In an unprecedented move, Netflix has struck a multi-year creative partnership with Colombian writer/director team Camilo Prince and Pablo González, best known for their lauded 2020 thriller drama series “The Great Heist” and their 2019 anthology series, “Crime Diaries: Night Out,” both for Netflix.
This is the first creative pact Netflix has made with Colombian talent. Similar partnerships have been made with Venezuela’s Roberto Stopello and Leonardo Padrón as well as Mexico’s Manolo Caro, Carolina Rivera and Chilean writer José Ignacio “Chascas” Valenzuela, creator, showrunner of the hit Netflix series “Who Killed Sara?”
The new alliance coincides with the April 10 Netflix debut of the duo’s latest series, “The Hijacking of Flight 601” (“Secuestrar al Vuelo”), inspired by the longest skyjacking in Latin American history, which happened on May 30, 1973.

Wednesday’s episode of Survivor was one for the record books for a multitude of reasons. Most importantly: Yanu didn’t go to Tribal Council!
Yes, I’ve hopped over about 40 minutes of footage here — and no offense to Q, Kenzie or Tiffany — but I’m tired of seeing their faces sitting in those Tribal Council stumps! Let someone else spend some quality time with Jeff already! Rude.

There are few people on planet Earth who can rap as fast as J Noa — and even fewer who actually have something to say. On her 2023 debut EP, Autodidactica, the 18-year-old Mc from the 5 de Abril barrio in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, showcased one of the most nimble flows in rap of any language, along with a penchant for strings-laden throwback beats and a modern perspective. Beyond merely precocious, her voice carries the weight of one who’s seen some things and lived to tell about them.

We were introduced to New Jersey resident Arianna Santos in the “Auditions: Day Two” episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.” “My mother was a dancer when she was younger, and she actually started teaching me salsa. That’s how I got into Latin ballroom,” Santos explained. She also has an older sister who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and “having her push in her life has helped me push in my life.” Was she able to come through with a worthy performance and advance to the next round of the competition? No … then yes.

Black. It is the color that absorbs all colors, the shade that holds the sun's warmth as it moves east to west. It is the color of a people, not just African but Caribbean, Middle Eastern, American, and more. But it is also music: the color at the center of the trumpet's brass ring, the shadow that fills the club when the lights get low and the party begins. Over the decades, Latin music has built a reputation for being wildly popular, no doubt in part due to its danceable nature. But what often gets lost in the conversation is the contribution that Black Latines had in cultivating the sound that, today, many of us regard as uniquely "Latin."

Season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars” is only a couple of weeks old, but we already got our first surprise elimination. On “Latin Night,” actress Jamie Lynn Spears was sent home despite decent judges scores. Only two of the users who participated in our predictions contest anticipated that result. Not many people agreed with it either. Only 14.37% of fans who responded in our poll thought Spears deserved to be eliminated, which means 85.63% thought she should have remained in the competition. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
Spears performed a cha cha on “Latin Night” and scored a six from judge Carrie Ann Inaba plus fives from Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli. That gave her a total of 16 out of 30, which was one point higher than she received on “Premiere Night” and placed her ninth out of 13 remaining contestants. This article contains spoilers for the Oct. 3 episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
Latin Night saw a lot of missteps on “Dancing With the Stars,” but also some very sexy Sambas, Salsas and Rumbas. Actress Xochitl Gomez and singer Jason Mraz tied at the top of the leaderboard with 24 points each.
Marvel star Xochitl joked that with a name like hers, people would expect she was “born knowing how to Salsa,” but that it wasn’t true. “Salsa is your superpower,” said judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who compared her to Egot singer, actress and dancer Rita Moreno. Derek Gough gushed, “Your spins are out of control,” calling her performance “exceptional,” while Bruno Tonioli proclaimed it “superb.”
Singer Jason Mraz, a surprise breakout dance star in Week 1, had the last dance of the evening, a romantic Rumba with Daniella Karagach. Derek raved, “You nailed it.”

Just when you thought the pandemic had stopped kicking at the shins of Dancing with the Stars, then comes news that — argh! — it’s not over yet. Poor Artem Chigvintsev has Covid! Now his Bachelorette partner Charity Lawson has to dance with Ezra Sosa, a lucky member of the background troupe who now gets his 15 minutes under the mirror ball. It shouldn’t hurt Lawson’s standing; she was the only quasi-ringer to emerge from the premiere night performances.
Notice how I said quasi. That’s right, DWTS watchers: unlike previous seasons, this batch of hoofers didn’t come armed with a decade of dance lessons or a previous life as a TikTok dance star. This season is chock full of straight-up amateurs, people! Finally, some perfectly passable dancing that makes us all warm and fuzzy about the golden days of DWTS.
Enough with the reminiscing. Bring on Latin night!

The Billboard Latin Music Awards are almost upon us. And with it, the Latin music industry is kicking into overdrive as the who's who of genres like reggaetón, salsa, música Mexicana y mas battle for chart supremacy over the next few weeks. In the new Stan show C*A*U*G*H*T you can expect an overflow of absurdity and irreverence that is presented through a satirical comedy. C*A*U*G*H*T, a six-part series, is all about four Australian soldiers getting captured by a freedom fighter cum terrorist organization. Sometimes political satire and mockery of the media turns out to be really hilarious, but sometimes it just doesn’t work at all. However, some famous faces like Sean Penn, who is also the producer of the series, and Sandra Sarandon can catch your attention, luring you to invest your time on the show, but it’s sad that this bizarre comedy show is a complete waste of Penn and Sarandon.
The deeper we get into the plotline of C*A*U*G*H*T, the more we start scratching our heads, questioning what is really going on. The...

For the love of jive, look what’s back on ABC!
For a minute, it didn’t look as if the mirror ball would return home on time. The ongoing strike and the preponderance of picketers had the network flirting with the possibility of postponing tonight’s season 32 premiere of Dancing with the Stars. But a deal was finally hammered out on Sunday and earlier this evening, the WGA declared the strike would officially end at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. What better way to celebrate than watching a bunch of celebs break out in dance?
But before the competition can begin, the cast paid tribute to the late Len Goodman — who now has a Mirror Ball trophy named after him! Goodman, DWTS‘ former head judge, died in April at 78.
Take it away, Alfonso Ribeiro!

“Dancing with the Stars” is back on ABC and some things just stay the same: if a celebrity has a song or is associated with a song, they will likely perform to it for their first dance.
ABC has unveiled the 14 dance styles and songs for Tuesday’s Season 32 premiere, and would you be shocked to learn that Jason Mraz is dancing the cha-cha to one of his own songs? And that the song is “I Feel Like Dancing”? Similarly, Barry Williams will perform a foxtrot to “It’s a Sunshine Day” by The Brady Bunch. Gotta get these outta the way. Mraz is one of six stars who will make their “Dancing” debut with the cha-cha. Williams, however, is the only one doing the foxtrot. Four couples have the tango, Two have the salsa and one has the jive.
See the full list below.

No one was more surprised than Marc Anthony when David Beckham showed up at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony. On Thursday, the 54-year-old singer was shocked when Beckham, his pal of more than two decades, arrived to give a speech in his honour.
“I’m going to kick his a** now, because he kept it from me. He just wrote me a text about 15 minutes ago saying, ‘Hey, congratulations. Sorry I can’t be there,'” Anthony told Et’s Cassie Dilaura after Beckham’s epic surprise. “I’m gonna kick his a**.”
Beckham was aware of Anthony’s feelings, telling Et that his friend passed along the same message when they were up on stage together.
“I mean, it’s really hard to keep anything from Marc, but it was kept a secret,” Beckham said. “I think he was happy. I think he was surprised. It went well.

Rising reggaetón star Rmand is used to doing everything on his own. Back in the Dominican Republic, he’d write his songs alone, record by himself, and book shows independently. But now, Rmand (pronounced awr-mand) has an army, led by Tainy and Lex Borrero’s NEON16 label, “looking to elevate” everything he does.
In 2021, he released the track “Diskreto,” which went viral on TikTok. Rmand’s career quickly launched to high gear after he competed on Netflix’s La Firma earlier this year. The show, judged by Nicki Nicole and Rauw Alejandro,...

La Lupe was electric onstage. The Cuban singer, known for her belting power and undeniable charisma, began showing off her skills at a young age, winning local radio competitions and dazzling audiences at clubs on the island. When she moved to New York City after the Cuban Revolution, she kept winning people over with her masterful presence — even catching the eye of salsa legend Tito Puente, who was a collaborator and lifelong fan until her death in 1992.

Álvaro Díaz has a secret ingredient that makes his musical recipe superb. The Puerto Rican artist, known by family and fans as Alvarito, is simply being himself. As fans anticipate the release of his sophomore album, "Sayonara," Díaz confirms the sound may be different from his first album, but his authenticity will always be his main sabor.

They often say that changes come in waves. Puerto Rico has an interesting relationship with change, from our colonial status remaining mostly unchanged since 1917 to new condos popping up throughout San Juan. And yet, our music is always changing, with new sounds not so much evolving from previous genres but bursting out of the collective ether to not only create change but give it a voice. From bomba y plena to the salsa of the '70s to reggaetón, the island's musical history has been defined by innovation. And with his debut EP, Puerto Rican artist Pink Pablo is set to become the face of a new musical tradition - one that breaks from the conventions of everything that came before.
"The way that I do music, I don't even think of the genre that I'm making. I just flow."

Last summer, as Bad Bunny wrapped his "Un Verano Sin Ti" concerts with back-to-back shows in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the Coliseo, he brought out several special guests - including fellow Puerto Rican artists Tommy Torres, Villano Antillano, and Young Miko. And on the third and final night of the tour, he shared the stage with RaiNao (whose real name is Naomi Ramírez). It was a full-circle moment for the rising indie artist because it came only weeks after Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio) shared that he had been listening to RaiNao's song "Luv" all summer long. While performing alongside the No. 1 artist in the world was a significant moment in RaiNao's musical career - one she shares she will always be grateful for - the proudly queer singer and songwriter was already making a name for herself in Puerto Rico's alt-perreo scene following her debut EP,...

This month, we sit down with Puerto Rican alternative indie artist Melissa Ocasio.
Since the pandemic, Puerto Rico's indie music scene has exploded. It's as if the island births new talent by the hour - and it can seem almost impossible to keep up. One of the artists who emerged during this renaissance is Melissa Ocasio. The Boricua artist has been making a name for herself as an alternative indie meets electro-Caribbean artist, ever since she released her first official single "Agárrate," a call-to-action song about the femicides happening in Puerto Rico.
On March 6, 2020, Ocasio released "Agárrate" to the world. But the song was actually two years in the making.

"The Flash"'s premiere was a family affair for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The actor brought daughters Filippa, 22, and Safina, 19, to celebrate the superhero film's debut in Los Angeles on June 12, marking a rare appearance for the trio. They posed together on the red carpet wearing casual-chic outfits - Nikolaj layered a chartreuse top under a gray plaid suit, Safina paired a beige jacket with gray pants, and Filippa wore a black long-sleeved dress with brown cowboy boots. Other stars in attendance included Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, and Jessica Chastain.
Nikolaj shares Filippa and Safina with his wife, Nukâka Coster-Waldau, whom he married in 1998. Both Filippa and Safina are following in their father's footsteps as actors, portraying sisters in the Danish teen drama "Salsa," among other roles. Though Nikolaj tends to keep his family life pretty private, he's made a few public appearances with his daughters through the years.

The Latin pop charts have always given us a somewhat skewed portrait of Juanes. Hits like the compulsively hummable 2004 song “La Camisa Negra” established the Colombian singer/songwriter as a multi-platinum-selling global icon. In doing so, many listeners and radio programmers focused on the bubbly, slick, frivolous aspect of his craft. But there’s another, more interesting side to Juanes. There’s darkness and depth – the layered musical language of a studious guitar player who may surprise you in concert with a legit reggae riff, or channel the visceral grooves...

Immediately after the podcast La Brega launched in February of 2021, it was met with rave reviews from listeners and critics alike. The first season of the show — co-produced by Futuro Studios and Wnyc — focused on historical and sociopolitical events that have shaped Puerto Rico over the past few decades. The storytelling struck a chord both with locals living on the archipelago and Puerto Ricans in the diaspora — and the program also drew in non-Puerto Ricans, who have been enthralled by the meticulous reporting showcased in each episode.

Dave “Lil Dicky” Burd’s Dave is back with season 3. Naturally, many viewers are curious about the cast of the Fxx/Hulu series and where they might have seen the actors before. Find out what shows and movies Andrew Santino, Taylor Misiak, Christine Ko, Travis “Taco” Bennett, and GaTa have been in before, plus who the richest is out of the Dave cast.
Dave ‘Lil Dicky’ Burd and GaTa in season 3 of ‘Dave’ | Byron Cohen/FX Lil Dicky is the wealthiest ‘Dave’ cast member
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Lil Dicky is worth an estimated $8 million in 2023. The rapper hasn’t released new music in some time, which means he hasn’t gone on tour and earned money from that revenue stream. Instead, he has been focused on writing new music and his Fxx series.
Burd’s co-star Santino, who plays his manager in the comedy series, ranks second when it comes to net worth.
