Glitz is a rather hard-to-find, but low-key made-for-TV thriller, and a nice surprise. Despite speedy introduction of events, the story flows without much hallaboo of action. Easy-going Jimmy Smits plays a surprisingly more orthodox cop (than is typical of these movies) investigating a young woman's death following a plunge from a balcony window, an investigation which leads him to an old nemesis (John Deihl as a sadistic creep), among others in Cuba and Atlantic City's criminal underground. In the end, it becomes a test of who is going to get to other first. Well worth a try if your in the mood for a fluid cop drama.

This is an interesting above average made-for-TV crime drama about a Miami cop(Jimmy Smits)who lets his career and life get entangled with homicide, mobsters, a singer(Markie Post)and a sleazy ex-con(John Diehl). This should broaden Smits' fan base and for Post, she needs no help in using the best of her talents. Also appearing are Madison Mason and Robin Strasser.

Once again another movie ruined by focusing on a love story
it started off slow got really good then got boring towards the end
this was an intruiging movie with a few sub plots intertwined, great acting by everyone involved and a decent soundtrack, some great hotels and casinos and lots of beautiful women
i would have rated it a 9 if it didnt focus so much on the romantic aspect.

Watchable TV crime drama takes L. A. Law's Jimmy Smits from the streets of Miami to San Juan Puerto Rico to Atlantic City where he's out to expose a criminal syndicate responsible for several murders and ends up in over his head. Along the way there's beautiful hostess Tasia Valenza, wealthy Robin Strasser and singer Markie Post, all attracted to those dimples and surface gentle demeanor, hiding a determined cop who'll break rules to get the job done.
Then there's John Diehl as the bad guy, killing the friendly Puerto Rican cab driver in the jungle whom he suspects was a rat, and out for revenge against Smits. He's a mama's boy, and oh what a mama he has, the irrepressible Kathleen Freeman who when confronted by the cops doesn't go off on them like she did with the same year's "Dragnet". In fact, she gets to be quite gentle (at least on the surface), with a gorgeous white cockatoo who hates junior. Smits has such charm that he's irresistible, and Strasser is having a great time as the horny hotel magnate. Post gets to sing a couple of classic standards. This may be nothing new, but there's some fun stuff along the way.
