Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has completed a “wondrous” 55 years in the world of Hindi cinema and to celebrate it he has given himself an AI spin. It was in 1969, when the cine icon stepped into the world of showbiz with ‘Saat Hindustani’ and since then he has captivated the audience with his impeccable performances on screen.
Amitabh took to X (formerly Twitter), where he dropped two AI images of himself.
The first picture has a camera lens in place of his spectacle lens. The second photo has a colourful camera reel like streamers with faces and eyes made on it.
“T 4924 – 55 years in the wondrous world of Cinema… and AI, gives me its interpretation… a presentation by Ef B… self made,” Big B wrote on Twitter.
Even though he started his acting career with ‘Saat Hindustani, Big B had first began his journey as a voice narrator in ‘Bhuvan Shome’ starring...

Notorious for terrorising at least two generations of top heroes – in reel life – with just his trademark glare, steely voice, and facial expressions ranging from ferocious to sneering, he especially stood out for his film relations with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whom he once bested onscreen with two words.
In one standard of the lost-and-found potboiler genre, Amitabh, with his role’s habitual insouciance, asks a stern-looking, impeccably-dressed character: “Aap kaun hai mai-baap?”. Pat came the terse reply: “Tumhara baap”.
This was “Amar Akbar Anthony” (1977) – one of the 11 that Pran, born on this day (February 12) in 1920 – did with the Big B, playing with his father two times more or a reluctant ally. Of these, at least 9 are intrinsic to the Bachchan legend, including “Zanjeer” (1973), “Don” (1978), “Naseeb” (1981), “Kaalia” (1981), “Sharaabi” (1984), and “Shahenshah” (1988)

I noticed something curious. Director Siddharth Anand of the film ‘Fighter’ says that his film flopped because 90% of Indian moviegoers have never sat in an airplane! I was amazed, amused, but, most of all, I was worried. Worried, because this is how the maker of a Rs 400-crore film thinks!
My mind instantly went back to Shakti Samanta’s ‘An Evening In Paris’ (1967), where a bikini-clad Sharmila Tagore is sea skiing as Shammi Kapoor courts her hanging from a helicopter. After learning what Malhotra had said to explain why his film had failed, I wondered how many people hang from a helicopter to court a woman! I don’t know anybody who has done such a thing and still, ‘An Evening In Paris’ was a major hit! I can cite hundreds of such examples.
Of course, the audience must first identify with the subject of a film. The other factor...

Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas was in an expansive mood while delivering a masterclass at the recently concluded International Film Festival of India (Iffi), Goa, where he also accepted a lifetime achievement award.
Douglas was in conversation with producer Shailendra Singh, with whom he explored a sequel to “Romancing the Stone” called “Chasing the Monsoon” 17 years ago. The pair are now looking at another film. “We have a project that we are working on, it’s an outline now. We need to talk a little bit more about the characterizations and storylines, but I hope so, I would be really excited,” Douglas said.
The two-time Oscar winner’s comfort level with Singh, who was instrumental in bringing him to India this year, with the seeds sown at the Cannes India pavilion earlier this year, was evident. Douglas was candid about the emotional struggle he went through while his son Cameron battled drug addiction.

It has happened so often that key themes, plots or storylines of a successful movie has been suitably incorporated in subsequent movies to mirror the box office performance of the first one. What is even more intriguing is the repeat success of the above method on many occasions attaining the status of a formula at times.
Back in the 70s, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s “angry young man” image in the initial days was started by the super-hit run of Zanjeer (1973) which ran all the way till vigilante film Shahenshah in 1988. The action blended with drama in movies in the 1970s had ‘deteriorated’ to violence in late 1980s thus keeping the family audience away from theaters at the height of home video and film piracy. This is evident from the box office results of that era which had peaked at 15 crores (Sholay) in 1975 itself but remained stagnant for the coming two...

The year 2017 started off with the big Box Office clash between Bollywood's two big ticket movies, Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil. These two movies battled their way to victory at the Box Office. However, the business of both the films was affected due to divided screen counts which had a 60-40 percent ratio. And now, the Shahenshah of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan with his Sarkar 3 is all set to lock horns with Bollywood's heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's Jagga Jasoos at the box office. After facing a lot of hurdles during the making of the film, Anurag Basu's musical adventure drama - Jagga Jasoos, which was announced in the year 2014, had finally got its release date on April 7, 2017. But it looks like the film has become trouble's favourite child as Ram Gopal Varma's political crime thriller Sarkar 3, which was initially...

Deepak Rauniyar’s Highway, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival 2012, was recently screened at the Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival. Credited with making the first Nepali film to travel to one of the top festivals in the world, Berlinale, Deepak Rauniyar tells us more about Highway:
What was the starting point for the film?
In 2009, I happened to be on a road trip from east Nepal to the capital, Kathmandu. Our journey was obstructed by three different ‘bandhs’, organized by three different groups in three different parts of the country. This was when my colleagues Kedar Sharma, Khagendra Lamichhane and I started talking about the idea for this film, Highway. I felt that by setting a story against the backdrop of this new ‘bandh’ culture, I would not only be able to explore physical ‘bandhs’, but also explore the mental/psychological ‘bandhs’ that many of us seem to be facing these days.

Action movies are back in style and every actor worth a punch at the box office is getting back into to action in a big way. Ghajini in 2008 was the first action masala movie with a big star after a long time and took audiences by storm. Then followed Salman Khan’s Wanted in 2009, his Dabangg in 2010, Ajay Devgan’s Singham in 2011 and Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath earlier this year. Each film smashed records at the box office, crossing the 100 crore mark and bringing back the single screen nostalgia for action films – the grand hero entry, bravado performances and gripping tales. They also generated interest within the multiplex audiences, who were used to watching family dramas and glitzy romantic films set abroad.
