Kinetic Content owns the reality space for relationship shows. From “Married at First Sight” and “Love Is Blind” to “The Ultimatum” and “Perfect Match,” the production company knows what viewers want. And now, they’re branching out.
In early 2022, Kinetic EVP and co-head of development Karrie Wolfe read a story about how America’s love for “Yellowstone” was helping launch professional bull riding (Pbr) as a team sport. Last year, the sport launched a team series, creating a whole new world for the sport — and for Wolfe.
“You have these billionaires that were bringing together these amazing bull riders, and it was actually happening. There were eight new franchises being established, and they were going to be starting this format, these competitions in July — there was going to be a draft,” Wolfe says. “There was this perfect storm happening where there was this craving for Americana, the Western culture and...

Renée Zellweger’s career had an inauspicious beginning, with “blink-and-you’ll-miss-’em” roles in films like Dazed & Confused, Reality Bites, and 8 Seconds. But she hit “show me the money!” status — literally — when she got a big role in Cameron Crowe’s Jerry Maguire, which found her sharing the screen with Tom Cruise. Ironically, it’s a […]

When Luke Perry died on Monday at age 52 after suffering a stroke last week, most fans instantly thought of his role as the heartthrob Dylan McKay on the Nineties megahit and cultural phenomenon Beverly Hills 90210. It was as iconic a role in modern television as they come and one Perry would be synonymous with, however reluctantly, throughout his life.
Still, despite the overall significance of Beverly Hills 90210, Perry’s roles in cult films like 1992’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 1997’s The Fifth Element and, especially, 1994’s 8 Seconds have had a...

Just last week, fans of Fox’s beloved teen soap “Beverly Hills, 90210” were thrilled by the announcement that a long-rumored revival was official in the works. That same day, actor and original star Luke Perry suffered a massive stroke, a medical emergency that led to his untimely death five days later. Even though the actor had not signed on to be a part of the series, there was still hope that he’d participate, as the new take on the beloved series was still in the early stages of development. After all, the revival has a twist that seemed perfect for Perry’s sensibilities: The actors are playing themselves.
In the revival, original stars Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling will return — not to reprise their roles on the primetime soap that made them famous — but to play irreverent, heightened versions of their real-life selves.

Los Angeles – His image, as a brooding heartthrob on the Fox-tv series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” was reflective of the early 1990s. Luke Perry represented both the image and the show, and he died on March 4th, 2019, after suffering a massive stroke on February 27th. He was only 52 years old.
Coy Luther “Luke” Perry III was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and set out for Los Angeles after graduating high school. He found work in soap operas in 1987 and ’88, with “Loving” and “Another World.” But he broke out big in 1990 as Dylan McKay on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” for his role as an outsider character in a high school gang that included Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley), Brenda Walsh (Shannon Doherty), Kelly Taylor (Jenny Garth) and Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering). He left after Season Six, but came back to finish with the series for Seasons Nine and Ten.

A little over 25 years ago, I spent some time with Luke Perry for a cover story in a now-defunct magazine. This was back in the days of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” when he was getting mobbed everywhere and had to be snuck out of mall appearances in a laundry hamper.
I remember sitting in my room at the Sunset Marquis while I waited for Luke to show up for the first interview and worrying that he wasn’t the kind of guy who would like me — i.e., I was a shy nerd and he had those sideburns and also a pot-bellied pig for a pet.
I was surprised to find how real and funny he was, how skeptical he was of his sudden fame, how he thought the whole laundry-hamper thing had probably been staged without his knowing.
He thought about taking me to a strip club for the first interview,...

They weren’t in cars getting coffee, but on Friday night Jerry Seinfeld and Norm Macdonald had a funny — and somewhat puzzling — exchange on the latter’s show.
Though best known for his “What’s the deal with…” style of observational humor, Seinfeld is no stranger to more heady fare. Case in point: what he describes as “the greatest Jew joke that I’ve ever heard,” though it comes with a catch: Macdonald and other non-Jews might not get it. “That’s the joke, is that you won’t get it.”

Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.
Here is the complete list, including my favorite lost song of the decade. Thank you for taking this 80's road trip with me ... but it's not over yet! I'll be featuring a new Lost Hit once a week in the Wednesday Briefs, so the history lesson will continue!
Let the countdown commence, and remember ... keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars!

Prosecutors played a recording Wednesday in which a rambling Michael Jackson says in slurred language that he plans to build a hospital for children with proceeds from his comeback concerts. Here is a transcript of the recording made by Dr. Conrad Murray, the defendant in the involuntary manslaughter case.
Jackson: "Elvis didn't do it. Beatles didn't do it. We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, I've never seen nothing like this in my life. This is a Recap of Top Chef D.C. (Season 7), Episode 12, Part 1 of the Finale, originally airing September 8, 2010. D.C. now gives way to D-Cingapore. What? Just move on from this Italics part. Welcome to Singapore! The culinary capital of the area right around Singapore! Your host for the Finale will be Seetoh, the Asian Cee-Lo, and owner of the lamest lower-third of the entire season: “King of Street Food” — it’s like being the King of Pop, but homeless. Cee-Lo takes the chefs around to different street food stands and introduces them to the many spices and styles of Singaporese (Singaporian? Singlish? Gotta be Singlish) cuisine, and in the middle of their little food jaunt, the chefs encounter Padma. Oh no, a twist! Bravo didn’t just send them to Singapore to chill and look at that modern-ass skyline building! The chefs will be cooking in a street space...
