HBO is developing the miniseries “Soldier Girls” with Julia Louis-Dreyfus attached to executive produce, TheWrap has learned. Based on Helen Thorpe’s 2014 nonfiction book, “Soldier Girls: The Battles of Three Women at Home and at War,” the miniseries tells the stories of three real-life women who enlisted in the National Guard and served their country during the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, which led them to form life-long friendships. The “Veep” star will executive produce with her husband Brad Hall. Nicole Riegel will write and co-executive produce. By the time the last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week rolls around, I’m usually suffering from fashion fatigue — but there’s always one show I still get super excited for, and it’s Lamb. Not only do I have a huge girl crush on Gwen Stefani, but when it comes to putting on a really fun show, Gwen is a pro!
Overall, the collection is super wearable and full of signature Gwen staples. While there were five different groups, consisting of Soldier Girls, Mod Girls, and Buffalo Girls, there were a variety of get-ups in each category that I found myself lusting after — my favorite being a grey and red plaid tunic-type dress.

Sundance Institute at BAM returns to the Brooklyn Academy of Music from May 31-June 10, featuring award-winning feature and short films, live performances and panel discussions.
The series opens with The Savages, Tamara Jenkins' comic drama starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laura Linney and Philip Bosco.
This year's dramatic features include Tom DiCillo's Delirious, Sterlin Harjo's Four Sheets to the Wind, JJ Lask's On the Road With Judas, Christopher Zalla's Padre Nuestro, Jeffrey Blitz's Rocket Science, David Gordon Green's Snow Angels and Dror Shaul's Sweet Mud.
The series also will highlight musical performances by Ljova, the Blue Jackets with Bradford Reed, Rhythm Republik and Sussan Deyhim. New York-based theater company Mabou Mines will perform selections from "Song for New York: What Women Do While Men Sit Knitting," directed by Ruth Maleczech, which is scheduled for full production in September.
The closing weekend will feature Barbara Kopple's Shut Up & Sing, Raoul Peck's Lumumba and Nick Broomfield's Soldier Girls, followed by a discussion on social issues and documentary filmmaking.
The full program for the Sundance Institute at BAM will be announced in April.

The International Documentary Assn. has created an award this year to recognize cinematographers. The first docu DP to earn the IDA's honor is Joan Churchill, who has compiled about 50 cinematography credits since the early 1970s. Churchill has shot such projects as Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer, Soldier Girls and, more recently, Bearing Witness, a feature-length docu directed by Barbara Kopple and Bob Eisenhardt about female journalists working in combat zones in Iraq. "Joan Churchill is a complete filmmaker who has earned the respect of her peers and made a difference in the world," IDA president Richard Propper said. "She exemplifies the values and spirit of nonfiction filmmakers around the world."...
