It was a tense game of Wheel of Fortune on Thursday night (March 14) as one contestant swooped in at the last moment to clinch the final puzzle and cement their spot in the Bonus Round. The contestant in question was Max McGee from Lake Barrington, Illinois, who told host Pat Sajak he watches the show every day at 5:30 am after recording it the night before. He also revealed he was on the musical variety television series Dance Fever back in the 1980s. McGee had reason to dance after Thursday’s game, where he snuck in at the last second to “steal” an answer from fellow contestant Patricia Blackburn-Hunt from Miami, Florida. For the final puzzle of regular play, the three contestants, including New Rochelle, New York native Billie Kolinsky, were trying to figure out a five-word puzzle under the “Phrase” category. With the letters on the board reading, “_ / _ _ _ T...

Florence Welch revealed that she recently underwent “emergency” surgery that “saved [her] life” in a note to fans explaining a string of recently-canceled Florence and the Machine concerts.
Welch didn’t specify what the surgery was, or the risk she was facing, saying only: “I’m so sorry that I had to cancel the last couple shows. My feet are fine, I had to have emergency surgery for reasons I don’t really feel strong enough to go into yet, but it saved my life.” (The remark about her feet is...

Florence Welch has revealed that she recently underwent emergency life-saving surgery.
The Florence + The Machine singer says she doesn’t “really feel strong enough” to go into the circumstances of the surgery. However, due to the procedure she was forced to cancel a pair of upcoming concerts in Portugal and Spain.
“Suffice to say I wish the songs were less accurate in their predictions,” Welch wrote in a letter to fans. “But creativity is a way of coping, mythology is a way of making sense. And the dark fairytale of [the band’s latest album] Dance Fever, with all its strange prophecies, will provide me with much needed strength and catharsis right now.”

Since its 2021 debut, "Yellowjackets" has had the best soundtrack on TV, and season 2 kept up the momentum across its nine-episode run. Half of "Yellowjackets" is set in the 1990s and so the soundtrack pulls mostly from that era, especially indie rock, pop punk, and grunge. Those styles congeal into "No Return," the show's hypnotic original theme crafted by Anna Waronker and Craig Wedren. It sounds like the kind of song the characters could have listened to as teenagers and one that hints at their dark descent.
If you're in a playlist-making mood, check out /Film's own guide to every song on the "Yellowjackets" season 2 soundtrack. Beyond these songs being kick-ass, what do they bring to the show? I'd argue they not only add to the mood, they make watching "Yellowjackets" extra rewarding for viewers — you don't just walk away with great memories of the show itself, but new songs and...

Florence and the Machine has shared a new song, “Mermaids,” which is part of the “universe” of the group’s recent LP Dance Fever.
The track, produced by Dave Bayley, is a darkly layered pop tune that sees Florence Welch singing about the grey English weather, Britney Spears and “cheerful oblivion.” “You haven’t seen nothing/ until you’ve seen an English girl drink,” Welch croons over a propulsive synth beat.
Welch previously teased the new song with several Instagram posts, including one of her in a bathtub wearing a mermaid tail and vampire teeth.

Florence + The Machine have released a dark and dancey new single entitled “Mermaids.” Stream the song below.
With lyrical references to mermaids with “sharp teeth” who come to drink, dance, and “sacrifice a human heart,” the song’s sinister underbelly is contrasted by the angelic beauty of singer Florence Welch’s legendary vocal cords. Cool and confident, she delivers the poetic lines with a similar meter and punch as one of her biggest inspirations, Iggy Pop. When the refrain of “cheerful oblivion” arrives, you can’t help but get caught up in the reflective madness.
The release of “Mermaids” comes after several weeks of teasing the song on social media. On April 6th, the band posted a reel featuring edited-together clips from mermaid-themed horror films with the caption “A new song is coming to the Dance Fever universe,” referencing their celebrated 2022 LP. Sales of cassette tapes are at their highest levels in 20 years.
The surge has been driven by high-selling releases from bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, and pop star Harry Styles.
According to new research from The British Phonographic Industry, sales of cassette tapes have risen for 10 consecutive years.
In 2012, the total number of cassette sales was just 3,823. In 2022, the annual figure had risen to 195,000.
However, cassette sales still lag far behind other formats, including vinyl records.
Also among the biggest selling cassette artists was Florence + the Machine. The best-selling cassette album of the year was The Car by Arctic Monkeys, released in October. Harry’s House by Styles followed in second place, while Florence + the Machine’s Dance Fever came in third.
Other artists to make the top 10 include Muse, Central Cee, Robbie Willimas, Blackpink, and Machine Gun Kelly.

Florence Welch’s Broadway-bound musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic The Great Gatsby is ready to make its theatrical stage debut next year.
Simply titled Gatsby, the musical will premiere at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2024. Welch is collaborating with producer Thomas “Doveman” Bartlett to write the lyrics and music for the project.
The book for Gatsby was created by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Martyna Majok (Cost of Living), with Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin attached to direct and fellow Tony winner Sonya Tayeh providing choreography.
“This book has haunted me for a large part of my life,” said Welch in a statement when the musical was announced. “It contains some of my favorite lines in literature. Musicals were my first love, and I feel a deep connection to Fitzgerald’s broken romanticism. It is an honor to have been offered the chance to recreate this book in song.

These past 12 months have given us great pop albums. Massive comebacks have been at the forefront with new releases from artists like Adele and Harry Styles, and we’ve also seen more pop artists find success with critics as well as on the charts. As such, it’s time to dive into the most popular albums with chances at Grammy nominations (and a win) for Best Pop Vocal Album.
SEE2023 Grammys pop preview: Performance contenders include huge hits and epic collabs
Some albums are close to locks. Adele’s “30” is an obvious frontrunner due to how much voters love her (she hasn’t lost a Grammy race in years), and how big the album was in its first few months. Likewise, Styles will probably get his second nomination in this category for his record “Harry’s House,” which netted career-best numbers for him. Adele is the more traditional pick, whereas...

Florence Welch, the bewitching siren at the helm of Florence and the Machine, wrote her fifth album Dance Fever as an ode to what it felt like to share live music with people. It’s the type of pandemic-created album that was built for a moment like this: Welch and her band headlining an intimate show at New York’s Alice Tully Hall in front of a sea of fans dressed like the cast of Euphoria were headed to a Renaissance Faire.

The last thing people might have expected from “NCIS: LA” stars Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J is a reality series where professional child dancers invite their parents onto the dance floor, but it turns out the heartwarming “Come Dance With Me” competition, which premieres April 15 on CBS, is very much in their wheelhouse.
During a virtual CBS panel on Wednesday, O’Donnell revealed he’s been working on the idea for a few years with Reinout Oerlemans at 3 Ball Productions, and that his crime-solving partner on TV wanted in on the project.
“Chris came to me with this germ of an idea and I immediately gravitated towards it, “said Cool J. “I thought it was an incredible idea. I thought it was really fun. I thought the energy was right. This was pre-pandemic, but even at that time, I felt like the world could use a nice family...

Chris O’Donnell was on set at “NCIS: Los Angeles,” checking his emails, when co-star LL Cool J started looking over his shoulder. O’Donnell happened to be reading about a reality TV idea that his buddy Reinout Oerlemans had just pitched.
The concept is what would become “Come Dance With Me,” a new family-oriented dance competition that premieres April 15 on CBS. But at that moment, O’Donnell wasn’t quite sure he was up for working on a competition show.
“[LL] says, ‘What are you looking at?’” O’Donnell recalled. “I told him it was my friend’s idea for a new show. He goes, ‘I think that thing’s hot! You should do it. This is up your alley.’ And then he was like, ‘I’ll do it if you do it!’”
O’Donnell replied to Oerlemans: “So good news, not only will I do it, but my buddy Todd will do it too!

“Dance Fever” host Deney Terrio has filed suit in a Florida court against Hasbro, Inc., claiming that Vinnie Terrio, an animated gecko and toy figurine, violates his publicity rights, according to legal papers obtained by TheWrap. The suit contends that Vinnie, a character on the Canadian-American animated TV series “Littlest Pet Shop,” represents a “willful and deliberate use” of Deney’s name, image and likeness without his consent. Among the alleged violations stated in the suit is Deney’s signature dance move, the classic hand-to-hip and finger point made famous by John Travolta in the movie “Saturday Night Fever,” on which Terrio served as.

Much like The Burning, The Final Terror is one of those early Eighties slasher-in-the-woods flicks that may actually be more noteworthy because of how many members of its young cast would go on to greater stardom.
Scream Factory is dusting off this nearly forgotten screamer for Blu-ray release as part of its “Summer of Fear”.
Forest rangers go camping in the woods and trespass into wilderness territory they shouldn’t have. Pot is smoked. Sex is had. Canoes are paddled. Throats are cut.
A fairly standard 1982 slasher that’s better than some, worse than others, The Final Terror has primarily toiled in obscurity since the VHS days, a little surprising considering it boasted a cast that would go on to bigger and better things.

Let’s go beyond the candelabra: Name 5 Best Actor Oscar winners and the gay biopic roles you want them to play.
Well, I’ll be the millionth to say it: Behind the Candelabra was a worthy two hours of television! It was an appropriately decadent affair with eye-popping star turns and sweet production value. That line about Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte? So funny and fantastic.
To celebrate the movie’s goodness, let’s play a parlor game: Pick a Best Actor Oscar winner (like Michael Douglas) and pick the a great gay biopic role for him to play (like Liberace). I’ve come up with five options, and I’m psyched to hear yours. I threw in a bonus Best Actress scenario for the hell of it.
