A Brilliant Series for a strange child.
Localfreak11 November 2005
In 1992 I was 5-6 years old, which one would assume to be far too young to have watched these series. This is not the case. Not only was I allowed to stay up and watch it I religiously taped every single episode.I can even say that it was always shown around 9.00 (occasionaly 9.30) on the BBC and was followed by 'Waiting For God' for one series. I was heartbroken when it finished after the second series.

The plot is hilarious, of course as a child the many of the jokes ("decadant green...sordid black..ooh..pregnant pink?")went straight over my head, even if I did memorise it well enough I can still quote fluently now over a decade later. The actors are excellent, though 'David's character became less likable in the second series this did not detract from the overall charm. Peter Rokeby was undoubtedly superb and the script was witty to the extreme and wonderfully well delivered. The programme covers humour not only in darker situations, in the home, the small community but also contained some wonderfully cynical caricatures of the media industry as well as the random day to day 'luvvies' so prevalent in small society.

"Divorced last year. I got to keep the kid...which is like...a baby goat."-Tarquin (Pete's boss)

Only just discovered this series
milodeamara20 July 2020
I have only just discovered this series and got through up to episode 6 almost. Would love to see the rest of the series but I cannot find anymore.

It was a lovely little comedy about the family who has to move down due to the father losing his job and "starting his own company/writing a book".

The teenage daughter tying up the phone was quite accurate for the time.

The mom wanting to start her own business and the husband resisting, ahh...the early 90s.

Well, I would love to watch the rest and am hoping I can find the complete series.

Hi,

I have the complete set of So Haunt Me and think its still a great comedy after all these years.

A family moved in to a house which they later found out was haunted by a Jewish ghost called Yetta Fieldman.

Yetta died when she choked on a chicken bone whilst eating chicken soup! She will only leave if they find her daughter, Carole.

Only the mother can see her and the dad hears her eventually. The son thinks of her as a friend. The daughter is always on the phone and finds it annoying that everyone keeps talking about the ghost.

Its a good comedy, well worth watching!

Only 2 people??

It's not really a review I want to post as I can barely remember this programme. I was only 6 years old when I watched it with my family, and we only ever recorded one episode on to tape - it was the episode were Sally's mum (or mother-in-law - not sure which) stays for a while. And I can barely remember that.

But it's just such a shame that this show was never repeated. You can't even buy the videos/DVDs, and I would love to see it again. I also find it shocking that only two people have reviewed it. Maybe no one remembers it any more.

Anyway, I hope this is dug out and repeated on ITV at some point. It'd be a shame if the tapes were destroyed.
