Typical 90s revenge drama film!!
sauravjoshi852 April 2023
Khuddar is an action film directed by Iqbal Durrani. The film stars Govinda, Karishma Kapoor, Late Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Late Shreeram Lagoo, Anjana Mumtaz, Raju Shrestha, Late Mahesh Anand, Navneet Nishan , Late Rami Reddy and Jack Gaud.

A revenge-seeking politician takes on an honest police officer's family by hiring him as his bodyguard. The officer, however, refuses to serve him and decides to expose him instead.

We have seen many such films and such films were in abundance during 90s and this film is also no exception. This film also has some romance, some comedy, some drama, some emotion and lots of action.

The plot of the film is a typical 90s revenge drama film, the execution is average and screenplay of the film is decent. Acting is superb specially by Govinda who steals the show with his impeccable performance despite of some talented actors. Songs of the film is good and few of the songs were a rage in those time. Climax of the film is predictable and ends the film on a happy note.

Overall a typical 90s action drama film and can be watched once.

All-out Action Film !
Maz-1122 March 1999
Govinda takes a break from his usual comedy antics to star in this brilliant action film. The movie stars Govinda, Karishma Kapoor, Kader Khan, Mahesh Anand, Rammi Reddy and in a brilliant performance, Shakti Kapoor.

It is a very good film, but be warned that there are some scenes which are unsuitable for young children.

Crap from the 90s
winak28 June 2020
In comedy no one comes close to Govinda, however when it comes to serious roles he doesn't do so well, He tends to overact as seen in this movie. Some movies are best enjoyed in the year and decade they are made. If you watch it outside that time zone you want to throw up. The overly intense look Govinda carries throughout the movie makes it irritating and laughable at times. The extremely filmy dialogues make you want to gag. So if you see this movie on TV please switch to another channel to avoid brain damage. Govinda always complains he was typecast into comedy roles, this and such movies will provide the answer why.

Govinda's finest but highly underrated performance
nadkarnisumeet25 March 2022
Khuddar review:

Known mainly for comedy, Khuddar was a rare instance where Govinda played an intense role of a honest upright cop who fights corruption sparing none, not even his own brother!! The film, directed by Iqbal Durrani, showcased the versatility of the star in one of his fantastic but highly underrated performance.

Karisma Kapoor was his heroine whose character trajectory moves from a cabaret dancer to a doting mother. Unfortunately, she received severe flak for this movie, particularly her raunchy 'Sexy sexy sexy mujhe log bole' number which was toned down by the conservative Indian censors to 'Baby Baby'.

The villain brigade was also fresh and dynamic. Mahesh Anand played the dangerous Babu Jaan while Navneet Nishan oozed sex appeal as his moll Jenny. Her bathtub scene with Anand drew catcalls from the front benchers at Kohinoor Cinema, Dadar where I watched this film in its first weekend. Raju Shreshta (the oh so innocent Master Raju of the '70s) was cast in a negative role of Govinda's brother who is actually a blue filmmaker.

Shakti Kapoor's Adarsh Vardhan was also a well etched character who evolves from a corrupt cop to a sinister politician and wreaks havoc in Govinda's life. "Bura toh nahi lagaa na", he keeps taunting Govinda. In one scene, he even orders the cop on duty Govinda to fetch his slippers.

Khuddar was a well directed venture but didn't do as well as expected. Maybe Govinda's image of comic hero went against him and the audience didn't accept him in a brooding avatar. Its kinda sad as the film had one of his finest performances till date. Just watch his expressions in the emotional scene where he realises his blind wifey Karisma has fed poisoned milk to their baby. Now that's what I call acting, boss!!

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

Watch it for govinda

Khuddar is a remake of tamil film walter vetrivel. Story has nothing new to offer. Screenplay is average and of course its filled with all those clichés of 90s. But one can ignore those for govinda's performance. Govinda who we all remember for his comic roles, gives here an intense and impeccable performance as a no nonsense cop. His dialogues are clapworthy. After watching this film, I realised what a versatile actor is govinda.

Govinda shows his brilliance!!
chetan_r41113 October 2012
For those who label "Govinda" as a comic actor, they need to see this movie!! When this movie was written, the writer must have thought of "Ajay Devgan" or "Sunil Shetty" as the protagonist, as they were doing many such films at that time. "Govinda" changed his usual style and delivers a high octane performance. His eyes did the talking in emotional scenes. I couldn't believe he could be so brooding. He showed flashes of this during the second half of "Shola aur Shabnam", but that movie had some comedy too. Here it is just the high octane, emotionally charged "Govinda" mouthing dialogues like "Amitabh" used to mouth in 70s. Comedy was left to Kader Khan in a small role. The villains in this movie were lecherous and heinous, be it "Shakti Kapoor", "Raami Reddy" and everybody else, especially "Shakti Kapoor", who delivered a knocked out performance. "Karishma Kapoor" was the best, when it comes to Govinda's pair. Their chemistry was impeccable. Music was very melodious and was in sync with 90s tradition."woh aankh hi kya", "tum sa koi pyara" and "tum maano ya na maano" all were soothing to the ears. "Sexy , sexy , sexy" was different but it proved its importance, as it created enough controversy needed to help the movie on box office. There were many scenes that were not suitable for young audience. Dialogues were the highlight of the movie, with most of them being adrenaline pumping, especially the one "Govinda" tells "Shakti Kapoor" in the climax. This movie was an example of his unlimited talent and I would say every person who thinks of him as a comedian must watch this movie. It is sad, he didn't do many such movies, but it is same as saying why "Shahrukh" didn't so may movies like "Darr" and "Anjaam".

Govinda at his Best!!
namashi_111 February 2011
Govinda is one of the most talented actors of Hindi Cinema today. I loved him as a kid, and I remember him being hailed as the 'King of Comedy Films' back in the day. But in 'Khuddar' he battles his usual 'Comedic' image and sinks his teeth into an out-and-out Action-Packed, Serious role.

'Khuddar' is the same old story of the Good Versus the Bad. It's a battle between Truth & Pride. The regular action, emotional scenes, loud-fight sequences, hit songs and finally a highly anticipated climax.

Director Iqbal Durrani handles this 1994 fare very nicely. And I must credit him for casting Govinda in a completely serious and heavy-duty role. The Songs are good.

Acting wise, Govinda clearly rules the show. He is Brilliant from start to end. Karishma Kapoor is good. Kader Khan is superb. Shakti Kapoor is at his menacing best! Mahesh Anand is intimidating. Rami Reddy is adequate.

On the whole, A Must Watch for Die-Hard Govinda Fans!
