Arcadia Lake playing a virgin is a bit of a stretch
movieman_kev22 March 2005
Honey (Arcadia Lake) is a pathetic nut job virgin who lusts for Eric Edwards as Johnathon, a local beauty salon, but can't tell him. Why she wants Johnathon so badly when he has the legendary John Holmes working for him is really anybodies guess. Anyway she gets help from Lori (Katie Kean, in her first and sadly only appearance in porn)* to make Johnathon want her. I could've done without the choice of music to accompany the sex scenes (disco in some, a foreboding orchestra in others) and the story was lacking, but any of the scenes with John Holmes with pretty good. (even though not nearly his best) All in all a better then average porn film.

My Grade: C+

*since my original review it's come to light thanks to a fellow IMDb member that Katie Kean is in actuality Patty Boyd, she's also been in multiple other porn films under a vast multitude of aliases. Sorry for the confusion and thanks go out to grahamsalinas for pointing it out to me

Poor Arcadia and that devil Eric
hollywoodshack27 October 2009
The phenomenon known as John Wadd Holmes displays his largess and charm well in this film where he is ha, ha.. (a hairstylist?} who seduces his clients Samantha Fox and Serena. He was so loved by his porn starlet partners that they announced their retirement as soon as he said he was quitting adult movies to join a church and cope with AIDS. Otherwise the plot seems to be a quick valentine and announcement for the marriage of Eric Edwards to his third wife, Arcadia Lake. Arcadia has a rare lead role as Honey, a beautician who works for Eric's salon. She is so shy she makes anonymous phone calls confessing her love for him. Her pal, a receptionist played by Katie Keen (aka Patty Boyd) offers to increase her confidence and improve her appearance in a demonic lesbian bonding ritual followed by spectatoring while Katie has sex with her boyfriend (Ron Hudd) who delivers lines during their union that are really ridiculous and mechanical. Also a weakness in the film are the cruel scenes where Arcadia is told to watch and learn while Edwards seduces Fox and Serena. You can just see her face swell up with rage, tears and jealousy. To stretch this bizarre premise even more, Arcadia might have been originally planned to be in love with Holmes's character, but fearful of size differences between the herself and him.

In a scene between Edwards and Lake, too much music erases any passion sounds while the two congratulate themselves on their own love together. Exploitation of unhappy off-camera lives of the two leads rarely happens, and the outcome was later tragic. Note: Samantha Fox is on the box cover photo frowning, not our star Arcadia. Why?

Women like a plot and this one will make them happy
berkprod14 November 2004
Straight sex may turn on the guys but women like a story line and better yet, a happy ending. This fills the bill. There are a lot of good classics from John Christopher and J. Angel Martine. Newer videos have lost the touch. John Holmes was also good in the Pizza Girl and the one where he plays a doctor in the research hospital. It is sometimes hard to find classic videos in the marketplace but if you can find someone who distributes The Collegiate, it is worth the money. Candy is O.K. and comes from a hometown Producer and Director. Too bad that Johnny Wadd is gone. His movies are missed. We will wait for more releases. Of course if John Christopher or Angel Martine are still around, they need to start making more videos.
