The movie is a romantic drama not a war drama.A movie antisistem and with nudity who prove once again censorship in comunism doesen't exist is just capitalist propaganda to fool the stupid people

25th anniversary of a brilliant film!

Warning: Spoilers
It is strange that such nice film has not got any comment until now... Though I saw it only once and long ago, I would like to see it again. Unfortunately in is not on screen now...The plot of the film is unexpectedly actual for today's Russia ( and I suppose for many post-communist countries). The film is perfect tragedy which provokes thoughts and could not be forgotten. The main character tries to find himself in a rapidly changing situation of post-WWII Yugoslavia. Peaceful time needs different heroes and all his partisan experience is not necessary. One more point is his love to a ballet dancer in, which does not help him to transform, but makes only weaker. The final of the film, when the character commits suicide,is really impressive. Especially, because it is unexpected...The story about the past turns out to be about future. At the same time this is an eternal plot.

One of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen.

Forget Hollywood and all the blather it represents.

This story is reality. The reality of forever having to re-invent yourself to cope with society, the reality of having to justify yourself to others so you're not forever hounded, the reality that you truly do only ever love once. As the title song states, "you only love once, everything else is a lie."

If you manage to get a chance at viewing this masterpiece, watch it at all costs. I guarantee that you won't come out the same person. This story touches deeply on so many levels that I still shed a tear thinking of it (and that doesn't come easily for a middle-aged biker!).
