- For the television version, about twenty minutes of this movie was edited in very small sections, because this movie is exactly two hours long. In order to watch the full version on television, the time slot is extended to two and a half hours.
- When Kevin visits various New York City landmarks, his visit to the World Trade Center was removed from television broadcasts after 2001, out of respect for the victims of the 9/11 attacks. As of Christmas 2018, the scene at the WTC has been restored. When shown on Freeform as of 2022, all instances of WTC including Kevin looking up at it have been removed and just cuts to the Miami airport security office.
- Canadian broadcaster CBC removed several short scenes in 2014 to make time for commercial breaks, including the Donald Trump cameo scene (enraging some Trump supporters).
- In the trailer, there is the scene where all the wrenches fall on Harry and he falls down but it's different from the actual movie. In the trailer, all the wrenches fall on Harry but he's still standing until the big wrench falls at the end causing him to fall to the ground. In the movie, all the little wrenches fall on him to which he falls to the ground and the big wrench doesn't fall on him until he's already on the ground.
- When this movie airs on YTV, it is mostly uncut except for one scene. The scene where all the scary people tease Kevin on the street at night is removed, it directly cuts to him in Central Park running where he sees the bird lady. This may confuse viewers as to why he's running because last time we saw him, he left his uncles house casually after noticing his uncle wasn't there.
- In 2021, some lines (Kevin's siblings talking about sunblock) in the German version were redubbed after Disney and Netflix were criticized for showing a childrens movie which included the n-word as well as a reference to indigenous people (the usage of these words was an invention of the writer of the original dubbing script, the English version does not use these words).
- In the French dub, the talkative tourist Kevin sits next to on the Chicago-New York flight speaks Spanish instead of French.
- On the Freeform airing, the part with Donald Trump and the nail gun is cut. And the brick throwing scene is shortened.
