Violence & Gore

  • Bobby is physically abused by "The King" during some scenes.
  • A dog is hurt badly due to it being physically abused by "The King".
  • In a black-and-white film the brothers are watching on TV, a man beats another man on the head.
  • Bruises are seen on a child's back and he is shown to be in constant fear.The abuse he is suffering is very upsetting to watch.
  • A gang of boys threaten the two brothers in the woods, but are chased away by the dog.
  • A boy points his finger at another boy, pretending that it is a gun. The other boy then coincidentally falls off his bike.
  • Several scenes of arguing, and a couple of verbal threats.

Profanity

  • While singing, Mike and Bobby accidentally say the F-word.
  • The father calls Bobby a "little son-of-a-bitch".
  • Boys call each other mild rude names, not curse words, but just typical joking around.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • "The King" is seen drinking alcohol at times.
  • Cigarettes are visible in a few scenes, but no street drugs.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Mike and Bobby are approached by bullies of similar age. Sometimes fighting occurs and in once scene a kid is seen bleeding from it.
  • Bobby flying off in an unstable Radio Flyer towards the end.
  • The abuse the father inflicts is very disturbing. In one scene a cop offers to help the boys, but they are too afraid to seek help. In another scene a dog is beaten. Kids gang up on a boy and take turns kicking him. A boy is seen with bruises on his back from his father.
  • The main character has a giant buffalo for an imaginary friend. Its appearance is rather bizarre.
