Below average Italian Zorro in which he battles the Napoleonic forces in Navarra, Pamplona , Spain
ma-cortes18 February 2022
Routine Zorro movie in ordinary style with thrills , noisy action and lots of sword-play . A very free rendition indirectly based on the classic novel written by Johnston MacCulley . It is set in 1813 , Spain , it starts with Zorro is given the sword of the majestic king of Spain , Fernando VII , who's exiled in Bayona, France , along with his father Charles IV and actually reigning Jose , Giuseppe , Bonaparte, brother of Emperor Napoleon . And Zorro (Nadir Moretti) has to plan a rebellion against the French military who govern tyranically the city of Navarra , in the region of Pamplona . There, General Estella (Daniele Vargas) rules with an iron hand and shoots any opponent or rebel against Napoleon's empire. Meanwhile Zorro poses as a gay hairdresser who is famous among the ladies of the court . At first , Zorro saves a group of rebels about to be shot , then he escapes from the soldiers by hiding in the stagecoach of the Mayor's (Loris Gizzi) niece (Malisa Longo) , of course she falls in love with him. Along the way , Zorro saves the damsel in distress until the final revolt .

Entertaining but inferior Zorro movie with frantic action , intrigue , swashbuckling , romance, upheaval and a large number of crosswords . A light and medium budger Zorro in Spaghetti style , retelling the legendary role, and partially based on the regular Canon. ¨Zorro, the Navarra Marquis¨ or Zorro marchese di Navarra¨(1969) is made back to back with ¨ Zorro in the Court of England (1969) with same producer/director , the latter set in epoch of queen Victoria of Hannover who to be aware the island of Hamilton in The Bermudas happens a rebellion and Zorro is really the seducer land owner Pedro Suárez : Spyros Focas confronting the baddie Daniele Vargas . In ¨Zorro marchese di Navarra (1969)¨ the brave Zorro is amusingly played by Nadir Moretti as the relentless hero of the opresed citizens , while relishing his secret identity in black mask , cape and sword who governs tyrannically the town of Navarra . Accompanied by an attractive support cast with plenty of secondaries usual in Italan B-genres , such as Daniele Vargas , Malisa Longo , Fortunato Arena , Gisella Arden , Mimmo Poli, Emilio Messina , Ignacio Doze , among others . Colorful cinematography by Augusto Tizzio shot on location in Ronciglione , Viterbo, Lazio , Italy , though these landscapes nothing to do with Navarra, Pamplona , Spain . Thrilling and moving musical score by Angelo Francesco Lavagnino , including Spanish/Mexican sounds . The film financed by Fortunato Misiano who produced Zorro the Navarra Marquis and was regularly directed by Franco Montemurro. Rating : 4.5/10 . So-so and low-budgeted Zorro movie
