"Wild" is right....
Mister-64 December 1999
Okay, "Wild Cactus" is supposed to be some kind of escaped convict hostage drama. At least that's the film-makers' story.

And that's why we watch it, right guys?

Yeah...as long as it has a lot of female nudity, kinky situations and creative use of maple syrup.

Allen (once and future Playmate) shows her acting talents as Naughton's wife and what a wife; she'll go to any lengths to help spice up their dormant marriage (any kind of relationship with Allen would have to be anything BESIDES dormant, wouldn't it? Oh well....).

Anyway, Hudson (yeah, one of the Hudson Brothers) has just been released from prison and is looking for a little excitement. After hooking up with a nicely unbalanced Moffett and killing two ex-girlfriends, he looks for new avenues to travel and finds them when Naughton and Allen happen into view.

I can't believe that I actually bothered to describe what passes as a plot here. Guys, listen - women get naked, there's simulated sex, low-budget intensity, a blonde putting on a strip show (YOWZA!) for Hudson and the obligatory traveling salesman who comes to the wrong door at the wrong time. All the while Gleason (from a lot of John Hughes movies) slums as a local sheriff trying to solve the murders.

Anyone looking for real plot and motivation, look elsewhere. This was made by Jag Mundhra, who is not exactly a character-motivated director. But at least he knows what sells: lots of rampant well-proportioned female nudity.

Now THAT'S entertainment.

Six stars. Actually, I think that the title, "Wild Cactus", is explained somewhere along here but for some reason, I was distracted.

erotic thriller B-movie
SnoopyStyle18 March 2016
Philip and Alex Marcus are struggling in their marriage. Philip gets a research grant to spend 6 weeks in Black Rock Springs, Arizona to study desert plants. Randall Murphy gets out of jail for assault and is tracking down his ex Celeste, who put him in prison, to Arizona. He's a cold-blooded killer and picks up wild hitchhiker Maggie on the way. They rob a local gas station. Randall rescues Philip at a dive bar and he gives Randall his address. After Celeste, Randall and Maggie show up at the Marcus place.

This is not horrible as far as these 90's erotic thrillers go. The acting is second rate although Gary Hudson is a solid villain. India Allen's best assets have nothing to do with acting. There is the prerequisite nudity. There are plenty worst movies out there but I wouldn't call this good.

Not good, but watchable sure.

Warning: Spoilers
In Wild Cactus, a married couple cross paths with a murderous ex-convict and his partner in crime during a desert retreat.

Despite being plotless, it's an okay film with plenty of perks. Hitchhiker Michelle Moffett's the best of the bunch. Bad actor David Naughton from "An American Werewolf in London" plays the husband unfortunately. I do like that the criminal, Randall's actually doing whatever the hell he wants though. That simple element's often overlooked, wouldn't say Gary Hudson's good in the role however. The relationship and dialogue between the husband and wife's quite poor as a base-point.

By the numbers soft-core flick. Had major potential.

Wild Cactus (1993) was made by the same film crew that shot the brilliant Other Woman (1992). However this one is the opposite. What could have been another awesome film turned out to be a bore. Why didn't they just follow the blueprint to their last film? I don't know, they tried to be like all the others and it failed. Even the mandatory girl-on-girl scene was dry as the climate they were shooting in. I was disappointed with this one. I mean you have two good looking women and the film-makers just couldn't pull it off.

A waste of time. Don't go out of your way to try and find this one because it's not worth it, A shame really, it had so much potential to be a real winner. The only way I would recommend this one is if you happen to catch on Cinemax, other than that don't bother.

Not recommended.

D

Even though it has a girl-on-girl scene, don't bother because it'll only get you even more frustrated.

Predictable, full of genre cliches, but not bad even so.
smatysia22 January 2000
This film couldn't be more formulaic to its genres, those being (1) bad-guy(s)-terrorize-innocent-people, and (2) late-night-cable-T and A. Having said that, I must admit that it does so much better than average. The actors seemed to actually try, and no major character turned in a performance that he or she needs to be ashamed of. India Allen is lovely, and while no Meryl Streep, did pretty darned good for an ex-model. Gary Hudson is reliably evil. The real jewel of this film, however, was Michelle Moffett as Maggie. While some of the simulated sex was pretty cheesy, the other nude scenes were hot. I would have given this one a 5 without them...but I ended up giving it a 7.

Sexy and Violent
cuthwy12 August 2015
For people that love erotic movies and softcore pornography, this movie is a great choice. This film is filled with sex, violence, deceit and betrayal. I loved Gary Hudson's role as the badass Randall who wasn't afraid of anybody and that got every woman he wanted. Also, the performances from David Naughton, India Allen and Michelle Moffett make this movie a true classic and a thriller masterpiece. It is really fantastic watching the story of a criminal who is released from prison that goes on a crime spree with his sluttish girlfriend and takes revenge on his ex-girlfriend who put him in jail in the first place. Randall's death is amazing, as while he was enraged and about to kill everyone and leave, gets bitten by a snake and then shot by Alex who says ''Hail to the king'' as he stated he is the king of crime. I recommend this movie to everyone.

Hot Movie!
eddy-287 January 2004
Wow, the unrated version of this sexually rare thriller was odd but amazing. Wild Cactus stars David Naughton and India Allen playing a young couple stranded out in the desert when they cross paths with a vicious ex con (Gary Hudson) and his girlfriend (Kathy Shower) who have on their minds some odd sexual games. Paul Gleason was good as Sheriff Brenner, his usual mean tough performance was perfect, even though he isn't involved in any of the sex scenes which to my knowledge has some of the most hot steamy scenes I've seen since Two Moon Junction or Wild Orchid. Recommended for the fans of the adult/softcore genre.

Low Cost Film, High Cost Sexy
ithedork30 September 1999
Wow, India Allen (X-Playmate)is super hot in this film. I would say take the time to rent or buy this movie. You can see it on late night cable from time to time.

If your into sexy underwear on sexy ladies, you'll love it. Or if your into lots of T/A, you'll love it.

The story is ok for a low cost film. And the acting is not a big winner.

Kathy Shower (X-Playmate) is also in this film. Her part is not all that big. But the part she does have, she does, I think, a great job. But back to the undered sexed house wife, India Allen. She makes the movie. Even after a little sex with the bad guy.

A MUST SEE MOVIE........

Horrible!
crazy-234 January 2000
I was completely dissatisfied with this trash. It has everything a typical movie of this sort would expect to have: terrible acting, stupid lines, and lots of nudity. I wasn't even impressed with the sex scenes. I mean give me a break - sex on the hood of a car as a train is going by! And Indian Allen getting raped by a guy and afterward kissing him on the back! And who would enjoy rubbing someone's breasts after they smeared syrup on them! How pathetic can hollywood get? Do yourself and don't waste you time with this nonsense.

Dry As a Desert.
tfrizzell28 February 2003
A pure trial of a movie with D-grade actors that act like they have no business being near a movie camera. A young married couple (David Naughton and India Allen) come into contact with a crazed ex-convict (Gary Hudson) and his bi-sexual girlfriend (Kathy Shower) in a desolate desert in the deep southwest. Naturally Naughton is disposed of, or so Hudson thinks, and he has deviant plans for Allen. Of course Naughton is not dead and decides to try and save the day. Paul Gleason is boring and unwanted as usual as a local sheriff who is better at catching chicken thieves than stopping hard-core criminals. India Allen had a little bit of fame in soft-core adult films and then hit the national spotlight for a short time in the mid-1990s due to her mysterious relationship with O.J. Simpson and his late wife. Her life is more interesting than her films and "Wild Cactus" is no exception to the rule. Turkey (0 stars out of 5).
