This film was originally titled "The Mrs." and early promotional material (including an early version of the final poster) contained this title. It became "Deceived" because the producers wanted to further separate Goldie Hawn's association with bubbly comedy and they felt "The Mrs." didn't make the theme clear enough.
One of a cycle of thrillers made during the early 1990s which were set around husband and wife characters. The films include Malice (1993), Deceived (1991), Shattered (1991), Mortal Thoughts (1991), Consenting Adults (1992), Unlawful Entry (1992), Presumed Innocent (1990), Guilty as Sin (1993), Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) and A Kiss Before Dying (1991).
Final film appearance of Oscar-winning actress Beatrice Straight as Goldie Hawn's mother. However, she only appears in the film for five seconds, seen in the background and out of focus as a guest in Adrienne's daughter's birthday party. Her scenes were presumably cut.
