Gösta Ekman as Beck, Rolf Lassgård as Gunvald, Kjell Bergqvist as Kollberg and Niklas Hjulström as Benny Skacke. The best group that have ever played Sjöwall/Wahlöö's investigators? Well, at least they are not far from it. This time they have to find a serial-killer that murders young girls in the parks of Stockholm. The director Daniel Alfredsson is a talented director and he knows how to make a thrilling movie. And this is a very good movie. I highly recommend it.

One in a series of brilliant films based on the Sjöwall and Wahlöö books.

This film is one in a series of films based on the world famous thrillers by swedish writer-couple Sjöwall and Wahlöö. The films where made in 1993-94 and are definitely my favorite filmings of the books. Gösta Ekman as the criminal investigator Martin Beck has a very low key approach to the role which makes room for the other characters and for the melancholic atmosphere. The police team and especially Rolf Lassgård and Kjell Bergqvist give tremendous credibility to their characters. This film along with "Roseanna" (1993 and also directed by Daniel Alfredson) shows what level of sophistication can be achieved in a thriller if the characters are fully developed and action scenes are kept at a minimum.

Typical swedish criminaldrama that take us on tour in stockholm city and the famous detective Beck. It is based on a true story what I heard of but lots of details are changed drasticaly. The Film tries its best to put a creative spin on a classic murder mystery concept and it does succeed in part. The ending is somewhat of a surprise, yet once the killer is revealed, what happens next is all too predictable. But I like the acting of Gösta Ekman he is know for his width so to speak and it comes clear here. A little sidestory for me personaly is that I use to live in the small town sala Where the real killer spent his last days att psycic ward.
