This is a shocking tale of one inmate against cruel wardens . Esperanza Roy plays a woman incarcerated for swindle . In prison she meets a motley group of women and suffering rejection from some of them : murderers (Barbara Rey) , junkies (Beatriz Rossat) , thieves (Virginia Mataix) , prostitutes , among others . Esperanza Roy , then suffers humiliations , flagellation , beating , cruelty , degradation , and mistreats by the prison wardens . Meanwhile , her unsettling father commits suicide throwing himself a railway . Shortly after , Esperanza has a sexual attraction to Barbara Rey , and both of whom fall in love . There , then , she takes on a ruthless warden , Tota Alba .
