- The last scene of this film depicts the condemned character played by Andy Griffith in the electric chair and about to die. His head has been shaved and he is yelling arrogantly that he is, "the King of Meriwether County." I found this scene to be very disturbing when I was a child, especially since I had come to know Griffith's character in the Andy Griffith show to be so caring and humble.
