The song "Rock'y VI" was first released as a (shortened) 12-inch single in 1986 (it came after the short film, labeled as "soundtrack"). While the song basically introduced the Finnish band Leningrad Cowboys, the single was released under the name Sleepy Sleepers. The English lyrics and vocals were provided by Nicky Tesco.
The film premiered on Finnish television in May 16, 1986 on a magazine program Kamoon - kielet poikki (1985) at Yle TV1 channel.
Producer Atte Blom (at the time in Megamania) called the film a "rock video", but director Aki Kaurismäki considers it a "short film".
