by her getting cast in the iconic Disney series, The Wizards of Waverly Place.
Since becoming the high-profile celebrity that she is, the entire world seems to have become invested in her personal life, specifically when it comes to her romantic partners.

The singer and actress’s boyfriend, Benny Blanco, seems to be getting a similar sort of treatment from the media, for his entire life has been put under a microscope.
Interestingly enough, it would seem that he has been related to Gomez’s two ex-boyfriends in a way that many may not know. Blanco has professionally worked with both Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.

Justin Bieber was asked to join Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show, but declined. Usher says he understood the reasons, but didn’t elaborate on them.
In a preview clip from an upcoming interview on The Breakfast Club, Usher said, “I think that it might’ve been the fact that he’s just wanting to tell a different story right now, and I understand that. But we did have a brief conversation, and we’re gonna do something else in the future. No love lost or anything like that.”
Usher added that “Justin wasn’t the only person that I actually spoke to about doing the Super Bowl, but the moment was maybe for later,” he said. Chris Brown, he said, was not among those asked, as had been rumored.

The Beatles were just full of surprises. Paul McCartney said The Beatles’ “Drive My Car” (1965) contains a joke derived from a common theme in blues music. On the other hand, John Lennon barely had anything to say about the song.

In the 1997 book Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now, Paul recalled the writing of “Drive My Car.” “It was wonderful because this nice tongue-in-cheek idea came and suddenly there was a girl there, the heroine of the story, and the story developed and had a little sting in the tail like ‘Norwegian Wood’ had, which was ‘I actually haven’t got a car, but when I get one you’ll be a terrific chauffeur,'” he said. “So to me, it was LA chicks, ‘You can be my chauffeur,’ and it also meant ‘You can be my lover.

During a resurgence in concert films, Imax is releasing a dynamic, digitally remastered version of a classic Queen performance featuring Freddie Mercury, Brain May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, which will have a limited run Jan. 18-21 in select Imax locations.
Queen Rock Montreal, directed by Saul Swimmer for Mercury Studios, originates from filming two consecutive performances in Montreal during 1981. To create the imagery, the original 35mm negative was rescanned at 4K and restored for the release at OnSight, a London-based postproduction company, and Imax.
The songs were remixed from a 2007 5.1 version of the concert, and are now presented in Imax’s 12.0 sound format. The sound restoration was completed at London’s Halo, where the team worked with Kris Fredriksson and Justin Shirley-Smith from Queen Productions. The song was written in response to African poverty and was famously played at Live Aid in 1985, but it took on a new meaning at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday night in the aftermath of the massacre in Israel.

Queen ruled Baltimore’s Cfg Bank Arena Wednesday night (October 4th) as they kicked off their North American “Rhapsody Tour.”
Original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor — plus vocalist Adam Lambert — spent two hours tearing through over two dozen Queen tunes, with a career-spanning setlist that featured both their biggest hits as well as fan-favorite deep cuts.
Notably, the band played “Is This the World We Created…?” live with Lambert for the first time, and dusted off “Stone Cold Crazy” after more than five years.
May, Taylor, and Lambert were backed by Queen’s longtime keyboard player Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough, and percussionist Tyler Warren, comprising an ensemble whose sound filled the entire arena. It was a night that served as a tribute to Freddie Mercury, keeping his songs and spirit alive without ever overshadowing his bright legacy.

More than 1,400 of Freddie Mercury ‘s personal items, including his flamboyant stage costumes, handwritten drafts of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the baby grand piano he used to compose Queen’s greatest hits, are going on display in a free exhibition at Sotheby’s London ahead of their sale.
The vast collection of the singer’s personal belongings, which had been left to Mercury’s close friend Mary Austin, had remained undisturbed in his west London mansion for 30 years since his death in 1991.
Austin, 72, said in a BBC interview in April that she has decided to sell almost all the items to “close this very special chapter in my life” and “put my affairs in order.”
Among the hundreds of Mercury’s personal treasures were previously unseen working drafts of hits “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “We Are the Champions” and ”Somebody to Love”.

Can anybody find Puppet Simon somebody to love? Asking for Simon Cowell. Puppet Simon and the Cow Belles wow the America’s Got Talent Season 18 audience with their rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” in the Tuesday, July 11 episode on NBC, and TV Insider has an exclusive look at the performance in the video above. Dressed in a white tee and aviator glasses, a classic Cowell look, Puppet Simon and the Cow Belles rock out to the even more classic tune in the clip. As fans will see, the group has already received an X from judge Sofia Vergara at this point in the song. While Cowell’s looking more bemused than amused, he hasn’t given the group the axe just yet. Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel look thoroughly entertained by it all, shooting Cowell some wry smiles. Working Cowell into an act seems to be an increasingly common tradition on America’s Got Talent.

Taylor Hawkins was sunshine incarnate. The late Foo Fighters drummer – also a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist – had an unrivalled sense of positivity and joie de vivre. His megawatt smile could power a stadium show all of its own.
The first of two tribute concerts to Hawkins, who died aged 50 in March this year, does its utmost to summon that same energy. Gathered here at Wembley Stadium are some of Hawkins’s closest friends – the surviving Foos members, of course – family, collaborators and admirers, for a six-hour marathon of a show. Understandably, the mood that fills the 80,000-capacity venue is a strange one. Hawkins’s favourite songs are played ahead of the late-afternoon start time – Abba, Elo, George Michael – but no one feels like dancing just yet.

Universal Pictures has released the first – and decidedly Nsfw – trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy “Bros,” and it paints a hilarious portrait of a gay man trying to find love.
In a meta twist, Billy Eichner co-wrote and stars in the film as a podcast host who’s enlisted to write a gay romantic comedy, and the story follows his burgeoning relationship with a man played by Luke Macfarlane (“Killjoys”). Described as a “smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy” the story chronicles “how hard it is to find another tolerable human being to go through life with.”
“Bros” is a first in a number of ways. Eichner is the first openly gay man to co-write and star in his own major studio film, and the movie features an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast including Ts Madison (“The Ts Madison Experience”), Monica Raymund (“Chicago Fire”), Guillermo Díaz (“Scandal”), Guy Branum (“The Other Two...

Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”
Michael K. Williams is another life lost too soon. While we wait for the official cause of death, it’s been reported that drug paraphernalia was found near the 54-year-old Williams’ body and authorities are investigating his demise as an overdose. The history of Hollywood is marked by so many similar endings. While no two deaths from addiction are alike, one thing that most in our industry have in common is the struggle of artistic souls falling deep into substance abuse before trying to reclaim their lives with recovery. Williams was open and honest about his demons. “A lot of people often think that when a person puts down the drug or the alcohol that all the problems go away. That couldn’t be further from the truth,” the actor said this year during an appearance on Tamron Hall’s talk show.

“America’s Got Talent” found us a new Season 16 contestant to love Tuesday with the introduction of Dylan Zangwill, a 14-year-old boy who has an impressive set of pipes. The teen competitor used his voice to channel Freddie Mercury in an unbelievable rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love.”
Dylan, who is from Exton, Pennsylvania, played the piano and sang during his performance of the classic Queen track for “AGT” judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel and host Terry Crews.
It only took until the very first high note in the song (around the 1:10 mark) for the audience to begin to cheer as Zangwill’s Mercury-like energy became apparent.
Though we could barely stand on our feet when Dylan was done, he managed to get three of the judges up on theirs and rallied the audience for a standing ovation, too.

Aj McLean and Cheryl Burke were eliminated on Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars,” one week shy of the semifinal, but the pro is more frustrated by the judges’ scoring than their unfortunate fate.
“There’s rules in ballroom, and as far a I’m concerned, this is a ballroom show, I thought,” Burke told “Entertainment Tonight” (watch below). “What are the rules? What are you expecting? Are the rules the same as when Len [Goodman] was here or is it different? Is this a ballroom competition or is this not?”
The two-time pro feels that the judges are inconsistent with their critiques and scoring. “It’s just not consistent as far as, Ok, you can’t break hold in quickstep yet you’re giving out perfect scores when people are breaking hold,” she noted. “What are the rules? Same thing with the tango. You’re not supposed to break hold.

Monday’s episode of Dancing With the Stars served as the Season 29 quarterfinals, or, phrased differently, the third-to-last broadcast of the season.
It was also Icons Night, a fact the competition series would not let us forget as each contestant honored a different music legend. “Britney Spears is just iconic,” remarked Kaitlyn Bristowe. “George Michael is such an icon,” said Johnny Weir. If you’d been playing a drinking game with that word at home, your liver would have waved the white flag after about 20 minutes.

The lucky seven remaining couples on “Dancing with the Stars” will hit the floor twice on Monday’s Icons Night — except for one.
After the individual routines, which will pay tribute to the stars’ favorite music icons, the pairs will face off one-on-one in three dance-offs. And if you haven’t heard, seven is, in fact, an odd number, so that means one couple won’t have to lace up their shoes: Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson will receive immunity from the dance-off because they topped the leaderboard last week and have the highest cumulative score of the season.
The judges will select a winning couple from each dance-off to earn two additional bonus points. Schulman and Johnson will automatically get two additional points as part of their immunity.
Here are the individual Week 9 routines:

Lady Antebellum has become the latest musical act to score a No. 1 hit single from NBC’s songwriting competition “Songland.”
The band selected songwriter Madeline Merlo’s “Champagne Night” as the song the seven-time Grammy Award-winning trio would record together and release as a “Songland” single. The track slid on up to the top of the iTunes County Chart Tuesday following Monday night’s episode.
“Champagne Night’ is the eighth song from the NBC competition series to top an iTunes chart. The last one to do it was OneRepublic’s “Somebody to Love,” which climbed No. 1 on the iTunes Pop Chart and No. 2 on the Overall chart back in September after its release following the first season finale.

The Leopard pounced into the semi-final of “The Masked Singer” with a powerful performance of “We Are Young” by Fun on Tuesday’s show. On the December 11 episode of the reality competition series. the Leopard will be vying for one of just three places in the final. Also in the hunt are four other famous folk who are competing as the Flamingo, Fox, Rottweiler and Thingamajig.
We think that the Leopard has the best voice of the bunch. We were shocked when he landed in the bottom 2 in week 7 but blame his song choice: “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. We weren’t surprised when he won the sing-off with his rollicking rendition of “Don’t Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls.
We’ve taken another look at those performances as well as his other three appearances. In week 2, he owned the stage with his cover of the Queen classic “Somebody to Love.

The Leopard scared up enough votes in his first four appearance on “The Masked Singer” to make the quarter-final on December 10. He is competing for a place in the semi-final alongside celebrities disguised as the Flamingo, Fox, Rottweiler, Thingamajig and Tree. Each is hoping to win the audience vote and avoid a sing-off in front of the four judges.
The Leopard first took to the stage in week 2 with a rollicking version of the Queen classic “Somebody to Love.” Two weeks later, he showed us his versatility with a version of “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes. In week 5 he covered Katy Perry‘s signature song “Teenage Dream.” We were surprised in week 7 when his performance of “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire put him at risk. But he rallied and won the showdown with “Don’t Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes.

“The Masked Singer” is mixing up the groups and the first newly combined quartet of contestants takes to the stage on the November 20 episode. Competing for the audience vote and hoping to win over the four judges are celebrities disguised as the Flamingo, Flower, Leopard and Rottweiler.

Sean Spicer and Lindsay Arnold: Viennese waltz
