It’s highly unlikely that you get to hear those desired words of appreciation from Mil: The mother-in-law (no offence please!). All hail to the benchmarks that our dear Mil’s set, the Bahu's somehow, always lag. And, the revolutionary Bahu's who pass the ‘Agni-Pariksha’ create history and are known as the ‘Tulsi’ of the Khandaan. But ‘Bahu’ Kareena seems to be really lucky. She got pregnant, partied, dressed up, went to shoots, gave interviews, hosted brunch and late night-outs, and see, her ‘Saas’ is all up with her praises! Sharmila Tagore expressed her joy with DNA about Kareena’s pregnancy: “Kareena has been so lovely. She has carried pregnancy her effortlessly and gracefully… kisi ki nazar na lag jaye. She is enjoying every moment of her pregnancy. She is dressing up, going out and being so natural and beautiful about it”. Sharmila Tagore is as excited as the parents-to-be.

One of Indian cinema's first superstars who appeared in 15 consecutive hit films in the course of three years
Rajesh Khanna, who has died aged 69 after a long illness, was Indian cinema's first superstar. At the height of his fame he generated adulation that sometimes verged on mass hysteria and appeared in 15 consecutive hit films over the course of three years.
He first achieved acclaim in Aradhana (Worship, 1969), playing two roles – the husband and grown-up son, both air force pilots, of the established star Sharmila Tagore. Notable among the romantic drama's musical numbers was the sexy Roop Tera Mastana (Your Beauty Is Intoxicating), recorded in a single take, a first for Hindi cinema.
Further highly commercial films followed, including Aan Milo Sajna (Come Meet Me, Beloved, 1970), Kati Patang (Broken Kite, 1970) and Haathi Mera Saathi (Elephant My Partner, 1971). More thought-provoking were Daag (Stain, 1973), dealing with the subject of bigamy, and Anand (1971), in...

Long before Shah Rukh wiggled his eyebrows and raised his arms for a hug, and well before Salman built that body, there was the inimitable Rajesh Khanna. If the late 70s were Amitabh Bachchan’s one man industry, then the early 70s were Rajesh’s domain. Truly, the era of the first superstars in Hindi cinema has come to an end when Khanna passed away this past Wednesday.
Often called the Prince of Romance, Khanna offered up a gentler and tender side to romance that is sorely missed in today’s era. Born as Jatin Khanna on December 29th 1942, he was a keen lover of films since an early age. His rise to the top also seems like a struggler’s dream, as he was picked from thousands of applicants from the All India Talent Contest. It’s easy to see why. That twinkle in his eye, the tilted head,...

It finally happened on Saturday Night (October 9). The retro-music-and-dance night at a suburban retro club Polyester where Akshay Kumar was deejay and played all his favourite songs from the 1970s as part of the promotional campaign for Action Replayy. The retro Saturday night was sadly incomplete without Akshay’s leading lady Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Aishwarya has gone to the Pusan Film Festival, leaving Akshay to his own musical devices on Saturday night.
Vipul explains his leading lady’s absence on this important night. “The retro-music night was to happen on September 30. But that turned out to be the date for the verdict on Ayodhya. When now Aishwarya had committed her time for such an important international festival I couldn’t expect her to set aside her plans. And she had promised she would try to fly back to Mumbai for the evening and then return to Pusan.”

From carrying video cassettes to his favourite actress' place to actually giving her an award on a public function, Madhur Bhandarkar couldn't digest the reality when he met his idol Asha Parekh. Sometimes when one comes face to face with one's idol, one doesn't know how to react. So it happened when Madhur Bhandarkar met Asha Parekh at an awards function where Madhur gave the veteran actress an award. Too timid and "too much of a fan" to express his admiration and love, Madhur couldn't muster the courage to say what he had always wanted to tell his favourite actress. Until he could hold his admiration back no more. Says Madhur, "I had saved it all up for years. I was and I am Ashaji's biggest fan. 'Holi ke rang mein', 'Rang barse bheege chunar wali' and 'Holi khele Raghuveera' are some popular Hindi movie songs that captured the spirit of the festival of colours on the big screen. But recent years have witnessed a dearth of songs revolving round the festival, leaving audiences with no choice but to stick to the old ones. The last famous Holi song that people could dance to was 'Do me a favour...let's play holi' from the film 'Waqt - Race Against Time' (2005). The song was picturised on Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra and had the right mood, colour and energy required for a Holi song. After this, audiences have not had a Holi song that they can match steps with.'Hardly any films are shot in India so it's tough for Holi to come in. Also filmmakers aren't writing about festivals like Holi and Diwali, which is quite sad,...

This must be one of the rarest occurrences not just in the world, but also the universe... so much so that even the 'rarely-found' UFOs and Halley's Comet must be suffering from a huge complex! We are referring to the 'Joint-Birthday' bash at the 'Khanna' residence today, as Daddy Rajesh Khanna, today, celebrates his birthday with his darling daughter Twinkle Khanna nee Kumar. Often referred to as 'Kaka' in Bollywood, Rajesh Khanna started his silver screen's career with Akhri Khat, but rose to dizzying heights with his trademark style, in films like Do Raaste, Aradhana, Awara Baap, Kati Patang, Sachaa Jhutha, Ghar Ka Chirag, etc...to name a few.
