Even though it won’t be seeing a theatrical release, a strong argument could be made for Cult of Chucky being one of the most anticipated horror movies to drop in 2017. Not only will it include returning favorites such as Jennifer Tilly and Alex Vincent, but it will also carry over the darker tone that director Don Mancini established in the previous film, Curse of Chucky.
As you may know by now, the sequel will debut on October 3, being made available on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand. Not only that, but according to IGN, it’ll also be coming to Netflix on that very day as well. Thus, you have one more option as to how you can get your Chucky fix.

In Cult Of Chucky, the murderous doll returns to wreak more havoc, but is the seventh film in the franchise anything to get excited about?
It might sound like a very silly thing to say, but the Child's Play franchise has always remained fairly grounded.

Despite the ludicrous central conceit - serial killer Charles Lee Ray has used a voodoo ritual to transfer his soul into a mass-marketed child’s doll; slashing ensues – Chucky hasn’t ever been to space. Y’know? We’ve never had a Chucky In The Hood. There’s no Chucky Vs Annabelle in the works (that I’m aware of). The killer doll may be utterly demented, but even during his weirder...

2000 Ad has become a British institution since its launch in 1977, bringing characters to the world including Nemesis the Warlock, Rogue Trooper, Nikolai Dante and, of course, the one-and-only Judge Dredd.
Future Shock! The Story of 2000 Ad is a documentary that takes in the highs (and lows) of the comic's history, with interviews with Pat Mills, Kevin O'Neill, Andy Diggle, Karen Berger, Dave Gibbons, Lauren Beukes, Leah Moore and many more.
Ahead of the film's premiere as part of BFI's Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder season, we spoke to director Paul Goodwin, producer Sean Hogan and executive producer Nick Harwood about the past and future of 2000 Ad, Alan Moore and taking dinner with Pat Mills:
What made you decide to tell the story of 2000 Ad?
Sean: "We were at college together. After that, we went our separate ways. We'd always spoken about doing something one day. And we were...

Science has been under attack of late and I’m not sure why. Some want to tear down the discoveries and words of caution by scientists, as if to discredit them like an urban legend. No one wants to put money into space programs anymore, and there are those who continue to bury their heads in the sand when it comes to the environment, greenhouse effect, global warming and other scientific truths. It’s not always easy to understand science but to outright deny it is a movement that is befuddling as much as it is frustrating. So what better time than to revive Cosmos, the TV show hosted by the late scientist Carl Sagan, who succeeded in breaking down the walls of science, putting the discoveries in a digestible format that would help communicate the wonders of science to non-scientists.

Have you noticed yourself fast-forwarding through Adam Levine's critiques on The Voice and waiting patiently for Christina Aguilera to speak? Have you noticed that's an absolutely insane scenario? Because I'm doing it too. And I'm scared.
Christina Aguilera has become the show's least sympathetic and/or sentimental panelist. She's thoroughly genuine, and even if she doesn't reach the caliber of my favorite 10 reality judges, she's exactly what The Voice needs: unflinching truth-telling. I hope she keeps it up in the weeks to come. Not just because it's entertaining (How about when she smacked Down her former Mousketeer buddy Tony Lucca?), but because it heightens the show's stakes. Fear this dirrty, caterwauling diva, contestants.
The Voice's second week of live rounds proved to be a mixed bag ranging from towering renditions of rock classics to meek attempts at dated pop songs. Let's invade and grade 'em all.

Some directors burst out of the gate with fully formed visions and debuts that set Sundance aflame. Others take longer to firm up their perspectives and filmmaking identity. (And, of course, many, many others don't get going at all.) "Your Early Work" is an occasional feature in which we'll take a look at an established auteur's first movie and how it fits in with or foreshadows the ones he or she made down the line.
First up, Todd Solondz, whose new film "Life During Wartime" opened on Friday.
"Fear, Anxiety & Depression" (1989)
Directed by Todd Solondz
These days, it's almost inconceivable to picture Todd Solondz, the premiere '90s maestro of deadpan misery, putting himself front and center on screen. For Solondz to subject himself to the same unflinching (if non-judgmental) gaze he's centered on countless characters, not to mention the humiliations, awkwardness and despair which make up their day-to-day, would...

Tina Mabry's "Mississippi Damned," an independent American production, won the Gold Hugo as the best film in the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival, and added Gold Plaques for best supporting actress (Jossie Thacker) and best screenplay (Mabry). It tells the harrowing story of three black children growing up in rural Mississippi in circumstances of violence and addiction. The film's trailer and an interview with Mabry are linked at the bottom.
Kylee Russell in "Mississippi Damned"
The win came over a crowed field of competitors from all over the world, many of them with much larger budgets. The other big winner at the Pump Room of the Ambassador East awards ceremony Saturday evening was by veteran master Marco Bellocchio of Italy, who won the Silver Hugo as best director for "Vincere," the story of Mussolini's younger brother. Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Filippo Timi won Silver Hugos as best actress and actor,...
