One Foot on a Banana Peel, the Other Foot in the Grave is a heartbreaking and thought-provoking documentary giving insight into the lives of people suffering from AIDS during the early 1990s. The film takes place in a clinic treating primarily AIDS patients and focuses on the conversations between the patients there, the interactions between them, and the personal struggles that each must go through. Particularly captivating is the figure of Daniel Chapman, a homosexual actor suffering from AIDS and fearful that his children will abandon him with the knowledge that he has the disease. The film poignantly addresses the fear associated with the AIDS epidemic while humanizing the epidemic.
