Tense, dramatic fashion in this HK drama.

This is an intense HK A about young woman, Kelly Ho (Pat Ha), who during her wedding gets her special day ruined by the mafia because her husband-to-be's connections with them. Getting got up in the violence that ensued, Kelly is arrested and imprisoned in a women's facility. What results is some tense drama and gripping action that lets us see the difficult lives of the women inmates inside the prison, and then endangerment in the surrounding environment.

Powerful acting, if a little overboard at times. There's a fast-paced plot and edge-of-your-seat excitement.

A Lifetime Movie in Cantonese
TheExpatriate70014 October 2012
Women Prison is basically a Lifetime movie women in prison movie in Chinese, with slightly more graphic violence. The plot follows Kelly Hu, a young woman who gets sent to prison after nearly killing one of the loan sharks who crashes her wedding. She soon gets caught up in a power struggle between brutal "big sister" Fatty and sardonic upstart Lynn.

Although the film's cover features a salacious photo of a strip search, the film actually avoids the more exploitative elements of the genre, perhaps to its detriment. Other than a few beatings, there is nothing to distinguish this from a TV movie of the week. To add insult to injury, the subtitling is substandard, with numerous grammatical errors and misspellings.
