Film director Sergiu Nicolaescu adapted the screenplay, directed and starred in this motion picture.
It's the 11th most watched Romanian film of all times, according to the Romanian Filmmakers Union.
The film's screenplay is an adaptation of the 1968 novel "After the Storm" by Romanian novelist Titus Popovici. The novel's title was the working title of this film.
The initial screenplay mentioned the role of a peg-leg soldier, named Ionica Schiopul, played by Romanian actor Alexandru Herescu (who played the Dacian warrior Cotyso in the Romanian film Dacii). However, the screenplay was modified and the character was eliminated from the final draft.
The film's musical score was created by Tiberiu Olah and Nicu Covaci, after Richard Oschanitzky failed to compose a musical score by the due date. Some of the music for this film was borrowed from the Romanian historical film Michael the Brave (Mihai Viteazul).About 20 minutes of music of the Romanian band Phoenix was also used but their name was removed from the film's credits after the band defected from Comunist Romania in 1977.
