In its special episodes, Saved By The Bell wasn't afraid to get real. Or kill ducks. All together now, "I'm so excited! I'm so excited!..."
Saved By The Bell wasn't just Zack and Slater having a dance off. Yes it was. However, the show also tried its hand at a number of 'very special episodes'. These typically featured problems encountered by all teens at some point, like drinking half a can of beer, dead ducks, and getting off your tits on Pro Plus.
I grew up watching Saved By The Bell, and thanks to its teachings I am a well adjusted individual. Not like those weirdos who only ever make one joke about how they're a bit odd, and everything they ever write is a rubbish variation of that joke mixed in with jokes about Bungle.
Let's have a look at how Zack, Josh, Twinkie and Billy...

While searching for something to post on Movie Poster of the Day on Christmas Eve, I took a look at the poster for Bob Clark’s A Christmas Story, which I hadn’t paid much attention to before. On closer inspection I recognized it as a pretty perfect pastiche of Norman Rockwell, with its meticulous depiction of a domestic scene in medias res, and down to its details like its circular frame within a frame, its white background, and the parallel black lines mimicking the Saturday Evening Post masthead.
The association with, or subversion of, America’s favorite purveyor of whimsical Americana makes perfect sense in light of the poster’s tagline about the "Original, Traditional, One-Hundred-Percent, Red-Blooded, Two-Fisted, All-American Christmas” and the artist, Robert Tanenbaum, even took his parody a step further by signing his illustration in the style of Rockwell’s trademark stenciled signature.

One of the most classic teen shows of all time, "Saved By the Bell," is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The series premiered back in August of 1989 and if you were a child of the '90s with a TV, we're willing to be bet this program made some sort of an impact on you.
Sure, "Saved By the Bell" brought us plenty of laughs and outrageous (almost surreal) moments, but it was also filled with life lessons we'll remember forever. These more serious messages came in the form of what could be described as "very special episodes" -- the ones that serve a moral purpose so the youth of America is entertained and better off because of it. It's just that sometimes these episodes were also just as weird and wacky as the non-serious subject ones, but that's what made "Saved By the Bell" so ... very special.

Gerry Goffin, a prolific and multi-dimensional lyricist who with his then-wife and songwriting partner Carole King wrote such hits as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," ''(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," ''Up on the Roof" and "The Loco-Motion," died early Thursday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 75. His wife, Michelle Goffin, confirmed his death. Goffin, who married King in 1959, penned more than 50 top 40 hits, including "Pleasant Valley Sunday" for the Monkees, "Some Kind of Wonderful" for the Drifters and "Take Good Care of My Baby" by Bobby Vee. Goffin was able to pen jokey lyrics or achingly sad ones,...

Gerry Goffin, the esteemed songwriter and former husband and collaborator of Carole King, died on Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 75.
Gerry Goffin Dies
Goffin’s death was confirmed by his wife Michelle Goffin to People.
Goffin and King worked together to create a number of classic hits in the late 50s and early 60s, including “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “Up on the Roof,” “One Fine Day” and “The Loco-Motion.” After the pair split in 1968, Goffin continued writing hits like “Savin’ All My Love for You” for Whitney Houston, “Miss You Like Crazy” by Natalie Cole and “It’s Not the Spotlight,” which was recorded by Rod Stewart.

Inspired by old-school electronic music, '80s video games, cartoons and other retro fantasies, Canadian duo Volt 9000 (alias Cory Gorski & Andrew Dobbels ) blend analog post-industrial experimentation with club-worthy beats, pop melodies and moody vocals, sometimes sprinkling the concoction with vintage movie & game samples and glitchy 8-bit accents; the end product is often a nostalgic freestyle for fans of classic gaming, synth sci-fi & horror soundtracks, and '80s & '90s pop culture, and has resonated well with fans of Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly (both of whom have new work out this year, by the way) and other landmark industrial acts. That style served the team well on their first albums Retrogenesis and Atomica, but for their third full-length release Conopoly, which drops tomorrow from Artoffact Records, the band focus their retro-futuristic powers on a much darker theme – namely a creepy near-future dystopia with roots in today's hot-button headlines. September is here again, and it's time to delve into the cinematic bounty of the Wavelengths section of the Toronto International Film Festival, that rambunctious and idiosyncratic corner of the Reitman Machine largely cordoned off from commercial concerns and set aside for lovely and sometimes difficult film art. Despite the ever-changing profile of Tiff, stalwart programmer Andréa Picard has [cue needle-scratching-record sound] What? Yes, last year at this time, the avant-garde community thought we were seeing Ms. Picard leaving this position behind. Fortunately for us all, Tiff won her back.
And this is where things get interesting. Starting with this 2012 edition of the festival, the Wavelengths section is a much more broadly based, festival-wide category. In essence, it now subsumes the old Visions designation, which was Tiff’s home for formally challenging, feature-length arthouse fare. This merger, which may seem like a bit of a shotgun wedding to some, does in fact make sense.

By merging the former Visions into the Wavelengths section, Cameron Bailey has essentially made a new incontournable programme. Headed by Andréa Picard, the section which at a time was populated by medium to short run times now includes some of the bigger names in innovative feature film filmmaking who have no qualms about bending the medium. This year the sections includes long, medium and short length works from the likes of Ben Rivers, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Carlos Reygadas (pic of his controversial Post Tenebras Lux above), Wang Bing, Mati Diop (actress from Claire Denis and Antonio Campos films) and our very own writer Blake Williams who makes it two for two at Tiff with Many a Swan – he previously had Coorow-Latham Road programmed last year. Here’s the complete A to Z listing and well-worth reading descriptions.

By now you know that the upcoming third season of Glee will be the last for Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele. And while Gleeks everywhere mourn the loss of three of McKinley High's most talented vocalists, we asked castmate Mark Salling: Is Puck graduating too? "I have no idea," Salling recently told us at his Guess? store Pipe Dreams CD signing in Hollywood. "I'm the last to know...I'm just grateful to be there and have a job and be around as long as they need me to be and want me to be." The 29-year-old singer says he'll definitely miss the talented trio after their departure from the series. "I mean, we've kind of become like a family," he...

Holly Holliday will be making sweet music with Will Schuester once more. Translating from Gleek speak, Oscar-winning actress-turned-singing staple Gwyneth Paltrow will be crooning yet another number with Matthew Morrison.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Paltrow will appear on Morrison's upcoming solo album, which is due out on May 10. On "Glee," recurring guest Paltrow — who plays flaky substitute teacher Holliday — has covered Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" and Prince's "Kiss," the latter of which she performed with Morrison's Mr. Schue.
Now, the Golden Globe-nominated Morrison is having the "Country Strong" star help him out on his debut record, on a tune that's become almost synonymous with his "Glee" character: "Over the Rainbow." As Morrison told EW,...

Lea Michele knows many Gleeks are waiting for a solo album from her, but she says it won't happen anytime soon.
"I'm so focused on the show right now," Michele tells Zap2it. "A film is definitely something I'd like to do with any spare time I have, but I'm beyond satisfied being in the recording studio for 'Glee' and getting to work with our music producer, Adam Anders. That itch is being scratched at this point."
The Broadway veteran now known to millions as high-school vocal powerhouse Rachel Berry on Fox's Tuesday hit "Glee" remains immersed in the series, including the post-Super Bowl episode that's now being filmed to air Sunday, Feb. 6. Expect to see her team with castmate Mark Salling ("Puck") on Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" during the highly anticipated show.
Salling has released an album ("Pipe Dreams"), and one is forthcoming from co-star Matthew Morrison.

Chicago – The coming-of-age film has evolved over the years, from Andy Hardy to “Splendor in the Grass” to “The Graduate,” up through “American Pie.” Filmmaker Lena Dunham offers her own post-collegiate transition narrative, in the archly realistic and perversely funny “Tiny Furniture.”
Dunham wrote and directed the film, and also stars as Aura, a newly minted film theory degree holder. She comes back to New York City and her mother’s Tribeca art studio, where the specialty is notable photo imagery of yes, tiny furniture, set against larger objects like the high-heeled feet of Aura’s sister. Aimless and clueless, Aura begins a series of relationships which includes a slightly warped childhood friend, a homeless comedy writer that she allows to stay at the studio and a co-worker at the small restaurant where she temporarily is employed as a hostess.

Mark Salling has been snapped on the set of "Glee", and he is playing with a baby. Several pictures taken from the set on Tuesday, October 26 capture the actor known for his portrayal of Puck on the series looking after the tyke. Two in particular see him holding the baby while walking behind co-star Chord Overstreet.
Considering that season one of "Glee" ended with Quinn giving birth to her and Puck's child, the photos might spark speculation that it might mean the return of baby Beth, who was adopted by Idina Menzel's Shelby. However, upon closer inspection, it looks like that the little kid is actually a boy.

Puck sure knows how to party. Zap2it was invited to "Glee" star Mark Salling's "Pipe Dreams" record release celebration at MyHouse in Hollywood, hosted by Xomad's Bbm Lounge.
Salling, sporting Puck's recently missing mohawk again, took to the stage and performed two songs from his new album. But if you want to get a listen, you're going to have to pick up the record, because he definitely won't be performing any of his original songs on "Glee." Ever.
"Never in a million years," Salling laughed when we suggested it. "Just trust me. It'd never happen."
Salling, who has previously released a solo album under the name Jericho, says that the new record isn't much of a departure for him. Like with his first album, he played all the instruments on Pipe Dreams. That doesn't mean that a few things aren't different now that "Glee" has become a cultural phenomenon.

Glee star Mark Salling recently sat down and chatted with Idolator about his first solo effort, Pipe Dreams, which will be released Tuesday, October 26. While Mark may be best known for playing bad boy Puck on Glee, his new album has more of a mellow feel to it. Mark says: “Overall it’s got pop melodies over jazz chord changes with a rock feel, I’d say.” Mark also gave some insight into the album title itself explaining: “Pipe dreams is a term that represents what people will tell you are unrealistic dreams. That’s kind of what me considering a career in music and moving...

Mark Salling and his "Glee" co-star Chord Overstreet could be getting a lucrative offer to strip off from Playgirl magazine. E! News has recently broken the news that the adult publication is ready to spend up to $100,000 to have the actors playing Puck and Sam on the Fox hit series taking their clothes off for a photo spread.
A representative for Playgirl first revealed that the mag is prepared to offer Chord 100 grand just to take it off, adding "he doesn't even have to take it all off". Asked which other "Glee" cast they want, the rep noted, "that Mark Salling who plays Puck. We would definitely want him. We would be very willing to pay for them both - up to 100 thousand. And it wouldn't have to be fully X-rated, either."
While Chord hasn't commented yet on the possible offer, 28-year-old Mark has made a joke out of it.

"Glee" star Lea Michele is putting off plans to follow her TV co-stars Matthew Morrison and Mark Salling into the music industry by releasing her own album, because she's not ready to make such a "big commitment". The singer/actress, who has shown off her powerful vocals on Broadway as well as on the hit TV musical, admits she would love to one day record a disc of her own songs, but she would need enough time to nurture the project from start to finish.
She tells Us Weekly, "I think it's definitely in my future, but that's a really big commitment. (Her 'Glee' character) Rachel's my baby, and making an album would be like taking care of another baby. And I'm not really ready to have another kid yet!"

"Glee" hunk Mark Salling has just made public a music video in support of his song "Illusions" via E! Online. The Noah 'Puck' Puckerman depicter debuts not just one but two videos for the track of his debut album "Pipe Dreams".
The song is about "the different illusions that we have in society," including illusions from the realms of politics, religion and entertainment. As for the effort, he said in an exclusive interview with AceShowbiz, "The whole album is a diary pretty much of the last decade of my life and struggles in L.A. as a musician. The track 'Pipe Dreams' which is coincidentally the name of my album and label, sums it up pretty well I think."
The album is due in the United States on October 25. All the tracks which made the cut on it are selected from the materials Salling has been working on for the past several years.

Mark Salling was conspicuously missing from Glee Oct. 12 — they shipped him off to ‘juvenile hall’ — and HollywoodLife.com has learned why he’s gone, and why he might not come back.
McKinley High School’s bad boy Puck (played by Mark Salling), was banished to juvenile hall in the first scene of the Oct. 12 episode of Glee — and it looks like neither Puck nor Mark will be on the show for the foreseeable future.
A source on the set tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively why Mark, 28, is out.
We’re told that Mark may have breached his contract by pursuing his own music career too aggressively. “Mark has been really focused on his own music and it’s actually gotten in the way of his Glee stuff,” our insider explains.
Mark has been very public about his rock-jazz fusion band, Jericho, which has released two albums, Smoke Signals in 2008 and Pipe Dreams just this month.

Mark Salling is gearing up to roll out his first solo studio album "Pipe Dreams" in the United States on October 25. In anticipation for the album release, the "Glee" actor hit Tao Nightclub inside The Ventian Resort & Casino on October 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate the record.
At the event which was also held to raise awareness for the American Red Cross, the Noah 'Puck' Puckerman depicter was accompanied by co-star Chord Overstreet who plays Sam Evans in the Fox's TV series. Wearing black outfit, the two wrapped arms around each other when posing together for photographers.
"Pipe Dreams" is led by "pop radio friendly" song titled "Higher Power". It features downbeat jam with 60s rock vibe which might not come as surprise since the actor has declared his love for throwback rock tunes when announcing the album earlier this year.
"I love nineties stuff like Alice in Chains and Nine Inch Nails.

Selena Gomez Is Rumoured To Be Dating 'Glee' Star Mark Salling.
The ‘Monte Carlo’ actress – who split from singer Nick Jonas earlier in the year and has also dated ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner in the past – is said to have got close to the actor at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday evening (08.08.10).
A friend revealed to RadarOnline.com: “They were texting during the awards, even though Selena was front row and Mark was backstage co-hosting. Every time Mark came up on stage, she was beaming ear to ear.”
However, 27-year-old Mark – who recently announced plans to release his first solo album ‘Pipe Dreams’ – then ditched the awards after-party in favour of heading to Hollywood eatery Katsuya with fellow ‘Glee’ cast members Cory Monteith and Chord Overstreet.
Selena, 18, recently admitted she hasn’t been on a date in months and understands the pain of unrequited love.

If you’re reading this and are a Gleek, try not bludgeon us, ok? Because we’re going to admit… we do not like Glee. At all. In all fairness, we gave it a shot but Rachel and gang got far too precious to stomach. Having said that, in the few episodes we managed to get through, Mark Salling made quite the impression. Because A. he didn’t sing much and B. he’s hot. Yes, he’s strangely called Puck, but his smolder outweighs the silly name (Noah Puckerman doesn’t hack it either) and in our book that’s the math that counts. Unfortunately, Puck’s sexy points are being deducted as we type. It’s a sadly unexpected tale. To preempt it, can we just say that Salling has a side project called Jericho and released an album called Smoke Signals in 2008. We also heard he did...

Mark Salling has unleashed lead single from his upcoming studio album "Pipe Dreams". The bad boy Noah 'Puck' Puckerman of hit TV series "Glee" debuted the "pop radio friendly" song during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his Kiis FM morning show.

"Glee" star Mark Salling has more than a new season of a hit show to promote, his debut solo album drops October 12.
When Salling stopped by "On-Air With Ryan Seacrest," he didn't have much to say on Britney Spears matters, but he did talk up the release of "Pipe Dreams."
Salling says he's been working on original music for the past several years, and his 11 favorite tracks made it to the album. The first single, "Higher Power," saw its radio debut during his Seacrest interview.
One additional topic Salling did touch on, however, was his rumored romance with recently single "Bachelor" contestant Vienna Girardi. He offered up a quick, if slightly confused, denial when Seacrest had him cornered. "I just met her at a party the other night," he says. "No, I'm a single man... I'm too busy to date anybody."
