Likable Terence Hill and stocky Bud Spencer team up again as the valiant duo

This amusing film deals with our intimate friends , they're nowadays a FBI agent (blue-eyes and sympathetic Terence Hill) and a helicopter pilot (grumpy and goofy Bud Spencer) , they leave their jobs for becoming again Miami policemen . They must investigate the killing an ex-con who robbed a bank whose loot is hidden , besides some thieves are robbing the buses' passengers . Later on , they will combat the criminals and robbers.

The 'big time' duo from Spaghetti Western with humor such as ¨They call me Trinity¨, ¨ Trinity is still my name ¨ and sequels were run out and for that reason they are transfered to police/action genre . They then starred the successful ¨ Miami police series ¨, which belong the followings : ¨Crime Busters¨ , ¨Superfuzz¨ and this one . The movie contains silly comedy , the usual light fights and a little bit of action , including some car pursuits . The humor is based on physical and personality differences of the starring , as Terence Hill is the sympathetic and brave hero and Bud Spencer is the corpulent and hunk man . As always , several humorous struggles with no blood , neither violence . This time the plot is some more complex because being developed a ¨ noir ¨ intrigue in charge of Luciano Vicenzone (Sergio Leone's habitual screenwriter as ¨Good, bad and ugly¨ and ¨ For a few dollars more¨) . Mediocre cinematography and horrible disco-music score by La Bionda . The motion picture was regularly directed by Bruno Corbucci (Sergio Corbucci's brother) . It's the last film that features the couple in the 80's, Spencer & Hill reunited for the last time in 1994 and it's also the last film that the couple did with director Bruno Corbucci . Bruno wrote and directed various Hill-Spencer films such as ¨Banana Joe¨ , ¨Miami Supercops¨ , ¨Par-Impar¨ , ¨Cat and Dog¨ and ¨Aladdin¨ . If you love the Hill/Spencer's other movies , go for it, and if you've never seen one this is an acceptable start ; but only for their enthusiasts . The flick will appeal to famous pair fans.

It's okay, but not the Spencer & Hill standard

Well this movie was made in the mid 80-ies, where this glorious duo began to get older & slower. In this movie (I think the "brawling two" is still working here, but it's not that great as in the earlier years, decades.

Here they use guns many times, not something we got used to in the earlier movies. The story isn't really good, sometimes it's not really making sense. *Like the scene with the fingerprints. Why didn't Spencer and Hill take the fingerprints? The bad guy even said he will do it ?! That would've been the proof*

And some scenes are pretty trashy. But there are still good jokes, I laughed many times, it's worth a watch, but they had many better movies.(But worse as well, so this is somewhere in between)

Spaghetti Vice

'Miami Supercops' is the spaghettiest body-cop mystery thriller ever made. Thoug it is not pure thriller, rather a toungue in cheek and thoroughly self aware parody of the popular genre. It uses established formula and uses every cliche possible in the book, but somehow manage to feel original and cliche free. The movie is silly and most of the action is over the top and implausible. Besides the charismatic leading duo the implausibility of the cartoonish action is the main charm of the movie. 'Miami Supercops' is not the best, or even funniest from Terence Hill/Bud Spencer, but it will offer amusing hour and a half of entertainment.

The last call for the long lasting Team of Bud Spencer & Terence Hill

I have to admit, writing about this movie is kind of sad. But there is one thing I have to say upfront. Don't watch it in German, because what they speak there has nothing to do with the original.. Which I, by the way could not figure out in what language it was made, but I guess it was Italian. At the beginning you see Bud Spencer flying in a helicopter, if you switch to English his voice and the lips are in complete sync.. as for Terence Hill you have to switch to Italian to get the perfect sync, but aside from that let's begin: Well they are both pretty were getting older.. Bud was 56 at the time and Terence was 46. If you don't watch it in German, Miami Supercops is the only movie of them where there is a real big Plot and only one big fight at the end. But even without the stupid German dubbing, where every sentence has to be funny there are a few very, very funny scenes.. And this movie has, as I said a plot, pretty complex for Bud/Terence Standards... (Oh, and If you look above, you'll see that on the amazon board it says that it's not available in Germany on DVD. That's an Error. It is under the name, under which it was released in Germany back in 85: Miami Cops, available on DVD for 10,95 Euro)... Since I don't have to tell you what the movie is about.. You can read that in the details of the movie just let me say: It's by for not their worst movie. The music is appropriate to the mid-80's (kinda like Miami Vice).. Well it's an o.k. Movie and well worth the 10,95 Euro at Amazon.de .. To best describe it.. A funny Action Thriller.. And the last with both Actors in it.. And now I don't think they will act together again.. So if you wanna get only one movie of them, get that one.. (It's both of them and only 1 real big stupid fight) Or if you like the fights you can get any of the others... ANY!!! But you see that they are both tired of making their movies.. But if you check for them you will see that they both made something after their "Buddy Movies". Well, I like it. Oh and you can watch it in German if you are real drunk.. Then you will laugh like hell.. That's about it.. Can't thing about more to say about this movie Stephan

A disappointing farewell movie

When I went to see this at the movies in early 1986, I had no clue that it would be the last time I would ever see Bud or Terence together on the big screen ever again.

Sadly I was disappointed by this movie. It was very dull and it was missing the trademark fight scenes, which their movies had become so well known for. Instead they mainly used guns to capture crooks and the odd fight scene that there was, were pretty standard fare and over quickly. I guess the fact that Hill was 46 and Bud 56, it was decided to tone down the physical side a bit.

The final scene of this movie sees our pairing saying goodbye at the airport and a poignant comment is made about money and friends. The two then do a "bro" handshake and the movie ends. After doing a movie together every one to two years since 1967, perhaps this was their official goodbye moment...

Bud and Terence, slower than ever!

Terence Hill and Bud Spencer star as, respectively, a New York cop (!) and an ex-FBI agent (!) who team up again after several years and go to Miami to track down the killer of an infamous robber who had just gotten released from prison. They're supposed to be working undercover, but I don't see anything "undercover" about wearing police uniforms and patroling the streets in a police car. The film is undemanding but technically shoddy (their superior only has to casually press two or three computer keys and they have any information they need to get on with the case), with some of the lamest, laziest fight scenes ever filmed (punches don't connect, opponents strike as if they want to miss, etc.). Contrary to what other people say, I don't think that any movie with Bud and Terence can be completely bad - but this one admittedly comes pretty close. (*1/2)

if you miss the 80' , well.......

this movie was the first ever i saw at the drive-in and even if i was 7 years old , it was an exceptionable film.even if it is an 80's,you have to look further than special effects to like or love this movie.the acting is simple , so is the storyline , if you saw the first one , and the fight scenes are human.it's the best of the film of the duo,and no one should destroy them before seeing the rest.you have to accept the fact of the budget they had and also the music in wave at the time.the in sync of the fight was a choreography to make ballet cheap.and do not forget that it was shot in Italian first,they had to transcript all of the scenario.i just think it was a gem.

Middling action comedy featuring the ageing duo

Miami Supercops is a broad action comedy featuring the popular pairing of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer in their final collaboration with director Bruno Corbucci. This film isn't one of their finest moments, but it is a brisk enough comedy film, just perhaps not quite as funny as others made by the stars. The film is once again set in Florida (as the title would suggest) so expect lots of expansive, sun-bleached scenery.

Hill and Spencer play FBI agents (rather unlikely, I have to say) who go in search for a criminal gang responsible for stealing millions of dollars. Along the way there's time for some cheesy romance and lots of comic interplay between the characters, contrasting the gruff and gigantic Spencer with the handsome, almost fey, Hill. The action outweighs the comedy in this one, but it's all done rather cheaply and doesn't really impress as much as it should. The funniest part of the film is the warehouse shoot-out at the climax, where they save all the best gags and physical humour.

There's nothing super about these Supercops...

Firstly, there's nothing super about these cops. Secondly, 'Miami Supercops' is actually a really badly made movie.

From the bad acting, the excruciating score and sound effects, to the muddled and confusing plot, there was very little entertaining about this 80's action comedy. Oh, and speaking of action; for an 80's action movie, the action sequences are few and far between with nothing spectacular or memorable about them.

Terence Hill stars as cop Doug Bennet, who asks his old pal and ex-cop Steve (Bud Spencer) to help him crack a case. Steve is now a flight instructor. (Why would Doug ask an EX-cop to help him with a case? Are there no-one serving in the force capable of helping him?? If it involved flying, I might have understood). The case they're trying to solve involves theft of $20 million (7 years ago). It only gets worse from here, I'm afraid, with many characters coming and going that I didn't care about or had no idea why they were in the film at all. Many of these characters served no purpose whatsoever.

The film's antagonist only makes his appearance late during the second act, and he is an idiotic character - hardly a villain! The film expects the viewer to digest a lot of detail - which doesn't really make much sense.

'Miami Supercops' are for die-hard Bud Spencer and Terence Hill fans only, or for young boys who dream of becoming cops. From an action movie perspective it certainly doesn't deliver. It's not even good for a laugh as a comedy. Nope. Give this one a skip; there are far better 80's action movies out there - or movies in general...

Miami Synthesiser Cops

This film does not show Bud and Terence at their best. The combination of awful acting, awful wigs and superbly irritating synthesizer music all combine to make this film an effort in endurance to stay watching.

I'm not sure where this comes in the Bud/Terence line up of movies, but, much like the early plot where the two characters team up again for one final mission, this movie has the feel of a movie made after the heyday of the pair. Perhaps even a film made to reunite the two actors in the hope of regaining the magic of the pairing.

Whatever the reason, it doesn't work. The film is a mess and the acting by the non-principals is just plain dire. You know the sort of thing - advertisement acting quality. Add in the lamentably obvious hairpieces, which might as well have had neon "WIG!" signs above each of them and dubbing which, whilst OK in the main, only serves to remind you that it is, in fact, dubbing and you have the recipe for an 80's movie disaster.

Unfortunately, the disaster becomes a calamity of epic proportions when the music is factored in. Some bad films benefit from a synthesizer soundtrack - Hawk the Slayer, for instance - but here, the repetitive and, it has to be said, mindless chord sequences only jar the nerves. Anyone who's ever played an arcade machine from the eighties will quickly recognize the type of "music" that becomes increasingly annoying the more you have to listen to it whilst trying to complete that difficult level.

As for the plot, I was too busy gaping open-mouthed at all the wrongness on display to really pay it much heed. Some hokum about the pairing teaming up again to complete a previously unfinished mission......hmmm....the arcade machine analogy again. And, much like those "difficult-to-complete" games, this movie depends for its completion on how many mental "dimes" you have left to put into it. It really is an exercise in endurance.

I expect fans of the duo will like it nonetheless, but it isn't a patch on "My Name is Nobody" and, like so many other films of the time, it really shows its age now.

Summary: Mindless "Miami Vice wannabee" music, hack acting, awful wigs and so-so dubbing. Not recommended except for the most stalwart of fans.

I am a big fan of these two guys!

After seeing this, it is clear where the creators of the Miami Vice TV series got the idea for the opening title sequence (very similar score, same type of video clips :)

What a mess!

I've just watched this film having found a copy at my local video rental shop. I had to keep watching it because it was so funny. The acting, that is, not the film itself!! I've never seen anything so badly acted! Lines were said in monotone, every scene seemed to be lit by a single light casting shadows all over the place, and the sound effects were awful! Every punch sounds like a twig breaking! It also seems to be heavily dubbed/looped causing serious lip sync problems. The final shoot-out was an absolute joke! Why didn't the guy shoot him in the head once he realised he was wearing a bullet-proof vest?! I recommend this one if you want to have a good belly laugh at some seriously BAD acting and film making. This looks like an amateur production shot for about $10 one weekend!!

Everything that made the 80's obscure

This was the first Bud Spencer/Terence Hill movie I saw and it is probably the last.I just wanted to experience it since it is a very famous formula.The quality is inferior though.Everything that made the 80's such a terrible decade is in this movie.

First of all there is the terrible 80's synthesizer music,it really is a nightmare to hear.The repetitive sounds are so awful that at one point you're only thinking about the mute button.The 80's were not famous for their musical quality (except for Sonic Youth which is brilliant) but this is really the lowest of the low!

The acting is not much better,Spencer and Hill try but they just can't act.The supporting cast isn't any better,even worse! The story doesn't make any sense and is full of holes and dead end streets.

Not a recommendation! 3/10

Not much of a goodbye for Terence Hill and Bud Spencer!

This last Hill/Spencer movie by Corbucci is really bad. It's slow, badly written and the music is plain awful.

It's rather contrived and there's nothing much to fetch hear except ear ache from the synthesizer music. Jee how bad it is!

Go watch Samurai Cop instead, and have a blast!

80's the best!!

Hey senor! The 80's were and will be one of the best decades,if not the BEST century in the history of this pathetic planet. The movies were good, the music was good, the environment was good,life was less fast paced and more relaxed and definitely they don't make greats like Buddy and Terry anymore!! Nowadays movies are filled with gory and mindless violence and inane predictable computer graphics. Why even a 2 yr old kid can make a movie these days. There does not appear to be any creativity in todays movies. I grew up in the 80's and I must say i thoroughly enjoyed a lot. There were many good themes to choose from unlike todays vapid fare!!

Terence Hill and Bud Spencer with guns?

I've known this rowdy Italian duo since I first saw them in "Watch Out, We're Mad" (1974). This film was the penultimate one they made together... and it was the second time they played American police officers since "Crime Busters" (1977); Well, this movie is honestly the weakest they've ever made, and why is that? Two thirds of the action scenes have been replaced by guns drawn. Bud's "slaps" and Terence's punches disappear almost completely from the film when the two protagonists draw their guns and threaten the staff. And then where is the grace? This is when they stop being rowdy... you only see 2 or 3 moments in which they "let loose" like they do until they draw their pistols and the magic is lost (and don't tell me it's because of how old they were, since 9 years later they returned in "Troublemakers" (1994), and "they let go" as in the old days...). And to top it off, the soundtrack only has one musical theme that is repeated endlessly throughout the film. In the filmography of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill this is their weakest film.

One of my absolute Spencer/Hill favorites

"Miami Supercops" is, despite the title, an Italian movie, but it is set in Miami and as a consequence there is also some English talking in here. But these Spencer/Hill movies never really made it big in English-language countries, so no worries. No matter where you are from, you can enjoy this one. Also if you are from Germany because this is where Spencer has always been at his most appreciated. This one is from 1985, so already one of the epic duo's later collaborations and this came out when I was not even a year old. The director is Bruno Corbucci and this man directed a lot, but his main profession was writer, so no surprise that here he is one of the two writers as well. I am a bit surprised to see Hill getting first credit here, but they really are equals, him and Spencer. Maybe it was just because H comes before S (or G comes before P) in the alphabet. It's also not at all the only film in which the duo portray police officers, even if they always are a bit on the clumsy side and not the most competent fellas. However, this film here was much more serious than some of the other stuff they did. I will get to that later. For now, let me add that you will really not find any other remotely famous actors in the cast here. It is all about the two stars. The one who plays the Indian for example has never acted in another project before or after this one and that surprised me a bit because his role was not tiny. Ken Ceresne plays the main antagonist here and I think he did a good enough job. I certainly would have thought that he played in more films than he actually did. Good villain portrayal really in terms of how sleazy, corrupt and ruthless he is. This movie here ran for 95 minutes, so not short, but still shorter than most of the other stuff the two on the imdb photo appeared in.

Maybe this film is especially nice to watch for people from Miami to see what the city was like back then. Of course, it is not 100% authentic, but still. Or just to see the city, maybe recognize two or three places. I think this came out when Miami Vice as running too and maybe it is not a complete coincidence because there were also two men in the lead. The soundtrack also sounded fairly similar, especially during the opening, which had nothing to do with Spencer or Hill, but was pretty much a 3.5-minute tribute to Miami. And to smart parrots. Now a few words on some scenes and moments that I would like to elaborate on. I will also go a bit into detail about those. I think the film started on a really high note with Hill's character posing as a statue to catch two store robbers. Lots of fun, also his gesture to the store owner there with the eye. What I mentioned earlier as something truly different from this film here is that this was a lot about crime and action too, not just about funny pointless comedy with crime elements. I think this is a bit unusual. Guns are fired, even if nobody is really hurt this way and all the red we see is not blood, but comes from tomato sauce or something at the very end. Almost a bit of a spoof there. But yeah, the film starts on a rather serious note with the two main characters dealing with an old case and somebody who gets killed there. So death is talked about, even if it does not take place. Especially in the final sequence, it was almost comical. We see this big Indian guy walk right at the main antagonist and the bullets do nothing. How about a shot to the head? Come on guys. Or the electrocution scene. It is kinda hilarious how they all get up immediately afterwards as if nothing happened. In real life, they probably all would have been dead. But this warehouse scene was great fun in the end and one of the key reasons why I give this one a thumbs-up.

Another reason is the actually interesting story about one character taking a former pal's identity and managing a big career. And of course, the banter between Hill and Spencer was also entertaining as usual. Almost more entertaining than with most other films, especially the running gag sequences in which Hill's character has no money and Spencer's has to pay for him and Hill's even encourages him like with the donation for the deceased cop's family. Many other examples. Sports scenes in Spencer/Hill movies are also no rarity and here we are in a really big stadium on one occasion. Pretty brief though that one. What else can I add? Oh yes the scene in which the two big fellas change the shape of the metal. That was funny. Like a more distinguished Schwanzvergleich as we say here in Germany. Or maybe it is not a great comparison because Spencer's character was not a show-off, but got encouraged by Hill's to help the Indian guy in something like an act of kindness. I will spare you the detailed translation of the German word I just mentioned. You probably understand exactly what I mean. And if not, no worries. Women also play a part in this film and like most of the time, this is rather linked to Hill's character. He is the heart-throb usually. Even if his story with the woman and why he remembers her face was not particularly interesting. Or memorable. But some other aspects here are. For example that Spencer's character also had a love interest here and that is something that really did not happen too often in these films. She clearly loved his physical strength.

Hill (or I should say his character) getting knocked out in a movie like these is also a rare occurrence. On a completely different note, the eagle reference towards the end is also pretty cool fur sure. Okay, maybe slightly far-fetched, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A lot more to talk about here. I will just include a few examples: Like you really don't see Hill too often in a suit. Early on, in this one you do. Could not be any further away from his western movie past, even if despite different clothing he was always a gentleman in those films too. Well, most of the time. This is one of my favorite films from 1985 and I easily give it a thumbs-up. It has more depth than Spencer/Hill movies usually do, just take their investigations concerning the surgeon, and the plot is not complete garbage. At least I think so. Apparenty, others thought differently with the rather low rating here on imdb. Still, don't trust them and go watch for yourself. It's close to a must-see. Big thumbs-up. Oh I forgot about the gay hotel owner and how much he loves muscles and the police car explosion when they are after the crook. Interesting scenes. Those were also fun. And finally it can be said that (at the very start) fans of waltz music will also see some quality in this movie. I personally, however, preferred the sight of Bud Spencer in a big red overall.

Super Cop Movie

Terence Hill & Bud Spencer was a valid duo in this movie as per their role. Their screen presence in whole movie was enjoyable especially Terrence fools bud Spencer for convincing him to come to Miami. Stunt sequences as usual rocking with that indian character. It's really surprising that plastic surgery concept was there even in 80s. Overall it's good action comedy cop movie.

Hill and Spencer

Vote isn't for this movie, but the original team of hill and Spencer in the Trinity days, cm-on you got to admit to actually make fun of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, and still have some good gunfighting, it was great. If your looking for cinematography, sound mixing, etc... Go to your local art Indie film house, where it will look beautiful and make no sense at all. But its so avant guard, kinda like feces on a mat called art. Please don't waste your time with my attacking me personally as seen in the past on this board, its a matter of opinion, I don't like art type films, my personal opinion. If you do, and can understand them, then maybe we'll go sometime and I can learn to understand and enjoy, in fact I am always looking to broaden my horizons, in fact just ever get a chance to watch Dexter on show-time, now that will make you think.

Best Spoof Ever

Why was this comedy spoof on 70s and 80s cop shows so awesome? It was because it was more subtle, yet effective than similar heavy slapstick spoofs. It was a laugh a minute. This movie totally got the corny phony machoism of these tv shows I grew up to the "t". Don't get me wrong. I like CHIPs and Miami Vice, but these film does such a great job getting down the square comments by the officers, the overdramaticization, and the cool, witticism that made these shows so much fun, and yet also very silly. The whole movie used every cliche from the standard 70s and 80s cop show. A lot of reviewers seem to have missed how well written this movie was, and because it was not outrageous, like say the Ace Ventura films, it was even more effective at satire. And the nearly clone theme, a parody of Jan Hammer's Miami Vice theme was also great.
