The Abductors (1972) **1/2
JoeKarlosi31 January 2010
As soon as this movie started it was like a breath of fresh air from the non-PC days where anything went! A fun, down and dirty flick like this wouldn't stand a chance in today's climate, which is why I seldom bother with modern action films anymore, unless Quentin Tarantino has a hand in them. Anyway -- I learned later that this is the second movie in the so-called "Ginger Trilogy", starring the sexy and mouth-watering blonde Cheri Caffaro as Ginger, a female James Bond of sorts. An organization of seedy white guys are kidnapping young women, forcing them to strip from top (none of the girls here are well endowed there, if that's your primary interest) to bottom, and then selling them off to rich men who'll do with them what they like. Ginger steps in undercover to crack the ring, and is not beyond teasing her men to extract what she needs from them. Miss Caffaro is alluring enough to keep me interested, and this is just one of those wild and enjoyable sexploitation romps with lots of skin plus funny dialogue and acting that will entertain anyone in the mood for such outlandish smut. I'm going to try and see Cheri's other Ginger films. **1/2 out of ****

The Second Film of the "Ginger Trilogy"
Uriah434 January 2015
In this second film of the "Ginger Trilogy" the detective known as "Ginger" (Cheri Caffaro) is called back into action to investigate the disappearance of four beautiful young women. Since the abductions appear to have been planned well in advance and all of the ladies disappeared in the same general area, both Ginger and her boss "Jason Varone" (William Grannel) suspect that this is the work of a local sex slave operation. So, in order to break the case, a beautiful woman has to volunteer to be bait and hope that everything goes according to plan. Now rather than reveal any more of this movie and risk spoiling it for those who haven't seen it, I will just say that this film was better in some areas than its predecessor ("Ginger") but lacking in a couple of others. For starters, I thought the acting and camera work were slightly better. However, some of the scenes lacked passion and the script could have used some improvement. In short, I rate this film about the same as I did the previous movie. Average.

Campy but horribly dated
movieman_kev15 November 2008
Ginger (Cheri Caffero) is back once again infiltrating a kidnapping racket (apparently no one cared that she was a racist sociopath in the first one). Better than the first film, "Ginger", but what the hell could be worse??? So that's not a selling point. Most of the girls have breast so small they could pass for boy scouts. So nothing to rave about there. The only quasi-good looking one of the bunch is Jennifer Brooks. Gone are the racism elements. But it wouldn't be a Ginger film without the light S&M scenes. Don't get me wrong, this one is still crap, just crap that's not as repellent as the original.

My Grade: D+

Eye Candy: Cheri Caffero, Gerie Bronson, Honey Well, Ined Som, Jennifer Brooks, and Jeremie Rain show breasts and bush

2nd in the "Ginger" series
TroyAir25 May 1999
This is the second film in the "Ginger" series, and Bridgette Bardot look-alike Cheri Caffaro is back, this time as a private investigator hired to infiltrate a ring of white slave traders.

The film opens with a blonde woman (we'll call her a "stewardess"), wearing only her panties with her arms shackled behind her back, being thrown in a small cell. Next, 3 blonde girls (we'll call them "Cheerleaders") are kidnapped and taken to a strange building where they are stripped down to their panties and have their arms shackled behind their backs (seems to be a recurring pattern). They are then told by the kidnappers that they are going to be used as sex slaves, and when the girls resist they are turned to face a curtain. The chief bad-guy pulls back the curtain and behind the glass we see the stewardess suspended like a hammock in the air, still wearing her panties but squirming quite a bit. It seems that the stewardess had resisted the bad-guys, too. Shocked at the sight, the girls cower and agree to become sex slaves. The reason why the girls were allowed to keep their panties on? As a sign of their submission, they must present their panties to the kidnappers.

Ginger is called onto the case to track down the disappearance of the females, and she launches her investigation by becoming bait for the kidnappers (well, actually she gets another girl to be the bait but they both end up getting kidnapped). At various points in the movie Ginger and her sidekick end up naked, bound, and having sex with the kidnappers. But don't worry, our hero always gets her man.

This installment of the series is much better than the first film ("Ginger") since it had a higher budget to work with. More money = more chicks, more bad guys, more "B" movie bondage/adventures. And since this film was made before the age of silicone implants, they're real (and they're spectacular).

In today's period of conservative politics, feminism, Moral Majority, and sexual restraint (a by-product of the AIDS scare), it's a pretty good bet that no movie series will ever be made quite like the "Ginger" series. Sure, there are X-rated bondage films out there, but none will ever be the "B" movie fare that this film series is.

More female exploitation masquerading as female action cinema
gridoon202423 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
In some aspects, "The Abductors" is superior to its predecessor: the budget is obviously increased, even allowing for some helicopter shots, the dialogue (especially the banter between Ginger and her boss) is more witty and self-aware (there are, for example, references to James Bond and Ginger's frequent nudity), and Cheri Caffaro herself seems more confident in front of the camera this time around - even when she's not "nearly naked"! But the film drags, probably even more than "Ginger" (though it's 10 minutes shorter), and pretty much the only "action" Caffaro sees is of the sexual variety. Which is why the spirited Jennifer Brooks (AKA Laurie Rose) actually steals the show from her; at least she gets to do a brief judo exhibition. *1/2 out of 4.

Who Knew Bondage Led to Sexual Freedom?
BaronBl00d12 July 2008
Three cheerleaders and a beautiful blonde beauty pageant winner mysteriously disappear(kidnapped) when a gang out to abduct beautiful young girls and sell them into bondage to middle-aged, grizzled business men operates at the beginning of this fun yet tasteless film. Like the first Ginger, The Abductors has the copious nudity, non-PC lingo, and, at its heart, Cheri Caffaro back again as Ginger. You know Ginger - the girl working for a detective agency right out of college with martial arts training and one heck of a bod. A bod you know you will get ample chances to view. While I didn't like this one quite as much as the first Ginger movie, it does mirror the style and flavor of that first film. William Grannel is back as Jason Varone with all the acting talent of a drying, freshly painted wall - yet his scenes with Caffaro are fun and flirtatious. Caffaro gives a much more steady performance in this film becoming very comfortable in Ginger's clothes(and out of them). There is quite a perverse angle to this film with the whole white slavery into bondage thing, a rape, and several soft-core sex scenes of basically forced consensual sex. Acting ranges from mediocre(Cafarro and Richard Smedley as the love interest for Ginger, and Patrich Wright as a heavy) to bad(Grannel and Laurie Rose as Carter Winston - I just got so sick of hearing that stupid name!) But likes it predecessor The Abductors is a whole lot of fun and a trip down that seventies lane with its far out clothes and a style of film totally lost in today's milquetoast PC era.

The ultimate in soft porn sexploitation
bbhlthph16 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Cannibalism and the white slave trade are two subjects that hold a prurient vicarious fascination for many young people and when either is featured in a film it will usually guarantee at least a limited measure of success at the box office as long as the movie is reasonably competently produced. There have been a long string of such films going back to silent movie days and stars such as Rudolph Valentino. Many young women going abroad for the first time have confessed to experiencing fantasies in which they either find that they are destined to become part of the diet of some savage captors, or that they have been allotted to a place in the harem of some secluded middle eastern or oriental despot with little prospect of ever escaping. Both situations have certainly occurred on occasion in the past, in the latter case there are a few well documented stories of women who have created themselves very successful lives and become famous in the process. However in my opinion, it is stretching fantasy too far to contemplate a school in a secluded part of North America where girls abducted from their families are forcibly trained to be the willing "companions" of successful business men who are queuing up to pay very large sums of money to purchase their own complaisant "sex slave". Admittedly police records show that there have been some cases where girls who were forcibly abducted have developed a relationship with their captors such that they make no effort to escape even when this becomes possible; but such a situation seems unlikely to develop in more than a limited number of cases; and what very successful businessman would be prepared to rely on his purchase not being one of those who eventually seize an opportunity to escape, in the process putting him behind bars for a large part of the remainder of his life?

Nevertheless this is precisely the scenario for "The Abductors (1972)'', the second of the "Ginger" films. In general I do not usually enjoy films which are pure fantasies (such as the later James Bond films), or which stretch the bound of credulity too far, and this reduces the rating I might otherwise give the film. However it is probably the most coherent and sophisticated of the three films in the "Ginger" series and, once the viewer has accepted its basic premise, the story unfolds with fewer gaps or holes than in the other two films. It is nevertheless almost the ultimate in soft porn sexploitation, and anyone considering viewing this film for the first time is entitled to have some idea of what to expect. - SPOILERS AHEAD - It opens with the abduction of three young cheerleaders who are forced at gunpoint to undress in front of their captors and then told they are to be trained to become the sex toys of rich men. The cost of refusal would be torture, and a curtain is drawn aside to give them a glimpse of an earlier recalcitrant captive being tortured. Still obdurate, this girl is later raped (quite graphically on screen), after which she gives no more trouble. The good guys set up another girl as a decoy to lead them to the scene, but they lose track of her after she is captured and also facing the worst. Three rich men (looking in some ways rather more like College nerds than powerful business men) are taken to the hideaway to claim the three captured cheerleaders they have "bought" but this still does not alert the good guys to its location, and almost in despair Ginger herself then becomes a second decoy to be abducted in turn. This leads to a barnstorming climax where the good guys finally locate and attack the hideaway just in time to save the day. Surprisingly this is not the finale, this film still has one more twist, probably intended to add a little more credibility to the story.

It is all meaningless, empty of real characterisation, and without any social value; but it hardly misses a trick and is fun to watch for those who occasionally want to relax and enjoy a pure fantasy of this kind. It features enough bondage to make it politically incorrect for the mainstream cinema today, and so there are not many new releases which compete with it in this respect; DVD copies of this 30+ year old film will therefore probably continue to sell for some time to come.

Female James Bond and more
Kakueke20 September 2001
This is the second installment in the Ginger series. Ginger (Cheri Caffaro) is a sexy detective who sets out to nail a gang of men who kidnap young, pretty women to sell them as white slaves to rich businessmen, as mistresses and with a view to bondage. Certainly she matches James Bond in terms of enjoying sleeping with the enemy, regardless of whether she converts them to good, as well as anyone else along the way who is attracted to her, which means she will be attracted to him. But this movie goes beyond James Bond in terms of not only graphic scenes, but bondage fantasies, and it seems Ginger enjoys men in bondage even more than her opponents enjoy women in bondage. There are also good action and backdrop, some amusing tension between Ginger and her mentor, and a good feeling or revenge against the bad guys, altho at the very end the movie departs from the main themes. The acting (besides Cheri) leaves something to be desired. Very entertaining, and definitely recommended.

Politically Incorrect and Deliciously Bad
swingbobswing21 October 2003
It's funny that while it has virtually no fowl language, which floods movies today, the minimal sex in the movie is quite graphic (i.e., Rape Scenes) and would definitely get an NC-17 in today's world and most surely be picketed by anti-violence groups. This movie offers poor acting, editing and scripting, yet it's corn is somehow quite enjoyable. Maybe it's the over the top canned dialog, the B&D nature, or lack of silicone implants. I liked it much better than the original "Ginger." If you like to laugh at "Bad Cinema" or enjoy mainstream B&D, watch this movie.

1970's action flick with plenty of nudity
TroyAir28 May 1999
Ever see a tv show where the Evil Guys have kidnapped a beautiful woman and are holding her hostage until the Good Guys can come along and rescue her? Well, I don't know about you, but if I was an Evil Guy and had a beautiful woman tied up, I sure wouldn't leave her fully clothed. And in this film, the Evil Guys think like I do, but they take it to the next logical step - white slavery.

The film starts with a blonde woman, her arms tied behind her back, being led down a hallway wearing only her panties and then thrown in a small room. In the next scene, 3 young women (supposedly cheerleaders) are driving along in a convertible Cadillac when the Evil Guys blow out the Cadillac's tires with a shotgun. When the girls stop, the Evil Guys grab them and tell them to strip down to their panties. While the girls are undressing, one of the Evil Guys throws the discarded clothing into the car, douses the car with gasoline and sets it afire.

The girls are then taken to the Evil Guy's hideout, where the chief Evil Guy tells them that they are going to become sex slaves, and tells them that to show their acquiescence they must remove their panties. To persuade the girls, the chief Evil Guy pulls back a curtain to reveal the blonde woman suspended like a hammock, squirming against her bonds wearing only her panties. The girls quickly decide to surrender (keep in mind that in the 1970's, just showing a nude woman in bondage was pretty racy. Nowadays, where tattoos and body piercing is a form of fashion, the girls would probably say "me next!").

Ginger is a private investigator who is hired to find the missing women. After examining the burned out wreck of the car and doing some mild investigation, she determines that the girls have been kidnapped and used for sex slaves, so she hires a model to act as bait. Naturally, the model gets kidnapped and Ginger uses herself as bait, whereup she is promptly kidnapped, too. Back at the lair, both the model and Ginger are tied up and interrogated by the Evil Guys. Ginger is taken to a separate room while the model is stripped and fondled to get her to reveal information (apparently, arousing a woman is sufficient to get her to spill the beans). In the private room, Ginger is getting a treatment of her own. Fortunately, Ginger and the model had swallowed little disks which enable the Good Guys to track them down and rescue them.

This is a good example of a bondage/adventure/action film. The first film of the series ("Ginger") is not as good as this one. The third film of the series ("Girls Are For Loving"), has more airplanes and speedboats, but the gratuitous nudity doesn't really kick in until that last 30 minutes of the film. "The Abductors" starts with a bang and finishes with a bang, the way a good film should.

Ginger shakes her maracas
juliankennedy236 March 2005
The Abductors: 8 out of 10: Lets face it some bad movies age better than others. From the wonderfully horrible fashion and hair worn by the leads to décor including shag carpets (that they actually shag on) and chintzy coconuts holding push pins. (in the bank presidents office no less) the Abductors is filled with seventies kitsch.

It also has an attitude towards woman so politically incorrect they would burn down the theater today. (Great film to show during a Take Back the Night meeting just make sure you park away from the ensuing riot.) The Abductors is a bit like a feminist raison de ere.

Like any good exploitation film there is a ton of nubile flesh on display. The Ginger films add bondage, rape and generally cruelty that separates it from the cheerleader and nurse pictures that were its competition at the seventies drive-in. In addition the girls are silicone free with tan lines to boot which I admit I find more appealing than the cookie cutter Playboy models of today's exploitation.

Downsides include remarkably incompetent gunfights (the prop guns don't fire on cue) and the state police (who look Canadian for some reason) are out of a thirties gangster movie (Complete with a Tommy gun that smokes like a Cheech and Chong extra.) Strange pacing including a gratuitous drum solo and maraca-shaking scene. (No really Ginger brought her own maracas to the disco) and a lead actress Cheri Caffro who looks like a hooker a few years past her prime complete with pancake make-up (The other lead actress Jennifer Brooks is so hopelessly nubile Caffro looks like her mom.).

Great flick to watch while the significant other is out of the house (preferably safely out of town.) The Ginger films like that other exploitation classic I Spit on Your Grave is a viewing pleasure best kept close to the vest.

memories of a cheesy drive in
BOB-62911 November 1999
I remember when I was a boy, I could walk down to the foot of the road late at night, look up on the hill and see the giant drive in screen glowing with Cheri Caffaro's figure in another predicament. I never heard the dialogue, but who needs it in this movie series. Ginger's power was her sex appeal, and even though she might have been bound and gagged, her captors were the ones who were truly helpless against it. This movie would never be shown on any broadcast channels, not even USA, and that's too bad, it's a gem in the rough.

The acting was usually wooden and inconsistent, some of the editing was less than perfect, the sound has that studio resonance, the outfits were truly 70's, the music was eerily close to disco and the story line was old when the Romans dwelled the earth, but it's good B-movie fun.

The girls are pretty in their 70's way sporting the sexually open styles and high, high heel shoes. It is true to it's period in that respect.

I can just picture the screen lighting up with Ginger seducing one of her gullible captors to release her as she slowly sways against her bonds. Movies like this are best left to those of us who like our B-movie cinema.

Sure, in the era of political correctness and equality, it would get it's share of disdaining looks, but when you look back at the movie, especially some of the dancing scenes, you just have to laugh.and realize that even the Romans, the most civilized society, warranted a little debauchery in their own society, and that there was no harm, no foul on the big screen on a warm summer night.

Defense of a lost film
Artemis-94 May 2002
I'm rather defending my 8 star valuation of the original adult film, shown in the Eastern Coast of the USA and Canada in 1972. Unfortunately, the poor video copy currently available does the original no justice, either by careless editing, and softening the excellent topless woman-to-woman and mixed fights it had.

Everything I expected
crack-422 July 1999
The movie starts off on a good note w/two gentlemen escorting a half naked woman into a room where they leave her. The basic plot is 3 cheerleaders are kidnapped, made to strip, and taught sex acts so they may be sold to businessmen to be their "mistresses in bondage" for the price of $100,000. Any attempt to resist is punished by being tied up. To show their complete cooperation, they are asked to removed their underwear. None of the three decline. A detective is assigned to investigate this, she eventually finds the location of the girls but is caught by the evil henchmen. She is then put in the same position they were, but manages to break free. This movie was everything I expected. Full frontal nudity, as well as a somewhat enticing story line. It's a grade above the usual corny 70's porn acting.

"You Can Strip To Show Your Good Faith!"...
azathothpwiggins26 July 2021
THE ABDUCTORS opens with the abduction of several beautiful women by a group of men. The opening credits appear, with a fantastic theme song featuring a grand horn section.

Enter mod, tough-talking, super-detective, Ginger (Cheri Caffaro), who is sent in to rescue the kidnapped girls, before they're sold into "white slavery".

Meanwhile, the mean, terrible men abuse and degrade their captives as much as possible. Full frontal nudity ensues.

Fear not! Ginger is on the case. She's running down clues while wearing amazing outfits. Ginger seems to have brought her entire wardrobe along. She's got more snazzy clothes than all three of Charlie's Angels combined!

Other than being a showcase for Ginger's innate fashion sense, there's also the copious nudity to consider, including bulbous, hairy men. Those watching for the "sex scenes", would be better served to simply look on the internet. Unless, sweaty, fur-covered males are your forte. This is about as ridiculous as a movie can get. It's also incredibly dull whenever Ginger's not on the screen!

HIGHLIGHT: Ginger's maraca dance routine!

An ancient artifact from those drive-in days...
