The end has come, but Earth still has real problems
michaelRokeefe7 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This Italian-American sci-fi/action film is better than you may have thought. Yes, a very low budget MAD MAX rip off; but there is a likability that takes hold. Mutants pose a problem in a post-holocaust world. The Interzone is the last fertile region left on Earth, and a supernatural gifted monk, Panasonic (Kim Wehara) , is sent to search for help against an invading gang of wasteland raiders led by a mutant female bodybuilder named Mantis (Teagan Clive). A snake bitten Panasonic is rescued by a rouge road warrior called Swan (Bruce Abbott). Fighters are collected and a battle for mankind is eminent.

Takes Mad Max to the Max!
zpluscinema19 November 2002
Whoa, I definitely concur with the other review. This is far and away the best rip-off of Mad Max, and a cool movie in it's own right. Bruce Abbott (Re-Animator, doy) plays the likable hero, and unlike the good guy in Italian Road Warrior clones, he's not a grizzled middle-aged man who seems to need glasses. No, it's Bruce's inherent likability that plays a big part in this movie's appeal. Sure, sure, there's the good writing and direction, and the heroine's pretty cool too, but Brucey really steals the show. So in a nuked-out future, a mysterious treasure guarded by monks must be protected from wayward warlords. Basically, that's it, but there's a lot of cool little inventive things that give the proceedings an extra kick and punch. I've only come across this flick once, and I'm thankful I bought it. It's pretty neat.

My head hurts
aranormer11 October 2018
Like it says above, my head hurts. I'm home alone with the mother of all flu's crawling up and down my spine and sinuses. Sitting up really hurts. I can't see very good without my glasses on, and the bridge of my nose is too sore to carry the weight of them. I'm also bored out of my skull and playing a game of discoveries.

Game of discoveries, what might that be? Basically I'm surfing around at YouTube. Good music, odd documentaries, lots of sci-fi short movies, and occasional "real" movies. Just to pass time. Take my mind off from the fact that it has been almost a week since I moved from this chair anywhere ecept to the bathroom.

I like this kind of movies. Mad Max (1979?) is one of my all time favorites, so I decided to give this a go when I stumbled upon this when browsing YouTube. Hour and a half later I can only wonder what makes anybody to make this kind of waste of time, money and celluloid.

Script felt and sounded amateurish, as if the writers were making it up as they were filming the movie.

Actors weren't really acting, they were reading their lines, too embarrassed over shabby script to even pretend to be acting.

Sound was atrocious. Music was grating my ears and didn't really fit in. As a result every line of the lame script the actors tried to utter was buried under piano and guitar melodies.

Coreography was straight out of the tai-chi class my ninety-year old grandma takes every sunday. I kept waiting the actors to fall asleep during "action" sequences.

But finally we're getting to the one aspect that made me present one star. Camerawork. This was apparently too old of a movie to have shakycam implemented. It was nice to see what was happening on-screen. Then again, little shake and jiggle could have hidden the fact that any of the actors weren't really action stars, and the guy who designed the fight sequences was probably drunk. Or three years old. Or both.

More entertaining than you would imagine!
Corno-215 December 1999
True. This film is a typical 80's Mad Max rip off, however, this one lies in a very fine field. Interzone succeeds where so many other fail. The film is terribly low-budget but the is a great deal of ingenuity with the special effects and action sequences. Bruce Abbott is fantastic in the lead. He plays the role in a very jokey 'I know this is a dud film, so what!' and this adds a lot to the character of Swan. All in all that is a highly entertaining film and will please lovers of the genre (who should watch it with a clear mind) to no end!
