Little Richie is entertaining the class when the teacher is out, then when she returns, he is forced to stay after as punishment to clean up (mainly) the papers the class threw at him. His teacher also suggests he try out for the school play, Romeo and Juliet, to express his need to entertain. Richie wins the part of Romeo, but is unsure if he can perform it in front of a live audience. After imagining that he completely botches his performance in front of all and has fruit and vegetables thrown at him, he runs away. Only after a talking to by the local bum does he return and goes through with it. Turned out it was him who had to carry the whole play (flawlessly, no less) as his classmate playing Juliet was the one so overcome with severe stage fright she couldn't even give her lines.
