Surprisingly good

The last film in the LONG ARM OF THE LAW series ends things on a high with a surprisingly deep and complex political story of student leaders being smuggled out of the Chinese mainland after the Tiananmen Square massacre. At least an hour of this one looks at the politics and the main players with Hong Kong literally caught between communist China on one side and capitalist Britain on the other. The action when it comes is vivid, exciting and downbeat with it. Elvis Tsui gets his best role in this one and the whole thing works because of what it has to say about the era.
