IMDb has been the go-to source for movie information on the Internet since 'Nam, and it (obviously) takes its work seriously. So it's rare that you'll find a synopsis for a well-known movie that's anything but diligent and professional.
That's what makes those moments when you do find a bad IMDb synopsis special. But what makes a "bad" IMDb synopsis, exactly? In this case, we measured it by two things: undertones of laziness, or undertones of snark — and in some cases, both.
We found 10 in a hopeless place.
1. 'Friends with Benefits' (2011)
Analysis: To be fair, the plot of this movie should really just be "Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake take you on a first class trip to Poundtown," as that's the reason the movie exists and sold tickets. But context aside, the above synopsis would have definitely had a Microsoft Word green squiggly underline underneath it signifying the...

We're not allowed to properly review the advanced pilot screeners sent to us by networks, but we Are allowed to chit-chat about them and give you an idea of what to expect. Subject: Kevin Bacon, 52-year old American actor and musician
Date of Assessment: June 1, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Underrated, intense, villain
Negative Buzzwords: Typecast, Madoff
The Case: Horror fans will remember Kevin Bacon's first mainstream turn in Friday the 13th, but it was really Footloose that catapulted him to the walls of teenage girls everywhere and then (not too much longer afterwards) ceremoniously dropped him in the gutter. Through sheer talent and a willingness to appear in some really awful films as well as a handful of really good ones, Kevin Bacon has somehow survived through multiple decades of a Hollywood career. Just recently, he has also had the dubious pleasure of emerging as one of Bernie Madoff's victims. While Bacon admits that the experience has indeed affected some of his decisions on what work to accept, he is also a realist and admits that, sometimes, an actor just needs the work.

In casting news that harks back to the days of Blue Chips, Space Jam and The Air Up There, Universal Pictures and producer Brian Grazer have signed NBA star LeBron James to star in the upcoming basketball-themed comedy Fantasy Basketball Camp. The film will follow five guys who sign up to attend the LeBron James Adult Basketball Camp in Las Vegas. (Why Vegas? I guess after The Hangover all comedies are required to have a Vegas setting...) James is then dragged into all their personal...

Zac Efron is slated to star in a remake of Footloose, the film that launched Kevin Bacon'S career. Bacon himself has no time for nostalgia, so don't expect him to sit down and watch Footloose, The Air Up There or, even, Mystic River. Sixty four films into his career, Bacon explains why the past, to him, is the past. [...]...

I felt no emotional connection whatsoever to The Express. It's not because I'm not a sports fan. I relate to most great sports classics on a storytelling level, like Rocky, Rudy and The Air Up There. The Ernie Davis story has all the makings of a poignant, rousing triumph over adversity, but it blows it on every count.
Movie Review: The Express
Right away the PG racism seems tame, although I did give it credit at least for being PG-13. I didn't know you could use the N-word at all in a PG. Anyway, the pre-title tease is so lame, if that's their intro they don't have much to come.
