Sex & Nudity

  • Woman in bath tub; nudity includes her naked back and a glimpse of her right breast and nipple. Man strips off pyjamas and walks naked into bedroom; nudity includes his chest and full rear nudity. Bare-chested male is shown including in swimming trunks in several scenes.
  • A man and woman lie in bed together after making love. A woman fondles a man's genitals (suggested but not shown) with her sleeping, elderly mother lying nearby. A man is shown nude from behind. Several references to the sex act throughout the movie.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman's corpse is shown after she fatally overdoses on pills. A man puts a gun to a woman's head and pulls the trigger, the violence occuring offscreen. One very graphic murder sequence where the victim is hit over the head with a hammer, with bloody results, then choked to death with a torniquet around the neck. A very young child is murdered, offscreen, by drowning.

Profanity

  • Several uses of mild profanity (Martha calls one woman a "bitch" and refers to the sex act as "screwing").

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Several characters smoke cigarettes on screen. One character is interested in taking pills recreationally.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A woman attempts suicide by drowning herself.
  • The murder sequences are particularly brutal in tone, with one murder of an elderly woman being visually graphic as well. Several of the victims plead for their lives and elicit no sympathy from the killers.
