Given that the character is known for his wild rages and tendency to yell the phrase "Hulk smash!," it's curious that Kenneth Johnson's 1970s TV series "The Incredible Hulk" should be as melancholy as it is. Series protagonist David Banner (Bill Bixby) is depicted as a lonely, tragic figure, hating the fact that he, when enraged, turns into a green monster (played by superstar bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno). Indeed, in the TV show -- unlike the original Marvel comic books -- Dr. Banner first started experimenting with strength-giving radiation after he witnessed his wife die in a car crash. He had heard the stories of certain people summoning great strength in emergencies, and wanted to give himself that strength permanently, using it to fight off the trauma and sadness he always carried around.
Then, once he managed to accidentally give himself Hulk strength, it immediately divided Dr. Banner from the rest of society.

Supposedly based on Edgar Allan Poe’s The Thousand and Second Tale of Scheherazade (it’s not), Sinbad of the Seven Seas is yet another Italian fantasy film starring Lou Ferrigno. This time Luigi Cozzi, director of the two Hercules movies, take writing duties on a film directed by Enzo G. Castellari – the same Enzo G. Castellari who made the original Inglorious Bastards and the fan-favourite Bronx Trilogy (1990: The Bronx Warriors, The New Barbarians, Escape from the Bronx).
Apparently, if the rumours are true, Castellari’s take on Sinbad was so unwatchable that Luigi Cozzi had to film reshoots and re-edit the film into the haphazard mess it is today,...

Variety has reported that actor Will Yun Lee has joined the cast of James Manigold’s The Wolverine, starring opposite Hugh Jackman, which is due to begin production next month in Australia. According to new reports, it appears that Yun Lee will be playing a villain by the name of Harada in the sequel, although precise details about his role are still being kept tightly under wraps.
One fairly significant clue that we can take away from the casting announcement is his character name; Harada is the name of the classic Marvel Comics villain Silver Samurai.
In the comic books, Harada is a Japanese mutant and foe of Wolverine who is prominently featured in the storyline in which Wolverine travels to Japan. This very same storyline is reportedly the one on which the upcoming sequel is based. Not only does the Silver Samurai server as the main villain in the comics,...

The Wolverine cast has been announced today by Superherohype. The long awaited film has gained its first cast members to star opposite Hugh Jackman. Unfortunately, we do not have any new information on the plot of the film, but we do know that this is the first round of casting news, and that more will be announced soon.
The cast will include a mix of newcomers and veteran actors. Hiroyuki Sanada (Lost, Rush Hour 3, The Last Samurai) will play Shingen; veteran actor Hal Yamanouchi (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Push, Sinbad of the Seven Seas) plays Yashida; and new discoveries Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima will star as Mariko and Yukio, respectively. Since the film will be based in Japan, Fox is moving forward with casting Japanese actors. I love this fact, because I feel it will add authenticity to the film. This is much better than many...

It seems casting has begun on Fox's next Wolverine movie, and according to Shh the following actors will be joining Hugh Jackman in some key roles.. Hiroyuki Sanada ("Lost," Rush Hour 3, The Last Samurai) is set to play Shingen; veteran actor Hal Yamanouchi (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Push, Sinbad of the Seven Seas) plays Yashida; and new discoveries Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima will star as Mariko and Yukio, respectively. You will notice that the character played by Hal Yamanouchi is listed as "Yashida", but fans of Chris Claremont & Frank Miller's "Japan Saga", on which this movie is based, will know that is the family name of several characters that cross paths with Wolverine throughout the course of the story, Shingen and his daughter Mariko (Logan's love interest) included. So this is either a mistake or they have created a new character - possibly Shingen's father...

Sources inside The Wolverine camp tell ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype that casting is starting to come together opposite Hugh Jackman in the 2013 summer tentpole movie. And we're psyched to hear that Fox is casting real Japanese actors in some of the key roles in the story based in Japan. The studio would not discuss details of these roles and continues to keep the plot under wraps, but it did confirm the following actors were cast and that more roles are expected to be filled shortly: Hiroyuki Sanada ("Lost," Rush Hour 3 , The Last Samurai ) is set to play Shingen; veteran actor Hal Yamanouchi ( The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou , Push , Sinbad of the Seven Seas ) plays Yashida; and new discoveries Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima will star as Mariko and Yukio,...
