This is the first time Miklós Jancsó's DOP was János Kende. The two already knew each other since Kende worked in The Red and the White (1967) as an assistant cameraman. Jancsó was unsatisfied with Kende's work, reshoot the entire first day and wanted to fire him. Finally, the two made it up, and their friendship is legendary.
Miklós Jancsó's former DOP, Tamás Somló was busy filming The Day Has Gone (1968), the first feature film of Márta Mészáros (Jancsó's wife). Mészáros and Jancsó agreed that she would work with the experienced DOP, and Jancsó would work with János Kende.
Ila Schütz's debut.
