John Wesley is the first and only to purposely crash a bobsled at full speed (to complete a film sequence). He drove the sled with the IMAX camera, tested all experiments for Excalibur Automobiles for N.B.C World News. He's instantly become a world record holder.
Movie was filmed at Mont Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. The mountain layout and buildings in the movie were the originals from 1950 and stayed until mid 90's when the mountain was purchased by Intrawest and re-developed to what it is today. The only buildings that are still there today are the Church and the Lodge where the actors film several scenes outside as well as inside. All the lifts and other buildings are no longer there.
Second Unit Director Craig Baxley and Stuntmen Steve Boyum were the two who crashed the bobsled on Top of the Hill.
The two rode the bobsled down a offstage 70 meter ski jump/ramp on blocks of ice and crashed through the exterior of the turn, twenty-five feet off the ground landing in a buried catcher. The bobsled sequence was shot in Lake Placid, the stunt was done in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada
