Upon its initial release, the film was advertised in local newspapers without the title. Described as "too shocking to print," readers were asked to call theatres showing the film to find what the title was.
Per an article on the Turner Classic Movies website about this film, the role of "Aunt Martha" was intended for Mary Astor.
The hotel featured in the film, the King Edward, still stands. In 2018 it was purchased by a non-profit organization with plans to convert the building and its 150 rooms into low-cost single-occupancy "transitional" housing.
