No Doubt reunited for the first time in almost a decade at Coachella on Saturday night. The ska legends performed a 16-song set that included a surprise appearance from Olivia Rodrigo and a cover of Madness’ “One Step Beyond.”
Rodrgio, who recently declared No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani “the prime example” of a “true artist,” joined the band for “Bathwater.”
Elsewhere in the set, No Doubt performed hits like “Hella Good,” “Don’t Speak,” “Spiderwebs,” and “Just a Girl,” plus their covers of Madness’ “One Step Beyond” and Talk Talk’s “It’s My Life.” Stefani also dedicated a performance of “Simple Kind Of Life” to her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale.
Watch videos of the performance and check out the full setlist below.
No Doubt first announced their reunion this past January, with their Coachella booking being revealed later that same day. Their booking makes sense, considering Coachella’s affinity for reunions.

Colin Farrell stars in ‘Sugar’ (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)
Apple TV+’s Sugar kicks off with a neo-noir vibe, gorgeous black-and-white and backed by a classic detective film-inspired track. But don’t settle in and expect the eight-episode season to remain true to that opening noir nod in every scene. With Oscar nominee Colin Farrell leading the way, the series takes viewers on a roller coaster ride through various genres (while remaining true to the hard-boiled detective aesthetic) as the titular character unravels clues in his search for a missing woman.
Created by Mark Protosevich, Sugar refuses to be stuffed into a specific genre box, subverting expectations and teasing twists. Whatever expectations you have for Sugar based on its first two episodes, Protosevich has something entirely different in store.
Farrell’s lead character delivers voice-over exposition throughout, and his engaging performance as a gumshoe with a love of Hollywood and classic films draws you in.

Get ready for a gritty noir mystery thriller series set in Los Angeles created by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) and directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God). Apple TV+’s latest series titled Sugar is an original story and it follows the titular character Private Detective John Sugar, who goes to LA to find a missing girl named Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As he digs deeper into the case he finds some secrets the Siegel family would have liked to keep buried.
While the critical reception of Sugar is not as good as I would have hoped, it is still an impressive series and worth your time. So, if you want to lose yourself in the dirty underbelly of LA with Pi John Sugar, here are the dates for the series’ upcoming episodes.

It’s become a catchphrase these days to compare TV to cinema.
Showrunners, stars, and producers often say their work is a long-form movie, as if being on TV is still somewhat taboo despite the soaring success of the medium.
Whether it’s big action, adventurous character arcs, or unbelievable cinematography, some people still find it hard to believe TV encompasses what once made film so unique.
Film stars and directors have flocked to the small screen to take advantage of the generosity of storytelling available, to see characters come to life with every human nuance available.
Experimentation exists on screens, both small and large, but on TV, you can make a different show every week or grow from one genre to another within the same season.

Just last week, Netflix announced that Heartstopper season 3 will premiere in October, but unfortunately, the great Olivia Colman won’t be returning.
“I couldn’t do number three. I couldn’t fit it in. I feel awful about that,” Olivia Colman told Forbes about Heartstopper season 3. “I feel like I was part of one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been part of.” Colman played Sarah Nelson in the series, the mother of the main character Nick (Kit Connor). Should there be a fourth season, Colman would love to return, provided more scheduling difficulties don’t get in the way.

The first time Ethan Edenburg, Eric Jackowitz, and Tom McGovern hung out, they wrote a song. It was March 2022, and they were in Los Angeles, toying around with their instruments, when the conversation turned to what it would be like to have a midlife crisis while visiting Las Vegas.
“It’s a Sunday on the Strip. My divorced-ass moved to Vegas,” McGovern started singing as he played piano. “My wife left and took the kids. And it’s a good thing that she did ’cause they were annoying as shit.

Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson and Olivia Colman are thrilled to be a part of a very different kind of Marvel story. Their mature espionage thriller dives deeper into Nick Fury, grappling with the Avengers founder’s age and post-blip malaise. His decline is so noticeable that Fury’s inner circle have considerable doubt whether he can do anything to stop the Skrull rebellion that Kingsley Ben-Adir’s Gravik is leading to devastating effect.
“[The bad guy] actually referred to Fury as ‘vapors of himself,’ which is harsh,” Jackson tells The Hollywood Reporter. “So it’s time to reassess or reevaluate who you are, what you’re doing and how you’re doing it. And throughout the course of this series, he finds ways to strengthen himself so that he can be up to the task at hand.”

Madmind Studio have once again courted the ire of Steam, this time with the VR version of their 2021 title, Succubus. Succubus: Hellish Orgy VR, which had been announced during Madnight 2023, has been banned from the service.
Reported by our friends at RelyOnHorror, Hellish Orgy VR was scheduled to be released Q1 2023 on Steam VR, but has now had its Steam page wiped (though you can still find it on SteamDB). According to Madmind, Hellish Orgy VR was removed from Steam for being “too disturbing.” Valve reportedly had concerns over the titles “drastic content”, though didn’t get into specifics as to what that entailed.
Though honestly, given that the game was described as casting the player as the servant of Queen Vydija (the titular Succubus from the game), and tasked to do everything to satisfy her macabre desires, you can draw your own conclusions.

This expensive production was dismissed as a flop, and literary critics scorned it for diluting the famed novel by Theodore Dreiser. But it plays well now: William Wyler gives star Laurence Olivier what may be his best film acting role ever. Jennifer Jones’ title part suffers from script changes that censor and sentimentalize Dreiser’s intentions, but the film remains a shattering tragedy. Eddie Albert co-stars in one of his first dramatic roles; this encoding includes a scene dropped from the original release.

With the Berlin Film Festival’s Golden Bear awarded to Spanish director Carla Simón and four of the country’s titles featuring in competition at Cannes, there’s a quiet air of confidence among Spanish industry professionals, including José Luis Rebordinos, director of the San Sebastian Film Festival.
“This has been the best year for Spanish cinema,” Rebordinos tells Deadline shortly after revealing the line-up for San Sebastian’s latest edition, running from September 16-24.
This year the prominent Spanish festival, celebrating its 70th edition, kicks into gear with some 200 films across its six competitive and seven non-competitive sections. The selection will be bookended by Friday night’s opening film Prison 77 (Modelo 77), from Spanish filmmaker Alberto Rodríguez, and Neil Jordan’s latest film Marlowe, starring Diane Kruger and Liam Neeson, which will close the festival. Fans went into a frenzy over the first trailer for Olivia Wilde’s upcoming psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling starring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh as married couple Alice and Jack.
Viewers were particularly enraptured by a brief, racy glimpse at Styles’ character performing oral sex on Pugh’s.
However, in a new interview with Associated Press, Wilde said that the trailer originally included more of the provocative scene, but was cut down by the audience rating board.
“There’s a lot that had to be taken out of the trailer,” she said. “The MPA [Motion Picture Association] came down hard on me and the trailer at the last second and I had to cut some shots, which I was upset about because I thought they it took it up another notch.”

The "Game of Thrones" prequel is set almost 200 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, and the premiere set the stage for the downfall of the house of the dragonriders. Whatever you thought of the final season of "Game of Thrones," it's clear from the viewership that at least some of the naysayers are willing to give this franchise another go.
The first series, based on the books by George R.R. Martin, was full of huge revelations and character deaths, pulling people back in, year after year, episode after episode. If you were raised in a house tuned to Am radio in the 1970s and early ‘80s, chances are that the crystalline vocals of Olivia Newton-John, who died Monday at age 73 at her Southern California ranch, were a big part of your childhood soundtrack.
This was especially true if you grew up in Australia, where we eagerly claimed her as our own, even if Onj was born in Britain and moved with her family to Melbourne when she was 5. I just have to think about her 1971 breakthrough hit, a wistful, soft-rock country love song by Bob Dylan called “If Not for You,” to start it playing in my head on a loop for days. “Let Me Be There,” from the same debut solo album has a similar lasting hold over me, as does “Banks of the Ohio,” a 19th-century down-home murder ballad rendered with sweet,...

Lee Mi-Mi’s intoxicating film, which sits in a rich cinematic tradition of all-girls’ schools, with their homoerotic tensions, as social microcosms, earns a rare screening this week
Love is a many-splendoured thing in Lee Mi-Mi’s Girls’ School, a Taiwanese gem from 1982 beautifully restored just in time for its 40th anniversary. Screened in the UK at BFI Southbank as part of Queer East, an LGBTQ+ film festival showcasing lesser-known treasures from east and south-east Asian cinema, Girls’ School is a time capsule of social attitudes towards homosexuality in 1980s Taiwan at the meeting point between commercial and arthouse film-making.
As a site of surveillance, tempestuous impulses and healing camaraderie, all-girls’ schools can double as a microcosm for society and have a psychological intensity that has fascinated generations of film-makers. Dario Argento’s Suspiria (1977) views such places as a source of horror and mystery while The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie...

Olivia Rodrigo may have gotten her start on Disney+‘s original series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as Nini, but she’s taking her triple-platinum debut album Sour to the streaming platform with Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u (a Sour film). Set to arrive Friday, March 25 on the streamer, we’re offering her fans a sneak peek behind the curtain with an exclusive clip from the movie. Featuring songs like “drivers license,” “traitor,” “Good 4 U,” and the titular track “sour,” the album arrived in May 2021, and since then has become a major hit. (Credit: Disney+) But the process was a little more tedious for the performer who worked on Sour for a year in the studio before fans were finally allowed to listen, and in the sneak peek, above, all of that hard work comes to an end as Rodrigo and her producer, Dan Nigro, finish the album.

In a video circulating on social media this week, “Law & Order: Svu” star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay leapt into action to help get a shoot in New York City back on track.
In the video, she respectfully asks a man to stop singing and interrupting a shoot in in Washington Square Park, telling him: “Your singing was beautiful, but we’re just trying to get the shot. Is it okay if you don’t sing when we say ‘action’?”
According to the Twitter user who posted the video, a passerby in the park had been singing loudly to intentionally disrupt the shoot, and refused to stop when asked by members of the “Law & Order: Svu” crew. Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson in the NBC crime drama, then approached him herself.

Movies set in the near future are sometimes rendered moot by subsequent events, but Richard Brooks’ bizarrely prescient political satire makes more sense in a post 9/11 world than it did in 1982. Only nominally based on Charles McCarry’s espionage novel “The Better Angels”, this adaptation takes a comparatively minor character, newshound Patrick Hale, and inflates him to media hero status worthy of star Sean Connery, heading a large cast of familiar faces.

Pairing wine with movies! See the trailers and hear the fascinating commentary for these movies and many more at Trailers From Hell. As if the pandemic isn’t bad enough news, we lost another movie great last week. Sean Connery passed away at the ripe old age of 90. R.I.P, Mr. Connery.
Dr. No, directed by Terence Young in 1962, was the first film in the James Bond series, Sean Connery played Bond, James Bond, opposite Ursula Andress. Nice work if you can get it. Remember how you couldn’t get away from spy shows in the ‘60s? Dr. No is why. After the film’s success, the spies all came in from the cold. The character Andress plays, by the way, is a shell diver. That’s right, she sells sea shells by the seashore.
The movie is set in Jamaica, so how about pairing it with Jamaican wine?...

After last week’s offbeat slate of home media releases, things are back on track this Tuesday, with a wildly eclectic assortment of titles headed home just in time for the Halloween season. If somehow you haven’t been adding any of the Blumhouse movies to your home collections over the years, you can now play catch-up rather easily with their Blumhouse of Horrors: 10-Movie Collection. Vinegar Syndrome is once again doing the dark lord’s work with their releases of Pandemonium and The Caller, and Severin Films is showing some love to both Cruel Jaws and Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, too.
Scream Factory has put together a brand new collector’s edition Blu-ray for Ghost Ship that arrives this week, and if you’re someone who digs on “banana pants” cinematic experiences, you’ll definitely want to pick up Agfa’s Blu-ray for Sometimes Aunt Martha Does Dreadful Things.
