- Kitty Wilcox: As you get older you'll see, boys are like busses. If you miss one, another one will be along before you know it.
- Major Wilcox: The attraction between male and female is natural and necessary for the continuation of the species. The female - excites the male. Then, once it's excited, the male is overcome by, eh, uncontrollable urges.
- Sandy Wilcox: [doubtful] Uncontrollable urges?
- Major Wilcox: Oh, yes. Its rather difficult to explain. You can see it when a bull noses a cow... That bull will break through fence, barn door, walls and anything that stands between him and that cow.
- Sandy Wilcox: You mean you were like that with Mom?
- Major Wilcox: No. Of course. Well, not exactly.
- Sandy Wilcox: It sounds complicated, Dad.
- Major Wilcox: I wish you two would stop fighting.
- Sandy Wilcox: She picks on me.
- Major Wilcox: Well, your mother grew up in a quiet house and she always thought she was going to be a Librarian.
- Kitty Wilcox: You are the most selfish, self-centered...
- Sandy Wilcox: I know, I know. Selfish, self-centered, silly, sloppy, cheap, let's not forget that old favorite inconsiderate. Let me see, did I forget any?
- Kitty Wilcox: That's it. That is really it! If you can't say anything nice
- Sandy Wilcox, Kitty Wilcox: Don't say anything at all!
- Butch Walker: Are you retarded? Girls don't run away from home. Not unless they're tramps or something. It's too tough for a girl.
- Sandy Wilcox: Girls never get to do - anything.
- Butch Walker: You are some crazy chick, you know that?
- Major Wilcox: So, how old did you say you were?
- Sandy Wilcox: I never said.
- Major Wilcox: Chicks. You're 14, right?
- Sandy Wilcox: No. I'm 12.
- Major Wilcox: Oh man, I'm talkin' to some *kid*.
- Butch Walker: You got any girlfriends, preferably older than you?
- Sandy Wilcox: Yeah, sort of. Thelma's just about 14.
- Butch Walker: Thelma? What sort of name's that?
- Sandy Wilcox: Well, her family's Catholic.
- Butch Walker: Oh, brother.
- Butch Walker: Hey, Lizzie, how old are you?
- Lizzie: Thirteen.
- Butch Walker: The same age as Jerry Lee Lewis' wife. He married his cousin, you know.
- Lizzie: Yeah, we read it in the papers.
- Butch Walker: Man, that guy is the *killer* rock-n-roller! Hey, Sandy, that'd be like you and me gettin' married.
- Sandy Wilcox: Fat chance.
- Sandy Wilcox: They only play rock-n-roll on Saturday afternoons.
- Major Wilcox: You're kidding. In the States we got rock-n-roll all day long.
- Sandy Wilcox: Wow, that'd be the most.
- Butch Walker: Look, I can't be seen with you girls in my Cadillac.
- Sandy Wilcox: Why not?
- Butch Walker: I don't want to hurt your feelings; but, you're all ugly.
- Sandy Wilcox: Do you like livin' in the States?
- Butch Walker: Are you kiddin'? Of course I like it. Anything you want, we got it in the USA.
- Sandy Wilcox: So, what are you doin' here in Canada?
- Butch Walker: Sandy, aren't you going to introduce us?
- Rosie Hardman: Where's Lenny and Mucker?
- Butch Walker: Still pickin'. Sandy?
- Sandy Wilcox: [rolls her eyes] Shirley, this is my American cousin, Butch. And that's Rosie Hardman. I'm going to go jump in the lake.
- Sandy Wilcox: Good idea.
- Sandy Wilcox: Shirley taught me how to jive.
- Lenny McPhee: You can jive?
- Sandy Wilcox: I like to jive.
- Lenny McPhee: Well, let's go!
- Butch Walker: You mean, you and Lenny never?
- Shirley Darling: We're saving it until we get married.
- Butch Walker: Is that all anybody ever thinks about? Gettin' married! Doesn't anybody just want to have fun anymore?
- Butch Walker: I don't want you bugging me tonight, okay? If I see somebody I want to dance with, I want you to get lost. And don't look for me if you want a ride home. If I want to hang around, that's my business.
- Butch Walker: Listen, that girl means nothing to me.
- Shirley Darling: Well then, why were you kissing her?
- Butch Walker: I was tryin' to be polite.
- Shirley Darling: Do me a favor, if you see Lennie, don't tell him you saw me, okay?
- Sandy Wilcox: Why not?
- Shirley Darling: Please! I'll give you some Little Richard records if you shut up.
- Lizzie: I sure hope I don't have to see Butch again. I'm *so* embarrassed; because, I don't think I kissed him right.
- Butch Walker: Hey, wait a minute. Where I come from, you don't talk to chicks like that.
- Lenny McPhee: Yeah? Is that so? Why don't you go back to wherever it is you came from, you no-good, lazy bum.
- Lenny McPhee: I used to think you were okay. But, you're just some tough punk in a fancy car tryin' to pick up chicks!
- Major Wilcox: What the hell are you trying to prove?
- Butch Walker: I was just...
- Major Wilcox: Just coming up here and getting into fights.
- Butch Walker: I wasn't lookin' for trouble. I just wanted to have a good time.
- Major Wilcox: A good time! What about decency? Responsibility?
- Butch Walker: I don't know.
- Major Wilcox: Of course, you don't know!
- Butch Walker: Did you ever see the movie, "Rebel Without A Cause"?
- Shirley Darling: No. It hasn't come to town yet.
- Butch Walker: [takes off his blue jean jacket and puts it over Shirley's shoulders] I tell you what, if you ever make it down to California, I'll take you to the movies.
- [kiss]
- Sandy Wilcox: Do you ever wonder about the stars?
- Butch Walker: Yeah, as often as I can.
- Sandy Wilcox: Well, do you think heaven is inside the universe or just outside the universe?
- Butch Walker: Well, myself, I don't think it's anywhere. No one can prove to me there is a heaven. As far as I can figure it out, when you're dead, its just like you're asleep, but, you don't dream. You never wake up. Nothing happens. That's it. Wham! Nothin'.
- Sandy Wilcox: Maybe. But, I think people's spirits leave their bodies and float around on the sky. In fact, I think its probably getting a little crowded up there and I wonder if the universe can sort of expand, take in everybody?
- Butch Walker: I won't be cremated.
- Sandy Wilcox: But, you said nothing happens to you after you're dead; so, what do you care?
- Butch Walker: I don't know. It just gives me the creeps. That's for sure.
- Sandy Wilcox: Drive. Let's just drive.
- Sandy Wilcox: We've had so much fun. Now, it's - it's all over.
- Butch Walker: Hey, relax, kid. You're just startin' out. There'll be lots of fun for you. Bein' a teenager is the best time of your life. Look at me.
- Sandy Wilcox: Yeah, look at you! Out of gas, walking along a dirt road with an ugly 12 year old.
- Butch Walker: Hey, who says your ugly?
- Sandy Wilcox: You, you creep!
- Butch Walker: Yeah, well, you're not beautiful.
- Sandy Wilcox: You say that one more time and I'll kill you.
- Butch Walker: No, no. Don't, don't! I don't fight with chicks. Okay, okay. You're not ugly.
- Sandy Wilcox: Gee, Butch, that's sweet of you. You really mean that?
- Butch Walker: Well, it's kinda dark out here.
