On ITV's original 1965 transmission of the series, Swindley - having not appeared for two months - had only last been seen in Weatherfield two days earlier (Monday 31st May), briefly bidding farewell to the area and his friends before starting up as Assistant Manager at Dobson and Hawks Department Store on Wednesday 2nd June.
A rare (perhaps unique) example of a soap opera spin-off (from Coronation Street (1960) ) that's a sitcom, not another soap opera.
As late as 1974, the parent series Coronation Street (1960) included a jar of gobstoppers manufactured by Dobson Hawks in the set for The Kabin newsagents.
Whilst the whole transmitted series exists, it appears that the two unbroadcast pilots (one written by Jack Rosenthal ) were not retained by Granada.
