Much sought after drek
bek-126 August 2000
This is one of those movies that go out of print and are very expensive on eBay. This movie is a little-known, fairly amateurish flick that has the strong advantage of being the only movie that Shannon Doherty appears in multiple nude scenes (looking very seductive, I might add). It also has the minor advantage of being popular in the smoking fetish arena. It's a fairly mediocre attempt at a horror/drama/whodunit movie. It tries a little misdirection, but you can see what's coming a mile away. Shannon does a decent job with her role, but the woman playing her sister is straight out of amateur-night, as is Shannon's husband character. Avoid, unless you're one of the groups I mention above. Now, let's hit eBay and see if we can unload this thing. 8)

latenite tv, or maybe a gratuitous rental

was this in theatre's? did people go see it? i guess this could have stirred up some hype since it stars shannen doherty (and her surprisingly hot body) and came off her departure from 90210. even now, in 2002, shannen is the main reason to see this movie. the plot is unoriginal and the acting is just passing, but the movie is decently directed. i saw shannen on Charmed a few times and thought she looked good so when i was channel surfing one nite and she came on, i stayed with the program a bit. i was very surprised to see her get naked in this movie since i always considered her a bit of a prude and thought that she also would have been beyond taking such roles after her success on 90210. not that i'm complaining. she looked great and i am not digressing from my intention to review this movie: shannen is this movie. nothing stands out from this whole feature but her, thus i'm not surprised that only 4 females have reviewed Blindfold: Acts of Obsession so far. 5/10: average.

A Very Big Disappointment!

I for one was actually expecting this movie to be pretty good, maybe my expectations were a bit to high, but the fact is I love Judd Nelson. In fact he is the only reason this movie is worth watching and really his role isn't all that great. The main highlights of this film are raunchy sex scenes and boring dialog. If those are the highlights I'm sure your getting a pretty good idea of what kind of film this is. There is definitely a reason this was a made for television film. Only see this one if you have nothing better to do on a Friday night or just like to waste money on video rentals. Save your time and rent The Breakfast Club!

There's only one reason to watch this. You know what it is!

Warning: Spoilers
This is the type of late-night cable flick usually associated with Andrew Stevens or Shannon Tweed. Though unlike most of Tweed and Stevens' T&A fueled vehicles, this is lethally dull!

Let's cut to the chase. The real reason for watching this non-thriller is to see Shannon Doherty's breasts. Anyone who states otherwise is a LIAR! However, most of her steamy sex scenes appear to be all smoke and mirrors.

Notice that all the shots where her head and chest show at the same time are quick peek-a-boo flashes. The frames where the camera lingers on her nude body, there's little or no face attached or she's behind a dripping, wet shower door.

All you boob-watchers out there know what that means - Body double!

I must admit though, that the finale where Doherty is bound, blindfolded and menaced with a knife, provided a certain fetishistic thrill.

If you find a VHS copy anywhere, buy it! As all involved are probably too embarrassed to ever let this come out on DVD!

Pretty wicked

I caught the unrated version of this on one of the movie channels late the other night. I hadn't ever heard of this one. It was pretty much just a 90s erotic thriller. I do wonder if Shannen Doherty used a body double for all of her nude and sex scenes. She plays a rich woman in this one who begins to see a therapist played by Judd Nelson after she and her husband begin having intimacy problems. Her therapist suggests that she begin a series of sex games with her husband. While all of this is going on, she discovers her detective sister is hunting a serial killer who is murdering young women and could possibly be linked to her therapist. This movie is full of erotic scenes with kink and bondage. The murders arent too graphic either. The killer blindfolds the women and handcuffs most of them, then uses a switchblade to reveal their nude chests and then slashes them to death. I wont reveal the identity of the killer, but it becomes obvious towards the middle of the film.

A suspense movie about serial killings, and sex.
spandi23 March 1999
This movie was full of suspense, and intercourse. I found it to be on the edge of crossing the line, but when it ended, I found that it was held up to my expectations. This is a great cop film, for those who like that sort of thing, and a sex movie, getting a little past the R rating, but hey, who said kids should watch it. You should!

Sex, strangulation and Shannen Doherty
mulder7317 August 1999
I have been a huge Shannen Doherty fan since her days on Our House. When I heard she would be starring in Blindfold and have several nude scenes,it was a no brainer. The story on it's own is mediocre. I was so interested in looking at Shannen it took several viewings for me to know what the movie was about. The best reason to rent or buy Blindfold is Shannen Doherty. She definitely carries it. As the late great Chris Farley once said, two words;rewind and pause.
