MYSTIC NONSENSE
J. Steed23 October 1999
This is part 4 of Rudolf Thome's series "Forms of Love". Again searching for the meaning of love Thome confronts us with 2 couples and a nun, all looking for real love. This is in the beginning slightly amusing and Thome does have something to tell. When though Lydia meets a man with a cross on his shoulder who calls himself Jesus, things drift into Thome's regular theme of semi-intellectual mysticism and other philosophical nonsense. Such profound statements as "The Secret of the Universe is Love" are made. Hmm, I always thought that the secret of the universe was its origin. This time the esoteric sophism is mostly done during breakfasts.

Let me be clear on one point: this is certainly not a badly made film. Thome shows that in a minimum of time he can make his point, he directs well and the cinematography is good. But it also seems as if Thome lives another planet, and maybe he does. Those who are into his train of thought may have a great time.
